In this study, for the safety performance of LNG storage tank, the fracture toughness in X-grooved weld HAZ(heat-affected zone) of $9\%$ Ni steel was evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively, and the relation with the change in microstructure was analyzed. The toughness assessment was peformed through the modified CTOD test proposed for thick weldment with X-groove. Additionally, microstructures of HAZ were evaluated by OM, SEM and XRD. From the results, HAZ toughness of SMA(shielded metal arc)-welded $9\%$ Ni steel decreased as the evaluated region approached the fusion line. The decrease in toughness was apparently caused by the increase in the fraction of coarse-grained zone within HAZ. On the other hand, toughness drop with decreasing test temperature in F.L.(fusion line) ${\~}$F.L.+3mm was larger than that in F.L.+5mm${\~}$F.L.+7mm region due to the fact that in the former regions, retained austenite had poor stability.

TiCrN layers (Ti : Cr = 20 : 80 and 5 : 95 wt%) were deposited on Inconel 617 and the effect of TiCrN coating on the high temperature stability of Inconel 617 up to $1000^{\circ}C$ was examined. XRD analysis and microstructural observation showed that vigorous and inhomogenous Cr diffusion to the surface was suppressed by TiCrN layer compare to the uncoated Inconel 617. This led to a distinctive enhancement in thermal oxidation resistance of Inconel 617.

The influence of thermal treatment and cold drawing was investigated for poly(ethy1ene terephthalate) films
fabricated with various experimental conditions. Samples were elongated at room temperature under stepwise-drawing
condition with the cross-head speed kom 0.5 to 500 mrdmin in an universal tester. Stress oscillation was observed in
the stress-stnin curve of the samples heat-treatd at 50, 72 and $129^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, but it was not observed in the samples
heat-treatd at $83^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Thermal analyses of the samples were carried out in differential scanning calorimeter at
the heating rate df $10^{\circ}C$/min/min, and the glass transition temperature, crystallization peak, enthalpy of fusion and degree
of crystallinity were measured. The dynamic mechanical analyses of the samples were also carried out in a multiplefimction
internal kiction pendulum at 1 Hz with the heating rate of $1.5^{\circ}C$/min, and it was found that the elastic modulus
increases in the order of non-treated, heat-treated, and elongated samples.
Pressurized fluidized bed combustion unit is operated at pressures of 1~1.5 MPa with combustion temperatures of 850~87$0^{\circ}C$. The pressurized coal combustion system heats steam, in conventional heat transfer tubing, and produces a hot gas supplied to a gas turbine. Gas cleaning is a vital aspect of the system, as is the ability of the turbine to cope with some residual solids. The need to pressurize the feed coal, limestone and combustion air, and to depressurize the flue gases and the ash removal system introduces some significant operating complications. The proportion of power coming from the steam : gas turbines is approximately 80:20%. Pressurized fluidized bed combustion and generation by the combined cycle route involves unique control considerations, as the combustor and gas turbine have to be properly matched through the whole operating range. The gas turbines are rather special, in that the maximum gas temperature available from the FBC is limited by ash fusion characteristics. As no ash softening should take place, the maximum gas temperature is around 90$0^{\circ}C$. As a result a high pressure ratio gas turbine with compression intercooling is used. This is to offset the effects of the relatively low temperature at the turbine inlet.
We report temperature and strain sensing characteristics of two kinds of in-line fiber interferometers. One interferometer consists of a section of Hollow Optical Fiber(HOF) spliced between two Photonic Bandgap Fibers(PBGF) and the other is built by splicing a section of HOF between two Large Mode Area-Photonic Crystal Fibers(LMA-PCF). To minimize the splice losses, we carefully optimized the heating time and arc current of the splicer so as not to collapse the air holes of the fiber. It is found that the first interferometer has a temperature sensitivity of 15.4 pm/$^{\circ}C$ and a strain sensitivity of 0.24 pm/${\mu}\varepsilon$. The other interferometer exhibits a temperature sensitivity of 17.4 pm/$^{\circ}C$ and a strain sensitivity of 0.2 pm/${\mu}\varepsilon$.

The purpose of this study was 1) to estimate the improvement of thermal storage/release and moisture transport properties of PEG-treated acrylic athletic socks and suggest the optimum add-on for PEG treatment, 2) to investigate wear performance of untreated cocks and two kinds of socks treated with PEG of minimum and optimum add-on respectively, and 3) to consider the effect of thermal storage/release and moisture transport properties of PEG- treated socks on the wear performance and the subjective comfort zone. Thermal activities of specimens treated by PDC were evaluated on a DSC by measuring the heat of fusion on heating and the heat of crystallization on cooling. Moisture regain, absorption speed, wickability, water retenti on value, and water-vapor permeability were measured. In the wear trials that the subjects performed a subsequent exercise protocol wearing three differently treated socks in a conditioned environment ($14\pm2^{\circ}C$, 65$\pm$2% R.H.), microclimate temperature and humidity, and subjective wear sensations including thermal sensation, wettedness, softness, fit, and overall comfort were obtained. PEC-treated specimens with more than 20% add-on showed thermal storage on heating and thermal release on cooling by a DSC and the heat contents of treated ones were generally proportional to the add-ons. Moisture transport properties were highly improved after PEG treatment and increased rapidly with increasing add-on. The tendencies were, however, relaxed above 50% add-on and the treated knits were much stiffer above that add-on. In the wear trials of untreated, PEG add-on 20%, and 50% acrylic socks, the changes of microclimate temperature of 50% socks were significantly less than that of 20% socks. PEG add-on 50% socks showed significantly less changes of microclimate humidity than other two kinds of socks. Three kinds of socks showed significant differences in overall comfort and add-on 50% socks were accepted more comfortable than other two kinds of socks. Comfort zone of foot was extended after PEG treatment on socks and it implied that the subjects wearing PEG- treated socks felt comfortable in wider ranges of microclimate temperature and humidity.
This study was conducted to observe the removal efficiency of oil-contaminated soil by various tests using microwaves and high-temperature heating elements. The water content was measured with the treatment amount, which was lowered to 300g in a relatively short amount of time. The treatment rate of TPH(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) showed the highest value with 70.1% when the SiC-activated carbon heating element was at 4 kW/kg, compared to the SiC heating element used alone. In particular, the higher electric power became, the higher treatment rate became, except at 3 kW. In the case of the heating element made by the fusion of SiC and activated carbon, the internal temperature exceeded $300^{\circ}C$ and again fell when it was treated at 4 kW for about 2 minutes. Then, after about 8 minutes, it rose again. On the basis of such results, the energy content necessary for the sample was calculated according to the electric power of microwaves, and tthe constant of TPH treatment was measured by tests on the treatment characteristics of oil-contaminated soil.

The effects of impurities of the quartz raw materials on the trasformation of quartz to cristobalite were investigated. As the increase of impurities content, the amount of cristobalite crystal increased, whereas the fusion temperature of quartz and the formation temperature of cristobalite decreased. And the courses of the transformation of quartz to cristobalite were examined. The course of quartz $\rightarrow$ transitional noncrystalline phase $\rightarrow$ melt (T) and quartz $\rightarrow$ transitional noncrystalline phase $\rightarrow$ cristobalite $\rightarrow$ melt (C) were always coexisted on the transformation of quartz. In the case of high purity quartz raw material, the T course was predominant, while in low purity quartz raw material, the C course was predominant. And the calculated density of heat treated sand by the quantitative analysis of quartz and cristobalite phase by XRD is well agreed with the measured density by pycnometer. On the melting proces of quartz glass, the volume expansion of sand at a certain temperature can be estimated with the calculated density data.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the appropriate amounts of phase change materials to give objective and subjective wear sensations. Vapor-permeable water-repellent fabrics with (WR-PCM) and without (WR) octadecane containing microcapsules were obtained by wet-porous coating process. Then, calculating the area of the WR-PCM treated clothes, we estimated the total calories of the clothing by multiplying the heat of fusion and heat of crystallization of PCM to the calculated area. Wear tests were conducted in both warm environment $(30^{\circ}C,\;65\%\;RH)$ and cold environment $(5^{\circ}C,\;65\%\;RH)$ with sports warm up style experimental garments made with WR and WR-PCM fabrics. Rectal, skin, and clothing microclimate temperatures, saliva and subjective evaluation measurements were done during the wear test. There was no difference of rectal and mean skin temperatures between WR and WR-PCM, but the clothing microclimate temperature of WR-PCM under warm environment was slightly lower than that of WR. In cold environment, WR-PCM showed much higher temperature than in WR. Saliva change did not appear between clothes, but did between two environments. Although subjective sensation between WR and WR-PCM was not significantly different, WR-PCM was rated as cooler than WR in warm environment and as warmer than WR in cold environment. The results of this study indicated that octadecane containing microcapsules in water-repellent fabric provide cooling effect.

This is direct bonding many of the metal bumps between FPCB and HPCB substrate. By using an ultrasonic horn mounted on an ultrasonic bonding machine, it is possible to bond gold pads onto the FPCB and HPCB at room temperature without an adhesive like ACA or NCA and high heat and solder. This ultrasonic bonding technology minimizes damage to the material. The process conditions evaluated for obtaining a greater bonding strength than 0.6 kgf, which is commercially required, were 40 kHz of frequency; 0.6MPa of bonding pressure; and 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 s of bonding time. The peel off test was performed for evaluating bonding strength, which was found to be more than 0.80 kgf.
