Interactions among Measles Virus Hemagglutinin, Fusion Protein and Cell Receptor Signaling Lymphocyte Activation Molecule (SLAM) Indicating a New Fusion-trimer Model

  • For measles viruses, fusion on the cell membrane is an important initial step in the entry into the infected cells. The recent research indicated that hemagglutinin firstly leads the conformational changes in the fusion protein then co-mediates the membrane fusion. In the work, we use the co-immunoprecipitation and pull-down techniques to identify the interactions among fusion protein, hemagglutinin and signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM), which reveal that the three proteins can form a functional complex to mediate the SLAM-dependent fusion. Moreover, under the confocal microscope, fusion protein and hemagglutinin protein can show the cocapping mediated by the SLAM. So fusion protein not only is involved in the fusion but also might directly interact with the SLAM to be a new fusion-trimer model, which might account for the infection mechanism of measles virus.

  • 변압기 기계적 손상의 주요 원인은 단락전류에 의해 발생하는 전자기력이다. 상용 변압기는 특정 수준의 기계적 강도를 견디게 설계 되어야 하며 단락전류에 의한 변압기 특성 변화를 검증하기 위한 단락성능시험은 국제 표준에 따라 시행되어야 한다. ITER CS 3상 정류기 변압기의 단락시험은 IEC 표준에 따라 전기연구원에서 시행되었으며 그 결과를 본 논문에서 소개하고자 한다.

  • ITER 초전도자석 전원공급장치의 통합제어를 위한 마스터제어기는 각 플랜트시스템(CCPS, TFPS, PFCS)에 대한 3개의 MCS로 구성되며, 전체 전원장치 I&C 시스템의 통합을 위하여 플랜트 레벨에서의 PSH 통합이 필요하다. ITER 제어시스템에서 제공하는 플랜트 시스템 I&C의 통합 기능을 이용하여 통합시 고려해야 하는 문제점 및 이슈들을 조사하여, 향후 마스터제어기의 통합 시험에 필요한 기능들을 사전에 점검하고, 통합오류를 최적화하여 마스터 제어기 제작 및 시험에 적용하고자 한다.

  • We developed the Hyper-thermal Neutral Beam (HNB) sputtering process as a plasma damage free process for ITO top anode deposition on inverted Top emission OLED (ITOLED). For examining the effect of the HNB sputtering system, Inverted Bottom emission OLEDs (IBOLED) with ITO top anode electrode were fabricated; the characteristics of IBOLED using HNB sputtering process shows significant suppression of plasma induced damage.

  • We have studied the optically compensated splay (OCS) mode using reactive mesogen monomer to reduce critical voltage, setting voltage and phase transition time from initial bend to splay state. The high pretilt angle from vertical alignment was formed through the polymerization of UV curable RM monomer at the surfaces. In this way, orientation of the LC with OCS can be achieved without setting voltage.

  • In order to achieve low power consumption and the uniform power spectrum of LED BLU (Back Light Unit) system, new circuits with a 2 stage L-C (Inductor-Capacitor) coupler have been proposed. From the simulation results based on our proposed model, the ripple power of the L-C regulation-embedded BLU circuit shows a dramatic reduction by more than 89.3% as compared to the normal BLU (without L-C circuits). This indicates that the proposed circuit is very promising for the realization of high-efficiency BLU circuits.

  • 플라즈마 물성데이터는 플라즈마 내에서 일어나는 입자(전자, 원자, 이온분자 등) 들의 충돌에 의해 발생되는 데이터로써 플라즈마 현상을 이해하는 필수 데이터이며, 다양한 분야에서 응용되고 있다. 플라즈마 물성데이터를 산업계에서 지속적으로 참조하여 사용할 수 있도록 만든 수치데이터나 통계자료를 플라즈마 물성 참조데이터라고 한다. 기존 플라즈마 물성데이터 센터의 플라즈마 물성 참조데이터 수집평가 시스템은 사용자가 이용하고자 하는 플라즈마 물성 참조데이터를 일일이 자신의 시스템에 맞춰 데이터를 다시 가공해야 하는 어려움이 있어 데이터를 효율적인 관리하고 다양한 분야에 적용하기 위한 XML Schema 설계 대해 논의한다.

  • ITER AC/DC 컨버터는 토카막 시스템의 안전성 확보를 위하여 단락 조건에서의 높은 내구성이 요구된다. 단락시험은 크게 컨버터 출력단 단락시험과 컨버터 내부 단락시험으로 구분된다. 컨버터 출력단 단락시험은 단락시험 조건에서의 전력장치의 내구성과 브릿지 스위치의 전류 분배특성 및 Bypass 스위치 동작 특성을 확인하기 위한 것이며, 컨버터 내부 단락시험은 기계적 구조물 안전성 검증을 위한 것이다. ITER CS AC/DC 컨버터의 단락시험은 전기연구원에서 시행되었으며 본 논문에서는 컨버터 출력단 단락시험 결과를 소개하고자 한다.

  • Kex2 protease (Kex2p) is a membrane-bound serine protease responsible for the proteolytic maturation of various secretory proteins by cleaving after dibasic residues in the late Golgi network. In this study, we present an application of Kex2p as an alternative endoprotease for the in vitro processing of recombinant fusion proteins produced by the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The proteins were expressed with a fusion partner connected by a Kex2p cleavage sequence for enhanced expression and easy purification. To avoid in vivo processing of fusion proteins by Kex2p during secretion and to guarantee efficient removal of the fusion partners by in vitro Kex2p processing, P1', P2', P4, and P3 sites of Kex2p cleavage sites were elaborately manipulated. The general use of Kex2p in recombinant protein production was confirmed using several recombinant proteins.

Discharge Characteristics of Large-Area High-Power RF Ion Source for Neutral Beam Injector on Fusion Devices

  • The large-area high-power radio-frequency (RF) driven ion sources based on the negative hydrogen (deuterium) ion beam extraction are the major components of neutral beam injection (NBI) systems in future large-scale fusion devices such as an ITER and DEMO. Positive hydrogen (deuterium) RF ion sources were the major components of the second NBI system on ASDEX-U tokamak. A test large-area high-power RF ion source (LAHP-RaFIS) has been developed for steady-state operation at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) to extract the positive ions, which can be used for the NBI heating and current drive systems in the present fusion devices, and to extract the negative ions for negative ion-based plasma heating and for future fusion devices such as a Fusion Neutron Source and Korea-DEMO. The test RF ion source consists of a driver region, including a helical antenna and a discharge chamber, and an expansion region. RF power can be transferred at up to 10 kW with a fixed frequency of 2 MHz through an optimized RF matching system. An actively water-cooled Faraday shield is located inside the driver region of the ion source for the stable and steady-state operations of RF discharge. The characteristics and uniformities of the plasma parameter in the RF ion source were measured at the lowest area of the expansion bucket using two RF-compensated electrostatic probes along the direction of the short- and long-dimensions of the expansion region. The plasma parameters in the expansion region were characterized by the variation of loaded RF power (voltage) and filling gas pressure.
