  • An analytical framework for fuzzy modeling and control of nonlinear systems using a set of linear models is presented. Fuzzy clustering is applied on the aerodynamic coefficients of a missile to obtain an optimal number of rules in a Tagaki-Sugeno fuzzy rule-set. Next, the obtained membership functions and rule-sets are applied to a set of linear optimal controllers towards extraction of a global controller. Reported simulations demonstrate the performance, stability, and robustness of the controller.

  • This paper investigates the identification and modeling of a climate greenhouse. Given real climate data from greenhouse installed in the LAPER laboratory in Tunisia, the objective of this paper is to propose a solution of the problem of nonlinear time variant inputs and outputs of greenhouse internal climate. Based on fuzzy logic technique combined with least mean squares (lms) a robust greenhouse climate model for internal temperature prediction is proposed. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the identification approach and the power of the implemented Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy model based Algorithm.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new structure of fuzzy-neural networks Fuzzy Set-based Polynomial Neural Networks (FSPNN). The two underlying design mechanisms of such networks involve genetic optimization and information granulation. The resulting constructs are Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks (FPNN) with fuzzy set-based polynomial neurons (FSPNs) regarded as their generic processing elements. First, we introduce a comprehensive design methodology (viz. a genetic optimization using Genetic Algorithms) to determine the optimal structure of the FSPNNs. This methodology hinges on the extended Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) and fuzzy set-based rules. It concerns FSPNN-related parameters such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial, the number of membership functions, and a collection of a specific subset of input variables realized through the mechanism of genetic optimization. Second, the fuzzy rules used in the networks exploit the notion of information granules defined over systems variables and formed through the process of information granulation. This granulation is realized with the aid of the hard C- Means clustering (HCM). The performance of the network is quantified through experimentation in which we use a number of modeling benchmarks already experimented with in the realm of fuzzy or neurofuzzy modeling.

  • The interest of data mining in artificial intelligence with fuzzy logic has been increased. Data mining is a process of extracting desirable knowledge and interesting pattern ken large data set. Because of expansion of WWW, web data is more and more huge. Besides mining web contents and web structures, another important task for web mining is web usage mining which mines web log data to discover user access pattern. The goal of web usage mining in this paper is to find interesting user pattern in the web with user feedback. It is very important to find user's characteristic fer e-business environment. In Customer Relationship Management, recommending product and sending e-mail to user by extracted users characteristics are needed. Using our method, we extract user profile from the result of web usage mining. In this research, we concentrate on finding association rules and verify validity of them. The proposed procedure can integrate fuzzy set concept and association rule. Fuzzy association rule uses given server log file and performs several preprocessing tasks. Extracted transaction files are used to find rules by fuzzy web usage mining. To verify the validity of user's feedback, the web log data from our laboratory web server.

  • This paper deal with uncertainty problem by using Type-2 fuzzy logic set for nonlinear system modeling. We design Type-2 fuzzy logic system in which the antecedent and the consequent part of rules are given as Type-2 fuzzy set and also analyze the performance of the ensuing nonlinear model with uncertainty. Here, the apexes of the antecedent membership functions of rules are decided by C-means clustering algorithm and the apexes of the consequent membership functions of rules are learned by using back-propagation based on gradient decent method. Also, the parameters related to the fuzzy model are optimized by means of particle swarm optimization. The proposed model is demonstrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples, such as mathematical synthetic data set and Mackey-Glass time series data set and also we discuss the approximation as well as generalization abilities for the model.

  • Fuzzy sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain nonlinear dynamical systems is proposed and analyzed. The controller's construction and its analysis involve sliding modes. The proposed controller consists of two components. Sliding mode component is employed to eliminate the effects of disturbances, while a fuzzy model component equipped with an adaptation mechanism reduces modeling uncertainties by approximating model uncertainties. To demonstrate its performance, the proposed control algorithm is applied to an inverted pendulum. The results show that both alleviation of chattering and performance are achieved.

  • As current manufacturing processes require high spindle speed and precise machining, increasing accuracy by reducing volumetric errors of the machine itself, particularly thermal errors, is very important. Thermal errors can be estimated by many empirical models, for example, an FEM model, a neural network model, a linear regression model, an engineering judgment model, etc. This paper discusses to make a modeling of thermal errors efficiently through backward elimination and fuzzy logic strategy. The model of a thermal error using fuzzy logic strategy overcomes limitation of accuracy in the linear regression model or the engineering judgment model. It shows that the fuzzy model has more better performance than linear regression model, though it has less number of thermal variables than the other. The fuzzy model does not need to have complex procedure such like multi-regression and to know the characteristics of the plant, and the parameters of the model can be mathematically calculated. Also, the fuzzy model can be applied to any machine, but it delivers greater accuracy and robustness.

  • A modeling of vision based robot formation control system using fuzzy logic controller and extended Kalman filter is presented in this paper. The main problems affecting formation controls using fuzzy logic controller and vision based robots are: a robot's position in a formation need to be maintained, how to develop the membership function in order to obtain the optimal fuzzy system control that has the ability to do the formation control and the noise coming from camera process changes the position of references view. In order to handle these problems, we propose a fuzzy logic controller system equipped with a dynamic output membership function that controls the speed of the robot wheels to handle the maintenance position in formation. The output membership function changes over time based on changes in input at time t-1 to t. The noises appearing in image processing change the virtual target point positions are handled by Extended Kalman filter. The virtual target positions are established in order to define the formations. The virtual target point positions can be changed at any time in accordance with the desired formation. These algorithms have been validated through simulation. The simulations confirm that the follower robots reach their target point in a short time and are able to maintain their position in the formation although the noises change the target point positions.

  • In this paper, we describe a notion of sensor modeling method in multisensor data fusion using fuzzy set theory. Each sensor module is characterized by its fuzzy constraints to specific features of environment. These sensor fuzzy constraints can be imposed on multisensory data to verify their degree of truth and compatibility toward the final decision making. In comparison with other sensor modeling methods, such as probabilistic models or rule-based models, the proposed method is very simple and can be easily implemented in intelligent robot systems.

  • The ionic Polymer Metal Composite (IPMC) is one of the electroactive polymers (EAP) that was shown to have potential application as an actuator It bends by applying a low voltage current (1∼3 V) to its surfaces when containing water In this paper, the basic characteristics and the static & dynamic modeling of IPMC is discussed. In modeling and analysis, the equations of motion, which describe the total dynamics of the system, are driven. To control the position of the IPMC actuator, an adaptive fuzzy algorithm is used. IPMC is a time varying system because the some parameters vary with the passage of time. In this paper, the modeling and control of IPMC is introduced.
