  • According to a miniaturization and integration of electric device, a little size of fuse satisfying the current carrying capacity as well as an explosive tolerance and current interrupt rating are required. Fe-Ni alloy is applied to decrease an oxidation of fuse elements. A resistance and T.C.R(temperature coefficient of resistance) of a fuse are analyzed by changing a content of Ni And full rated current I-T curve from 1A to 6.3A has been tested. In order to an explosive energy, a straight wire type is selected to reduce a fuse melting time. An interrupt rating test was conducted by changing a content of Ni and the optimal content of Ni is to be 40%.

  • We analyze the problem of recloser-fuse coordination when a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) is installed to a power distribution system. Generally, The recloser is installed to upstream of fuse to protect against both permanent fault and temporary one appropriately. However, in a power distribution system with SFCL, the fault current is decreased by the effect of the impedance value of the SFCL and when a permanent fault occurs, the fuse may not melt during the last delay operation of the recloser because of the insufficient heat from the decreased current. Therefore, when SFCLs are applied into a power distribution system, the rating of the fuse has to be reselected to coordinate recloser to fuse effectively. To solve these problems, this paper analysed the operation of recloser-fuse coordination and presented the improved recloser-fuse coordination method in a power distribution system with SFCL using PSCAD/EMTDC.

  • Recently, Illumination industry of LED module has been focused to industry technology for energy conservation of nation. The LED device is excellent to power efficiency due to semiconductor light source element. And the application to the lighting circuit technology can be designed to the sensitive lighting system for human sensitivity control. In this paper, as a process for analyzing the operating temperature of standardized electronic device including LED device has analyzed about fusing character with in designed micro fuse for electronic device protection from the over current. Using the de-rating technique, which is performed to micro fuse fusing test in the range of $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ thermostatic chamber. To the output data in each temperature zone, it is performed to first-order linear fitting. Additionally, applying the resistance temperature coefficient and statistical data for the reliable analysis has derived to the metal element resistance of micro fuse with temperature change of the thermostatic chamber. As a research result, The changed temperature effect of thermostatic chamber was confirmed regarding fusing time change.

  • This paper dealt with melting characteristics of low-voltage miniature cartridge fuse used for 220 V electronic equipment. The experimental sample is low-voltage miniature cartridge fuse with rating of 250 V(3A) and size of $5{\times}20$ mm. In order to evaluate melting and scattering characteristics of the fuse, we applied to 8/20 ${\mu}s$ surge current, overload current and external thermal stress such as flame of fire. From the experimental results, the fuse element was melted and scattered by applied surge current(above 0.79 kA) and overload current(above 4.5 A). It was also attached to the inner surface of the fuse tube. The fuse element was attached as a thin film on inner surface of fuse tube when large surge current was applied. It was confirmed, however, the fuse element was not changed by external thermal stress such as flame and hot-air.

  • In recent years, due to the spread of various renewable energy power sources and the pursuit of high efficiency and low-power consumption, not only trends in the electric power industry but also the consumption, control methods, and characteristics are diversified. However, in this diversified electric power industry, the fuse (which is the core part responsible for safety) has not developed significantly in classical operation mode, and thus, fires continue to occur. In this paper, the effects of low melting-point metal plating and high melting-point metal plating on operating characteristics and IT curve movement of the fuse are investigated in a cartridge fuse, which is a classic fuse manufacturing method. The effects of plating on the thickness of the fuse are investigated, and various operating characteristics of the fuse are implemented. In addition, it is suggested that the plating of the low melting-point metal moves the rated current line of the fuse to a low rating, and moves operating characteristics to characteristics of delay operation. It is possible to design various operating characteristics using this characteristic.

  • Trust as one of important social relations has attracted much attention from researchers in the field of social network-based recommender systems. In trust network-based recommender systems, there exist normally two roles for users, truster and trustee. Most of trust-based methods generally utilize explicit links between truster and trustee to find similar neighbors for recommendation. However, there possibly exist implicit correlations between users, especially for users with the same role (truster or trustee). In this paper, we propose a novel Collaborative Filtering method called CF-TC, which exploits Trust Context to discover implicit correlation between users with the same role for recommendation. In this method, each user is first represented by the same-role users who are co-occurring with the user. Then, similarities between users with the same role are measured based on obtained user representation. Finally, two variants of our method are proposed to fuse these computed similarities into traditional collaborative filtering for rating prediction. Using two publicly available real-world Epinions and Ciao datasets, we conduct comprehensive experiments to compare the performance of our proposed method with some existing benchmark methods. The results show that CF-TC outperforms other baseline methods in terms of RMSE, MAE, and recall.

  • We fabricated and tested a novel hybrid superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of three-phase $24kV_{rms}/630A_{rms}$ rating. In order to apply conventional resistive SFCLs into electric power systems, the urgent issues to be settled are as follows, such as initial installation price of SFCL, operation and maintenance cost due to ac loss of superconductor and the life of cryostat, and high voltage and high current problems. The ac loss and high cost of superconductor and cryostat system are main bottlenecks for real application. Furthermore in order to increase voltage and current ratings of SFCL, a lot of superconductor components should be connected in series and parallel which resulted in extreme high cost. In addition, the method to quench all components at the same instant needs very sophisticated skill and careful operation. Due to these problems, the practical applications of SFCL were pending. Therefore, in order to make practical SFCL, the price of SFCL should be lowered and should meet the demand of utilities. We designed novel hybrid SFCL which combines superconductor and conventional electric equipment including vacuum interrupter, power fuse and current limiting reactor. The main purpose of hybrid SFCL is to drastically reduce total usage of superconductor by adopting current commutation method by use of superconductor and high fast switch. Consequently, it was possible to get the satisfactory test results using this method, and further works for field tests are in the process.
