Policy Direction in Responses to Demand for Apartment Remodeling (공동주택 리모델링 수요에 대응한 정책 추진방안)

  • This study aims to seek a proper policy direction in response to the demand for apartment remodeling. As the research methods, we diagnosed the current status of the remodeling policy and analyzed the demand for apartment remodeling nationwide. According to the result of analysis, we suggested the fundamental direction and tasks for remodeling policies to be pursued at the government level. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, the result of analysis showed that the demand for environmental improvement(performance improvement) remodeling project was much higher than other types of remodeling projects. The percentage of unit increased-type remodeling that can secure business feasibility is about 10% and only 30% when it comes to reducing project costs. The remaining 70-90% need to be promoted in environmental improvement remodeling projects which dependent on the residents' payment. Second, in order to prepare a policy action plan in response to the demand for apartment remodeling, it is necessary to set up clear policy goals and strategies for apartment remodeling in advance at the national level. Along with proactive goals and strategies, graded policy support should be accompanied per type of remodeling and business demand. We also suggest to simplify administrative procedures and support the R&D research to develop technologies. It would help to utilize the unit increased-type remodeling. On the other hand, for utilizing the environmental improvement remodeling which takes up a relatively high proportion, the policy should take care of as follows: offering housing performance information, rationalizing long term repair reserve, fostering small companies and experts. Finally, apartment management system should be advanced from the perspectives of managing old apartments and institutional foundations such as new construction and customized regulations for differentiated remodeling should be accompanied.

Prototyping-based Design Process Integrated with Digital-Twin: A Fundamental Study (디지털 트윈 개념을 적용한 프로토타이핑 기반 디자인 프로세스: 기초연구)

  • In the general manufacturing sector, prototyping used to reduce the risks that can arise with new conceptual products. However, in AEC area, it does not mass-produce a building, so the prototype itself becomes a building. Therefore, it is challenging to have prototyping of the same scale as the real thing, and the prototyping process in architecture is very inefficient. The prototyping process in the design stage typically assumes making a scaled model, partial model, or digital model. However, it is difficult for these models to correspond to the actual building and the environment of time and space such as scale, material, environment, load, physical properties and deformation, corrosion, etc., unlike the actual building. When using the digital twin concept in the prototyping process, it is possible to measure performance from the design stage to the operation stage. The digital twin was found by a method for monitoring based on physical twins and real-time linkage in the operation stage. Therefore, if the digital twin concept is applied at the design stage, it is possible to predict performance using not only current performance but also history information using real-time information. In order to apply the digital twin concept to the prototyping design process, we analyze the theoretical considerations and the prototyping design process of the digital twin, analyze the cases and research results where the prototyping design was applied, Provide an applied prototyping design process. The proposed process is tested through a pilot project and analyzed for potential use.

Evaluation of EC8 and TBEC design response spectra applied at a region in Turkey

  • Seismic performance analysis is one of the fundamental steps in the design of new or retrofitting buildings. In the seismic performance analysis, the adapted spectral acceleration curve for a given site mainly governs the seismic behavior of buildings. Since every soil site (class) has a different impact on the spectral accelerations of input motions, different spectral acceleration curves have to be involved for every soil class that the building is located on top of. Modern seismic design codes (e.g., Eurocode 8, EC8, or Turkish Building Earthquake Code, TBEC) provide design response spectra for all the soil classes to be used in the building design or retrofitting. This research aims to evaluate the EC8 and TBEC based design response spectra using the spectra of real earthquake input motions that occurred (and were recorded at only soil classes A, B and C, no recording is available at soil class D) in a specific area in Turkey. It also conducts response spectrum analyses of 5, 10 and 13 floor reinforced concrete building models under EC8, TBEC and actual spectral response curves. The results indicate that the EC8 and especially TBEC given design response spectra cannot be able to represent the mean actual spectral acceleration curves at soil classes A, B and C. This is particularly observed at periods higher than 0.3 s, 0.42 s and 0.55 s for the TBEC design response spectra, 0.54 s, 0.65 s and 0.84 s for the EC8 design response spectra at soil classes A, B and C, respectively. This is also reflected to the shear forces of three building models, as actual spectral acceleration curves lead to the highest shear forces, followed by the shear forces obtained from EC8 and, then, the TBEC design response spectra.

Design of Test Site for Large-Scale Wind Turbine Performance Verification (초대형 풍력터빈 시험을 위한 실증시험장 설계)

  • This paper designs a wind turbine test site based on international regulations for the certification of wind turbine prototypes. The maximum height of the meteorological mast installed at the test site is 140m, and power facilities capable of testing up to three wind turbines of 5MW or more are installed. The weather resources measured at the mast can be recorded and analyzed using a monitoring system. Wind turbine manufacturers can use this test site during the certification period, and the installed wind turbines can be used for continuous power generation projects. Therefore, this test site can provide fundamental data for measuring the long-term performance and durability of wind turbines, which can be used to improve models or develop new wind turbines.

  • This article analyzes the obtained data on consciousness survey of disabled and non-disabled pedestrians, and proposes fundamental data for public strategy in order to enhance facilities in subway stations in advance. This paper conduct literature review, new listing survey related to 'The Code for Improvement of Convenience for Moving Vulnerable Pedestrians', and Modified-Importance-Performance Analysis (M-IPA). The results show that disabled pedestrians want enhancement in information facilities as a whole. In addition, the results show that several improvements needs to be applied to accessible sidewalk, to informative notification, to alarm and evacuation system and to toilet for disabled pedestrians. This indicates that disabled pedestrians heavily concentrate on accessibility to subway station and provided information compared with disabled pedestrians.

Selecting Stock by Value Investing based on Machine Learning: Focusing on Intrinsic Value (머신러닝 기반 가치투자를 통한 주식 종목 선정 연구: 내재가치를 중심으로)

  • Purpose This study builds a prediction model to find stocks that can reach intrinsic value among KOSPI and KOSDAQ-listed companies to improve the stability and profitability of the stock investment. And investment simulations are conducted to verify whether stock investment performance is improved by comparing the prediction model, random stock selection, and the market indexes. Design/methodology/approach Value investment theory and machine learning techniques are applied to build the model. Various experiments find conditions such as the algorithm with the best predictive performance, learning period, and intrinsic value-reaching period. This study selects stocks through the prediction model learned with inventive variables, does not limit the holding period after buying to reach the intrinsic value of the stocks, and targets all KOSPI and KOSDAQ companies. The stock and financial data are collected for 21 years (2001-2021). Findings As a result of the experiment, using the random forest technique, the prediction model's performance was the best with one year of learning period and within one year of the intrinsic value reaching period. As a result of the investment simulation, the cumulative return of the prediction model was up to 1.68 times higher than the random stock selection and 17 times higher than the KOSPI index. The usefulness of the prediction model was confirmed in that the number of intrinsic values reaching the predicted stock was up to 70% higher than the random selection.

  • This paper investigates the fundamental properties and shrinkage characteristics of low shrinkage high performance concrete(LSHPC), using mock-up specimens. According to the test results, the most suitable mix proportions of LSHPC need a higher dosage of SP agent and AE agent, in order to obtain the target of slump flow and air content. This is due to reduce fluidity and air content respectively. It also presented earlier setting time than control concrete by 6 hours and exhibited compressive strength of 60MPa at age 28 days. Autogenous shrinkage of LSHPC was the half of the value of control concrete. Drying shrinkage of center section of LSHPC showed similar tendency with autogenous shrinkage, because of no internal moisture movement, while surface section had larger drying shrinkage. The specimen with embedded reinforcing bar had smaller deformation owing to confinement of reinforcing bar.

  • As buildings are built higher and their service life made longer, face brick walls are also required to be constructed in an easy and systematic manner, and to ensure their satisfying structural performance, inspectingly, against lateral load. Therefore this study aims to investigate the structural performance of face brick walls constructed by a new method using screwed stainless steel connectors and provide fundamental experiment data for field application of this method. The results of this study indicated that the face brick wall tied with screw connectors had better shear capacity against rocking motion than that of the wall constructed with ordinary tie bars when their tie spacing was the same. Based on the good performance of the wall tied with the screw connector, it is also expected that the spiral anchors developed in this study can possibly applied to high-rise by adjusting the spacing of the anchors considering the difference of dimensions.

Estimation of R-factor and Seismic Performance for RC IMRFs using N2 Method (N2 Method를 이용한 RC 중간모멘트 연성골조의 반응수정계수 및 내진성능 평가)

  • Response Modification Factor(R-factor) approach is currently implemented to reflect inelastic ductile behavior of the structures and to reduce elastic spectral demands from earthquakes to the design level. However R factors were set empirically and simply based on the professional committee consensus on observed performance of building structures during past earthquakes. Consequently some major shortcomings linked to the current R factor approach have been pointed out. Using reinforced concrete intermediate moment-resisting frames(RC IMRFs), an analytical procedure is presented in this paper to establish R factor rationally. To this end, analytical R values were evaluated based on N2 Method and compared with the values recommended by IBC 2000. Overall, the analytical results correlated well with the code values. However the results also revealed that R factor might strongly depend on the system fundamental period. As evidenced by the interstory drift index(IDI) analysis results of this study, current R-factor based(or, Life Safety based) design tends to fail in fulfilling other implicit and hopeful performance objectives such as immediate Occupancy and Collapse Prevention. Performance based design(PBD) appears to be a promising approach to meet the multi level seismic performance objectives assigned to the building structures of nowadays.

Development of Methodology for Evaluation Performance Model of Information Systems (정보시스템 성과 평가 모형 방법론 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In the information systems literature from Korea, there has not been much research on formative constructs. It is crucial to establish a proper relationship between constructs and indicators. In other words, it is fundamental to specify reflective or formative constructs in evaluating performance as closely as possible to reality, and in testing the appropriateness of a proper causal model. One purpose of this study is that, through a comprehensive literature review, reflective and formative indicators are accurately understood, and a proper specification and development methodology is applied to the information system evaluation field. In addition, this study provides a useful guideline for developing formative indicators for performance evaluation of informatization programs. The following activities were undertaken to achieve the aforementioned purposes. First, the basic theories and preceding study models on successful factors of informatization programs and performance evaluations were reviewed, and a comprehensive interdisciplinary literature review was conducted to better understand the formative constructs. Lastly, we provide a construct for performance evaluation of informatization programs and evaluation indicators, as well as guidelines for specifying them. Therefore, by systematically specifying proper constructs, future domestic researchers can develop better constructs for performance evaluation of informatization programs.
