A Modified FCM for Nonlinear Blind Channel Equalization using RBF Networks

  • In this paper, a modified Fuzzy C-Means (MFCM) algorithm is presented for nonlinear blind channel equalization. The proposed MFCM searches the optimal channel output states of a nonlinear channel, based on the Bayesian likelihood fitness function instead of a conventional Euclidean distance measure. In its searching procedure, all of the possible desired channel states are constructed with the elements of estimated channel output states. The desired state with the maximum Bayesian fitness is selected and placed at the center of a Radial Basis Function (RBF) equalizer to reconstruct transmitted symbols. In the simulations, binary signals are generated at random with Gaussian noise. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of a hybrid genetic algorithm (GA merged with simulated annealing (SA): GASA), and the relatively high accuracy and fast searching speed are achieved.

  • Electrical power distribution systems are critical links between the utility and customer. In general, power distribution systems have unbalanced feeders due to the unbalanced loading. The devices that dependent on balanced three phase supply are affected by the unbalanced feeders. This necessitates the balancing of feeders. The main objective of reconfiguration is to balance the loads among the phases subject to constraints such as load flow equations, capacity and voltage constraints and to reduce the real power loss, while subject to a radial network structure in which all loads must be energized. Therefore, the distribution system reconfiguration problem has been viewed as multi-objective problem. In this paper, the hybrid heuristic algorithm has been used for reconfiguration, which is the combination of fuzzy and greedy algorithms. The purpose of the introduction of greedy is to refrain the searching for the period of phase balancing. The incorporation of fuzzy helps to take up more objectives amid phase balancing in the searching. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through modified IEEE 33 bus and modified IEEE 125 bus radial distribution system.

An improvement on fuzzy seismic fragility analysis using gene expression programming

  • This paper develops a comparatively time-efficient methodology for performing seismic fragility analysis of the reinforced concrete (RC) buildings in the presence of uncertainty sources. It aims to appraise the effectiveness of any variation in the material's mechanical properties as epistemic uncertainty, and the record-to-record variation as aleatory uncertainty in structural response. In this respect, the fuzzy set theory, a well-known 𝛼-cut approach, and the Genetic Algorithm (GA) assess the median of collapse fragility curves as a fuzzy response. GA is requisite for searching the maxima and minima of the objective function (median fragility herein) in each membership degree, 𝛼. As this is a complicated and time-consuming process, the authors propose utilizing the Gene Expression Programming-based (GEP-based) equation for reducing the computational analysis time of the case study building significantly. The results indicate that the proposed structural analysis algorithm on the derived GEP model is able to compute the fuzzy median fragility about 33.3% faster, with errors less than 1%.

  • 최근 초고속 인터넷, 모바일, 디지털 컨버전스 단계를 거치면서 유비쿼더스(Ubiquitous) 사회는 점차 가시화 되고 있다. 현재 일상적인 통신뿐만 아니라 경제 및 산업 분야로 다양하게 확산되고 있다. 특히 RFID와 네비게이션(Navigation) 시스템은 국내 외적으로 많은 분야에 사용되고 있으며 점점 발전하고 경제적 산업적으로 국가 경쟁력 향상에 도움을 줄 것이다. 하지만 이러한 RFID와 네비게이션의 활용 범위를 살펴보면 가장 일반적인 경우에 치중되어있다. 본 논문에서는 RFID와 네비게이션을 사용하여 개별화된 특성과 환경 상태 정보를 반영하고 그것을 사용하는 사용자들의 특성을 고려하여 변화하는 환경에 적응하기 쉬운 시스템을 제안하고 특정 환경에서 어떠한 정보가 이에 활용될 수 있는지를 정의한다. 또한 여러가지 정보를 이용하여 지능형 경로 탐색 및 안내 시스템을 위해 퍼지 로직과 TSP 개념을 적용한다.

정보 검색에서 확장 퍼지 개념 네트워크를 이용한 문서 순의 결정 방법 (Document Ranking Method using Extended Fuzzy Concept Networks in Information Retrieval)

  • 정보 검색은 사용자가 필요로 하는 요구에 가장 적합한 정보를 검색할수 있어야 한다. 정보 검색에서 질의어가 문서에 대하여 어느 정도의 유사성을 가지고 존재하는냐를 기준으로 문서를 순서화 할 때, 실제 순서화된 문서들을 보면 질의어와는 다른 문서들이 순서화 되는 경우를 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 확장 퍼지 개념 네트워크에 근거 문서 검색을 위한 순의 결정 방법을 제안한다. 확장 퍼지 개념 네트워크에는 개념들 사이에 4가지의 퍼지 관계가 있다. 퍼지 양의 조합, 퍼지 음의 조합, 퍼지 일반화, 및 퍼지 세분화등이 있다. 확장 퍼지 개념 네트워크는 관계 행렬과 관련 행렬로 모델화 하여, 유사도 측정을 하였다.

Maximum Power Point Tracking in PMSG Using Fuzzy Logic Algorithm

  • In this paper, a novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for a PMSG-based variable speed wind power system is proposed using the fuzzy logic algorithm. The control algorithm is developed based on the normal hill climb searching (HCS) method, commonly used in wind energy conversion systems (WECS). The inputs of fuzzy-based controller are the derivations of DC output power and the step size of DC/DC converter duty cycles. The main advantages of the proposed MPPT method are no need to measure the wind velocity and the generator rotational speed. As such, the control algorithm is independent of turbine characteristics, achieving the fast dynamic responses with non-linear fuzzy systems. The effectiveness of the proposed MPPT strategy has been verified through the simulated results.

퍼지로직제어에 의해 강화된 혼합유전 알고리듬 (Hybrid Genetic Algorithm Reinforced by Fuzzy Logic Controller)

  • In this paper, we suggest a hybrid genetic algorithm reinforced by a fuzzy logic controller (flc-HGA) to overcome weaknesses of conventional genetic algorithms: the problem of parameter fine-tuning, the lack of local search ability, and the convergence speed in searching process. In the proposed flc-HGA, a fuzzy logic controller is used to adaptively regulate the fine-tuning structure of genetic algorithm (GA) parameters and a local search technique is applied to find a better solution in GA loop. In numerical examples, we apply the proposed algorithm to a simple test problem and two complex combinatorial optimization problems. Experiment results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional GAs and heuristics.

동적환경에서 퍼지추론을 이용한 이동로봇의 다중센서기반의 자율주행 (Multisensor-Based Navigation of a Mobile Robot Using a Fuzzy Inference in Dynamic Environments)

  • In this paper, we propose a multisensor-based navigation algorithm for a mobile robot, which is intelligently searching the goal location in unknown dynamic environments using multi-ultrasonic sensor. Instead of using “sensor fusion” method which generates the trajectory of a robot based upon the environment model and sensory data, “command fusion” method by fuzzy inference is used to govern the robot motions. The major factors for robot navigation are represented as a cost function. Using the data of the robot states and the environment, the weight value of each factor using fuzzy inference is determined for an optimal trajectory in dynamic environments. For the evaluation of the proposed algorithm, we performed simulations in PC as well as experiments with IRL-2002. The results show that the proposed algorithm is apt to identify obstacles in unknown environments to guide the robot to the goal location safely.

  • This paper proposes a method for pattern recognition using spectral analysis and a hybrid genetic-neural-fuzzy networks. The feature vectors using spectral analysis on contour sequences of 2-D images are extracted, and the vectors are not effected by translation, rotation and scale variance. A combined model using the advantages of conventional method is proposed, those are supervised learning BP, global searching genetic algorithm, and unsupervised learning fuzzy c-method. The proposed method is applied to 10 aircraft recognition to confirm the performance of the method. The experimental results show that the proposed method is better accuracy than conventional method using BP or fuzzy c-method, and learning speed is enhanced.

Obstacle Avoidance of Mobile Robot Based on Behavior Hierarchy by Fuzzy Logic

  • In this paper, we propose a navigation algorithm for a mobile robot, which is intelligently searching the goal location in unknown dynamic environments using an ultrasonic sensor. Instead of using "sensor fusion" method which generates the trajectory of a robot based upon the environment model and sensory data, "command fusion" method is used to govern the robot motions. The navigation strategy is based on the combination of fuzzy rules tuned for both goal-approach and obstacle-avoidance. To identify the environments, a command fusion technique is introduced, where the sensory data of ultrasonic sensors and a vision sensor are fused into the identification process.
