The change of social consciousness and culture induce increasing needs of funeral ceremony hall. This study analysed the equipments standards of funeral ceremony hall, and the procedure of each ritual formalities, then surveyed nine cases. As a result, the forms of mortuary are identical despite the needs of plans by religions and rites. This study recognized the needs of mortuary plans by religions, and purposed to plan each religion's mortuary based on funeral ceremony hall after this.

The purpose of this study is furnishing applicable data, in deviation from the conventional study of architectural planning, for funeral ceremony hall actually built as a various form. For that, this study performed analysis of condolent space, through dividing space into three phase which is planning unit, organizing unit and making layout as a general method of architectural planning steps. The results are as follows. Establishing spaces for bereaved family's rest in funeral space is also applicable, through the renovation, in case of A type u nit that is more than 25$m^2$. If wish to organize funeral space unit by monolithic space type at planning, than should be controle d size of unit so as not to excessive and if wish to organize by connection style and 1:1 separation style, than area of room where coffin is placed should be considered not overly lacking than condoler's waiting space. On arranging of middle corridor type should be controled scale of funeral space so that is not lacking than room where coffin is placed. In case of hall type, there are necessity to make area of condoler's waiting space do not excess than area of room where coffin is placed.

Korean funeral customs are an important part of the mourning process in Korea. A survey was conducted in the southern part by the Nak-dong river, centered around the city of Busan to examine Korean funeral rites. This study was conducted with survey research. The target population included 234 teachers and experienced the death of a family member within the last three years. Results showed that they presented their condolences 5 to 6 times on average per year. Funeral rites were performed usually at a hospital funeral hall. The preference of burial to cremation was about the same. According to the survey, funeral expenses averaged 9,570,000 won and donations received for funeral expenses, 12,630,000 won. Problems the respondents expressed about the process included large funeral expenses, the decision whether to bury or cremate, and fatigue from staying up all night. When classified according to the demographic characteristics, there were significant differences in the variables. Frequency of attending funerals depended on gender, age, and health status. Condolence style depended on religion. The type of funeral (burial or cremation) depended on family income. The type of reception depended on gender. The purpose of this study aimed to analyze factors on motives to tree burial and choice conditions to tree burial site in order to suggest policy direction for the desirable settlement of tree burial. For those purpose, this study performed questionnaire, targeting 522 visitors of funeral hall all around Korea. As the result, the factors of motives to tree burial were extracted as follows: funeral ceremony progressed along with trees, simplicity, memorial site's easy insurance, environmental friendliness and consideration toward descendants. The factors on choice conditions to tree burial sites were extracted as follows: beauty of natural scenery, emotional mood as a memorial site, convenience, stability and economic feasibility. Based on the results of factor analysis, this study suggested policies related to motives to tree burial as follows: develop various types of tree burial sites, develop a funeral ceremony suitable for tree burial, come into wide use of tree burial as a social welfare service, develop tree burial methods capable of many burials, and improve professionalism to manage tree burial system. In addition, this study proposed related choice conditions to tree burial sites as follows: establish natural forest scenery, convert existing graveyards into tree burial sites, select easily accessible places for tree burial sites, form tree burial sites as places for both rest and memory, and reduce using fee of tree burial site.
