This article aimed to identify the significance of 'Limited Edition' in 'Art Furniture' field, which is rather well known in fine art like printing and sculpture. The consumer never responded to 'Art furniture' positively for its artistic quality and authenticity before than these days. For this, Author featured out current tendencies of 'Art Furniture' in terms of 'Limited Edition' can be easily found in well-known designer or artist's work, suggests designers should aim for their design. This desire, as a result, gave an opportunity to designers to produce new products in various different ways. And at the same time, suggest a new method in furniture design. Furthermore, 'Limited Edition' became a channel and opens a new environment for designers to explore and come up with new experimental designs.

Furniture should change according to space. Therefore, it is important that the flexibility of the furniture, the functional efficiency, the economical efficiency and the convenience of the furniture of today. These characteristics are also important for seminar tables that are used temporarily by a large number of people. The seminar furniture currently in use has no shielding plate, there are two forms of table and shielding plate folding table. Therefore, in this research, furniture design and product development that can complement the shortcomings of the seminar furniture currently in use were done. Analysis of problems through overseas investigation and domestic market research, design planning and design, and prototyping. We have sought to optimize the volume by applying the characteristics of RTA furniture to develop a lightweight, lightweight, lightweight, easy to install and easy to use shielding plate, and open and closed system. Basically developed two types of shielding board seminar table basic shape and Roll Screen type, we expanded the scope of application such as each color and pattern. In order to reduce the weight, we replaced the parts such as anchor bolts and hinges and the shielding plate with Roll Screen and pursued volume optimization. As a result of this research, it is expected that the system of mechanisms such as packaging standardization and damage prevention for weight reduction and volume optimization will contribute to building competitiveness by domestic office prefabricated furniture industry's original technology.

This study explored interpretation of the symbolical and metaphorical aesthetics in experiencing art/craft/handmade/studio furniture theoretically for 'wood culture experience class' or 'wood love experience class' by the Korea Forest Service because the class tends to focus on making simple wood works involved just in the practical part. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to achieve the theoretical context in the experience programs. After the lesson one on defining the postmodern aesthetics in New Design furniture as metaphor in the previous paper, I developed lesson two for an aesthetics of art and everyday life with wood furniture which expresses the metaphorical and symbolical aesthetics appeared as New Design furniture in postmodernism. As statement of objective in the second lesson, I explored that students in elementary schools personally transform and interpret the postmodern aesthetics of New Design furniture metaphorically with the meanings of symbol. As a result, the students will be able to write about the aesthetics of New Design furniture as metaphor in interpretation transformed by his/her perspective of a piece of selected New Design furniture.

This study was jointly conducted by the department of nursing science in a college of natural sciences and the furniture design department in the art and physical education to research the critical factors for the furniture development for the Elderly in consideration of the surging number of senior citizens not only in Korea but also globally. On the basis of the Elderly's physical and mental characteristics investigated by the department of nursing science, the furniture design guideline for the Elderly was presented. The following points should be considered at designing the furniture for the Elderly. First, multiple functions like chair with removable toilet bowl and part lighting in bed are advantageous. Second, the dimension of furniture such as chair, bed and sofa should be ergonomically thought in terms of structure for the Elderly's convenience. Third, the bright and vivid color of furniture should be chosen from the aspect of the design, while the different kinds of blue should be avoided. Small patterns and high glossy are not recommendable, but various kinds of feelings in different shapes are suggested. Forth, the material should contribute to the fracture prevention and for that sponge, fabric and leather smoothing the surface of furniture are recommendable as the finishing treatment in a wide variety of colors.

This is a study and work of furniture design adopted from a natural phenomenon, especially from the changing shapes of the moon. The drawer of furniture, a part frequently contacted with our hand (human body) is well related to the symbolism of the moon, which includes life conception and fertility. I created various forms of drawer handle shaped from the moon phases, which give a furniture design esthetical, symbolic and formative meanings. The characteristics of my drawer furniture designs are classified into 3 types. First, as the volumes of drawers increase, the handle shapes also change differently: old moon, crescent, half moon and full moon. Second, without keeping time order, drawers may have the same sizes with handles freely selected and arranged by formative accounts. Third, both increasingly changing type and freely selected and arranged type are combined to make a composite structure. In their simple geometric forms, these furnitures can provide nature intimacy, which fulfill the needs of our time.

The efficiency of internet lectures has been proved in many areas, and its significance and role theory has been consistently mentioned in the fields of furniture design education that demand a large amount of educational contents and practice in visual education. However, it reveals weaknesses without satisfying the demand owing to various realistic issues. In this study, the significance and developmental process of internet lecture as well as its effect after the development in terms of the education on furniture design were analyzed by counting some development cases of internet educational program in relation with AutoCAD educational course, a computer design program for furniture design. Also through such analysis, it intended to promote the development of design education by assessing the merits and problems, assignments to be supplemented, and utilization of the educational course development.

Since 1990s the concern on essence and inside has transferred onto the surface and its style. The longing for plastic surgery and skin beauty might prove this fervent tendency. Furthermore the development of digital media and technology as well as high-tech material enabled this hope to be real in the realm of design. All these progresses and transitions toward the surface introduced more creative and novel phenomena of furniture design arena around its surface. The rising of surface has evolved through architecture, interior design and furniture. The surface of furniture can be easily transposed into the human skin. And it acquires the aspects of skin's metaphoric and symbolic meaning. The characteristics of skin effect in furniture design can be summarized as material aspects, relational aspects, and formal aspects. Material aspects shows skin's elasticity and smooth plane. Relational aspects express the reactive functions of skin. Formal aspects represent organic power through surface.

This study is carried out to introduce the concept of Kagome structure as the new trial for the furniture design and the feasibility of its utilization in furniture industry. Kagome means originally the two dimensional bamboo-basket woven pattern that is composed of interlaced triangles whose lattice points each have four neighboring points, which was used in traditional bamboo craft design like 'Jukbuin(bamboo-wife)'. Its unique truss structure has been widely used by many kinds of the domain of science and engineering in mechanical and architectural industry with some merits, i,e, material utilization efficiency and robust strength. Here we tried to introduce two dimensional and three dimensional form of Kagome which are supposed to be a furniture design elements. Authors think these Kagome design could be realized with domestic lumber of inferior properties. Both of them would be used as a decorative element or mechanical supporter in furniture design.

This research is to provide basic information for future development of an effective way for design office furniture. The purpose of this study is to provide foundation data that enable to design various office furniture. This article investigates what are the basic elements of office furniture and how various type of office furniture elements represent in many catalogues, articles. It was to understand what parts of office furniture elements influence when design the office furniture. Based on the research, conclusion was made as following: Through the 11 brands, it is found that rectangular-closed desk and tall closest is dominant in domestic brand whereas both open and closed desks are used in overseas brand and the closet design is changed based on the desk type.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the preference of street furniture and to suggest street furniture design guideline in Kwang-Ju city Subjects consisted of 197 residents in Kwang-Ju city, Kyung-ki area. The data were analyzed using the SPSS statistical package. The results of descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test and ANOVA are presented. The result of this study showed that residents of Kwang-Ju city were not satisfied with street furniture, especially the wastebasket. Natural, easy and simple design for street furniture were highly appraised. And there were distinct differences in preferences of street furniture by sex and age groups. Women group wanted warmer and richer design than the other groups. Older age group wanted more curved and active design than the other groups. Considering these results, it is desirable to apply flexible and unique design according to the various characteristics of users and the region rather than to apply strict and standardized design. These results provide a practical guideline for the development of the street furniture design.
