Extracting Predominant Melody from Polyphonic Music using Harmonic Structure (하모닉 구조를 이용한 다성 음악의 주요 멜로디 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose a method for extracting predominant melody of polyphonic music based on harmonic structure. Since polyphonic music contains multiple sound sources, the process of melody detection consists of extraction of multiple fundamental frequencies and determination of predominant melody using those fundamental frequencies. Harmonic structure is an important feature parameter of monophonic signal that has spectral peaks at the integer multiples of its fundamental frequency. We extract all fundamental frequency candidates contained in the polyphonic signal by verifying the required condition of harmonic structure. Then, we combine those harmonic peaks corresponding to each extracted fundamental frequency and assign a rank to each after calculating its harmonic average energy. We finally run pitch tracking based on the rank of extracted fundamental frequency and continuity of fundamental frequency, and determine the predominant melody. We measure the performance of proposed method using ADC 2004 DB and 100 Korean pop songs in terms of MIREX 2005 evaluation metrics, and pitch accuracy of 90.42% is obtained.

  • This study is aimed at the development of ubiquitous based road disaster management system. The fundamental technologies used for developing this system are classified into three modules - wireless internet communication module, mobile module and server module. These fundamental technologies can be used not only for developing road disaster management system but also for developing various mobile or ubiquitous systems. With this system, workers can download many DB (Digital map, Attribute information etc.) from server to the field in realtime. The accuracy and objectivity of the DB could be improved with these informations collected at fields because these data can be used as basic data for road disaster information collection. Because in the web based server module - Web based Road Disaster Management System (URDMS) - field disaster information was showed link up with exist DB on road by absolute coordinate, the decision making with all of the field information was made and it sent to a field staff in realtime. The problems of current road disaster management rule ran be solved by this URDMS.

  • City Train Technology that is large and complex system and consists of mechanical, electronic, electric, materials, computer, communication, civil/track etc. is very important area of railway industry, national fundamental industry. The standardization of city train system as a public transportation method and foundation of national economy is very important in order to do effective operation and to get fundamental technology, and the information system of the standards is required to operate the city train system effectively. By building data base of city train system design knowledge using computer-aided system engineering tool-Cradle, the system development issues and the design solutions are used by all engaged persons, and are managed by modeling and documentation. And this system will support architecture design consistently and effectively by applying this system to formalize early development process, to system requirements and configuration management, to system interface analysis and management and to system behavior analysis etc.. This study is for construction of data base of system design knowledge through making data base of many kinds of standards using CASE tool based on System Engineering Process, and introduces a model to support concurrent engineering for all engineers involved in system development allowing access to standard DB through Web from anywhere and at anytime.

A Study on Customer Segmentation and Applications of e-mail System - Based on e-CRM - (e-CRM 관점에서 본 이메일 시스템의 고객분석 및 활용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to classify customers by e-mail responsiveness on time-series analysis and testify the effectiveness of grouping by ROI analysis. Response recency, response frequency and Activity(RFA) of e-mailing systems are adapted for Customer segmentations. ROI analysis are consisted of open, click-through, duration time, personalization, conversion rate and email loyalty index of email systems. Major findings are as follows: RFA analysis is used for customer segmentations that is fundamental process of e-CRM applications. Customers can be grouped into loyal customers, odds customers, dormant customers, secession customers, and observation customers by RFA grouping. Loyal customer group has high point in all ROI index compared to other groups. These results indicated that customer responsiveness of e-mail systems were appropriate methods to group the customer with demographic variables. Therefore, effective e-mail marketing strategy of e-Biz should have suitable active DB and Behavior targeting is best approach to enforce the target e-mail marketing.

  • ASN.1 is the most fundamental technology in network management. The develoment of ASN.1 environment requires three steps : compiler work to parse ASN.1 languages, updating database with the parsing results, and pretty-printing work for data in the database. This paper presents the design and implementation of the translator which automatically translates the specification of ASN.1 to the object-oriented language C++. This system provides a total environment including for various graphic user interface, DB interface, browser to develop ASN.1 for development environment of ASN.1 For the implementation, Objectivity DB is used for database, flex and yacc for compiling, and Tcl/Tk for user interface.

  • Effective communication flow is a fundamental for the success of any construction projects. The key role of communications among project parties is even more critical in the case of Design-Build (DB) projects. Previous research has shown that these projects have an environment where integration between different project team members and schedule constraints increase channels of communication, and require faster communication flows. This paper summarizes the findings from research analyzing organizational structures and communication flow of the Texas State Highway 130 (SH130) project. Awarded in 2002, the SH130 project, totaling $1.3 billion USD, constitutes the "pilot" application for the DB approach in the state of Texas. A set of observations pertaining to team organization and communication issues in the design-build environment is included.

  • This paper provides an analysis using statistical method on the basis of database (DB) of bridge inspection reports performed by KISTEC from 1995 to 2007. Measured impact factors of total 36 railway bridges were classified by the span length, type of bridges and natural frequency. The fundamental frequency and the impact factors of inspected bridge are compared with formulas specified in both domestic and foreign railway bridge design codes.
