  • As the contemporary times entered, the attention focused on the 'human's perception on a space' as much as on that a space's physical structure, so the meaning of a space became defined depending on how a person thought over and behaved in the space. As this age is the times of consilience and integration, a space accepts new technologies beyond being defined simply based on the space's structure and its shape and tries to provide different, 'strange experiences' from tho se felt by the human until now. Recently in the filed of space design, it can be seen that the spae design's connection with various technologies affects on considerable influence on the all fields of culture and arts like space marketings, media arts, exhibitions and performances as well as the buildings. Especially. the fusion of digital images and architecture is actively developed. Images possessing the moving light's attributes shine a city night and day and a building changes a city's appearance itself by adding new materials on the surface of building. It is the purpose of this study to study what new experiences the human gets and creates from his interaction with spaces based on such technological fusion. By studying some cases that used the digital media as a mediating instrument as the way presenting spatial experiences to the human, this study intended to identify what design factors were applied and to find appropriate directions for space desig in relation to what new trials can be done.

  • Purpose: This study is to present basic data on the Architectural planning of the college of medicine by arranging the functional zoning planning, functional unit planning, and circulation planning, based on the diversification of medical education and the changes of Learning spaces. Methods: This study was conducted by literature review on existing medical education method and learning space planning. And then on-site surveys and questionnaire were conducted on existing facilities. Results: The diversification of medical education has already been progressing for a long time, and the development of information technology is integrated into the learning space, and the evolution of the learning method and the flexibility of the learning space give effect to the change of the learning space. ① This study reconstructed the existing classification method of university facilities into the fuctional zoning method that combines the architectural concept of function and movement. ② The functions and functional units of the college of medicine according to the proposed functional zone were arranged, and the space required for the medical college was suggested. ③ The function and type of movement of medical college can be classified into professor/student fusion type, teaching and research separation type, and learning and learning shared space integrated arrangement type. In the future, it is necessary to consider fusion type or integrated arrangement type rather than separation type. Implications: the evolution of the learning method and the flexibility of the learning space give effect to the change of the learning space.

Very long life fatigue behaviors of 16Mn steel and welded joint

  • Very long life fatigue tests were carried out on 16Mn steel base metal and its welded joint by using the ultrasonic fatigue testing technique. Specimen shapes (round and plate) were considered for both the base metal and welded joint. The results show that the specimens present different S-N curve characteristics in the region of $10^5-10^9$ cycles. The round specimens showed continuously decreasing tendency while plate specimens showed a steep decreasing step and an asymptotic horizontal one. The fatigue strength of round specimen was found higher than plate specimen. The fatigue strength of as-welded joint was 45.0% of the base material for butt joint and 40% for cruciform as-welded joint. It was found that fracture can still occur in butt joint beyond $5{\times}10^6$ cycles. The cruciform joint has a fatigue limit in the very long life fatigue regime ($10^7-10^9$ cycles). Fatigue strength of butt as-welded joint was much higher as compared to cruciform as-welded joint. Improvement in fatigue strength of welded joint was found due to UPT. The observation of fracture surface showed crack mainly initiated from welded toe at fusion areas or geometric discontinuity sites at the surface in butt joint and from welded toe in cruciform joint.

  • Web 2.0 and Semantic Web technology will be merged to be a next generation Web that leads presentation-oriented Web to data-centric Web. In the next generation Web. semantic processing. Web Platform, and data fusion are most important technology factors. Resolving the Link Rot is the one of the essential technologies to enable these features. The Link Rot causes not only simple annoyances to users but also more serious problems including data integrity. loss of knowledge. breach of service. and so forth. We have suggested a new XRI-based persistent Web link architecture to cure the Link Rot that has been considered as a deep-seated Problem of the Web. The Proposed architecture is based on the XRI suggested by OASIS and it is designed to support a persistent link by using URL rewriting. Since the architecture is designed as a server-side technology, it is superior to existing research especially in Interoperability. Transparency and Adoptability. In addition to this, the architecture provides a metadata identification to be used fer context-aware link resolution.

  • This research explains a new process in architecture frameworks. A complete analysis on implementation of the specific frameworks can be conducted by a special system. Moreover, the system can be installed anywhere, and it produces a unique result, which is customized based on the contents of architectural designs by users. Before using the system, an architect should think about the design and the process of constructing frameworks because a computer sometimes computes misleading results although the architect describes architectural structures, which the designer wants. If the architect inputs the same process into the computer, and the result of frameworks changes, it is not a proper architectural design. Hence, a tool, which precisely treats data, is needed. Therefore, when constructing the proper architecture, a new paradigm of architecture should be used to distinguish the issues of discussion by using various data. Also, based on this information, an apartment housing complex design, related to possible parameters, which can be expressed by combining various fusion tables and geocloud, and architectural designs, is proposed.

Art Mask Designs with Decorative Characteristics of the Rococo Age (로코코 시대의 장식적 특성을 응용한 아트마스크 디자인)

  • The purpose of this study was to categorize the decorative characteristics of the Rococo Age, which displays the most glamorous and elegant decorative beauty, in architecture, interior decorations, paintings, and patterns, and to analyze these characteristics and graft them onto art masks in a modern way. Piece I is a mixed media piece that based its motif on the ceilings and pulpits of the German Vis Pilgrimage Church, which is representative architecture of the Rococo Age. It was glamorously produced using gold and cubic zirconia. Piece II is also a mixed media piece that borrowed its motif from the exterior and gazebo of the Sanssouci Palace in Germany, another representative piece of architecture from the Rococo Age, and it was produced to clearly display the image of the Sanssouci Palace, using emerald and ivory. Piece III applies the furniture trends of the Rococo Age. Curves in S and C shapes, which can often be found in Chinese furniture, along with dark backgrounds, common in portrait paintings, were applied to give a sense of weight and dignity. Piece IV is an application of the fabric patterns of the Rococo Age. Continuous patterns of flowers and greenery stems were drawn on the mask to recreate the fabric patterns of the age. Piece V used the painting 'Swing' of the Rococo Age as its inspiration. Lace and ribbon decorations were used to emphasize feminine beauty and express the loveliness of the woman that appears in the painting. Piece VI borrows from the painting 'Madame de Pompadour' of the Rococo Age and the clothing worn by Pompadour. This piece grafted colors and themes through the painting and expressed a fusion of the dresses of Pompadour and lace that is clearly displayed in the architecture, paintings, clothing, interior decorations, and patterns of the Rococo Age, along with the rocaille (asymmetrically shaped decorations that resemble clams), flowers, leaves, stems, and Chinoiserie styles. These motifs clearly display the decorative characteristics of the age and these were grafted them onto art masks, confirming that it is possible to create new designs.

A Study on Maximalism in the Modern Fashion - Focused on the 2000s - (현대 패션에 표현된 맥시멀리즘에 관한 연구 - 2000년대를 중심으로 -)

  • The tendency of exuberant multi-everything, enormous volumes and decoration has been showed in fashion since the 21st century. This tendency is very interesting in contrast to the tendency of restraint, simplicity and removing decoration which has been showed in the modern fashion throughout the 20th Century and especially minimalism fashion in the 1960s and the 1990s with the expectation of New Millenium. Maximalism is this kind of exuberant expression emerged since 2000. However, studies about maximalism in fashion have not been performed enough. Thus this study tried to analyze the aesthetic characteristics of maximalism in the modern fashion according to the previous studies of maximalism in design and architecture with social cultural background. The scope of this study was from 2000 to 2006, and this study was performed through literature survey with demonstrative analyzation of fashion collection photographs. The results are as follows; Maximalism has the meaning of 'maximum oriented-ism' and has aesthetic view of 'more/bigger is more beautiful.' The formativeness of maximalism in modern fashion was analyzed as fusion, enlargement, decoration, and fantasy. The internal meaning was analyzed as recovery of human being through pursuing of sensibility, fun and newness.

Experimental Study on Aseismic Performance Existing School Buildings due to the Steel Reinforcement (강재 보강에 따른 기존 학교건축물의 내진성능에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The core aim of this paper is to empirically scrutinize a strength characteristic and ductility of the beam-column frame of reinforced with steel subjected to the cyclic lateral load. First and foremost, I the author embarks upon making four prototypes vis-$\grave{a}$-vis this research. Through this endeavour, the author has analysed cyclic behavior, fracture shape, ductility and energy dissipation of the normal beam-column frame and a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel. In addition, the survey has revealed the exact stress transfer path and the destructive mechanism in order to how much a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel has resistance to earthquake regarding all types of building, as well as school construction. To get the correct data, the author has compared the normal beam-column frame and three types of the beam-column frame of reinforced with steel following these works, the characteristic of cyclic behavior, destructive mechanism, ductility, and Energy dissipation of normal beam-column frame and a beam-column frame of reinforced with steel have been examined clearly.

  • This paper introduces the world's first programmable video-processing platform for the enhancement of the video quality of the 8K(7680x4320) UHD(Ultra High Definition) TV operating up to 60 frames per second. In order to support required computing capacity and memory bandwidth, the proposed platform implemented several key features such as symmetric multi-cluster architecture for parallel data processing, a ring-data path between the clusters for data pipelining and hardware accelerators for computing filter operations. The proposed platform based on RP(Reconfigurable Processor) processes video quality enhancement algorithms and handles effectively new UHD broadcasting standards and display panels.

  • In this paper an intelligence embedding quadruped pet robot is described. It has 15 degrees of freedom and consists of various sensors such as CMOS image, voice recognition and sound localization, inclinometer, thermistor, real-time clock, tactile touch, PIR and IR to allows owners to interact with pet robot according to human's intention as well as the original features of pet animals. The architecture is flexible and adopts various embedded processors for handling sensors to provide modular structure. The pet robot is also used for additional purpose such like security, gaming visual tracking, and research platform. It is possible to generate various actions and behaviors and to download voice or music files to maintain a close relation of users. With cost-effective sensor, the pet robot is able to find its recharge station and recharge itself when its battery runs low. To facilitate programming of the robot, we support several development environments. Therefore, the developed system is a low-cost programmable entertainment robot platform.
