Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the quality of life (QOL) of adolescents who have inflammatory bowel disease. Methods: This was a descriptive comparative study, and participants were 58 adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease and 55 healthy adolescents. The Korean version of $PedsQL^{TM}$ 4.0 scale was used. Ten adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease were also interviewed. Data were analyzed with SPSS Win. Results: Average score on QOL for these adolescents was statistically lower (p<.001) than healthy adolescents, especially for physical and school functioning. QOL of the adolescents who had the disease for more than 4 years, and were taking 3 or more medications was lower QOL than other adolescents with this disease. In interviews, adolescents complained of physical malfunctioning. In emotional functioning, they worried about the reoccurrence of bloody diarrhea, and mood changes. As for social functioning, dietary restrictions, gastrointestinal symptoms, and poor peer relationships were primary concerns. Lastly, in school functioning, frequent absences and lower academic performance were problems. Conclusion: Considering these results, adolescents with inflammatory bowel disease felt anxious because of the uncertain origin of their disease and unpredictable course of the illness. Interventions should include diaries on food, along with education and counseling as nursing interventions.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to develop the Korean version of the Social Functioning Scale (KSFS) in the patients with schizophrenia. Methods : KSFS was administered to 90 schizophrenic patients and 80 their parents and 90 normal controls for examining the reliability and validity. Results : Data analysis showed statistically significant reliabilities and validities of KSFS. The test-retest reliability, rater vs. self-report reliability, and internal consistency for total scores of KSFS were 0.93, 0.44 and 0.94 respectively. Evidence for discriminant validity of KSFS comes from the results that the mean scores of schizophrenic patients were significantly higher than those of normal controls. Construct validity was assessed by calculating the 7 inter-areas correlations of the KSFS, and all areas were statistically significant. Significant correlations between the total scores of KSFS and those of SOFAS lend support for the concurrent validity of this instrument. Factor analyses were performed and two factors were extracted accounting for 63.7% of the variance. Sensitivity was assessed indirectly via the distribution and range of scores on the SFS. The normal control group showed a distribution around a higher mean with a moderate positive skew. Conclusion : KSFS was found to be a valid, reliable, and sensitive instrument which can be used to evaluate the degree of social functioning in the patients with schizophrenia.
The purpose of this study was to understand deeply the experience and the meaning of mother's parenting experience on borderline intellectual functioning adolescents. Objectives: Restricted and repetitive behaviors (RRBs) are a core symptom in the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The complexity of behavioral patterns has called for the creation of phenotypically homogeneous subgroups among individuals with ASD. The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate the different types of RRBs and 2) to explore whether subgroups created by RRBs would show unique levels of functioning in toddlers and young children with ASD. Methods: A total of 313 children with ASD, aged 12-42 months were included in the analysis. The Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised was used to obtain information on the different types of RRBs by grouping 15 items into six categories. The Vineland Adaptive Behaviors Scale, a parent-reported questionnaire, was used to measure adaptive functioning. A portion of the children were analyzed separately for verbal-related RRBs based on their expressive language level. Two-step cluster analysis using RRB groups as features was used to create subgroups. Analysis of covariance while covarying for age and language was performed to explore the clinical characteristics of each cluster group. Results: Sensory-related RRBs were the most prevalent, followed by circumscribed interests, interest in objects, resistance to change, and repetitive body movements. A subset of the children was analyzed separately to explore verbal-related RRBs. Four cluster groups were created based on reported RRBs, with multiple RRBs demonstrating significant delays in adaptive functioning. Conclusion: Heterogeneity of RRBs emerges at a young age. The different patterns of RRBs can be used as valuable information to determine developmental trajectories with better implications for treatment approaches.

Nowadays more and more attention is paid to digital technologies, digitization, and the digitization of public services in particular. Progressive countries aim to build "digital" governance and a digital economy. In this aspect, the international experience of using digitization in the field of public administration, including in local self-government bodies, plays an important role. Therefore, it is important to analyze the international legal experience of the functioning of local self-government in the conditions of digitization. The purpose of the work is to study the international legal experience of the functioning of local self-government in the conditions of digitization. The object of the study is local self-government in the conditions of digitization through the prism of international legal experience. The subject of the study is social relations that arise, change, and cease during the implementation of digitization in local self-government in Ukraine and foreign countries. The research methodology consists of such methods as the method of philosophical hermeneutics; dialectical method; classification method; comparative method; target method; method of documentary analysis; generalization method. Research results. As a result of the conducted research, the international experience of the functioning of local self-government in conditions of digitization was analyzed. In particular, the impact of digitization processes on the course of the decentralization reform in Ukraine is summarized. Also, from the analysis of international experience, a conclusion was made about the potential possibility of reducing the existing gap in the process of communication between the central government and united territorial communities thanks to the introduction of the latest technologies in the field of administrative services, to stimulate innovative and economic development of regions, attracting the attention of businesses and potential investors, as well as the functioning of more open local authorities with electronic communication tools.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of exercise program on cardiopulmonary functions and shoulder joint functioning in breast cancer patients who under- went radiation therapy after surgery. Method: Subjects in the experimental group(N=12) participated in an exercise program for eight weeks. The Exercise program consisted of shoulder stretching, arm weight training, and walking on treadmill. Maximal oxygen uptake (v2max), maximal running time, shoulder joint range of motion, and shoulder functional assessment were determined before and after the exercise program. Baseline sociodemographic and medical data were compared between experimental group and control group using the Fisher's exact test and Mann- Whitney U test. For effects of the exercise program, repeated measures ANOVA were used. Result: 1) Following the exercise program for eight weeks, both v$\alpha$ max and maximal running time tended to increase in experimental group comparing with the control group. 2) Shoulder abduction, extension and flexion of the operated upper extremity in the experimental group comparing with control significantly increased after the exercise program(p<0.05). 3) Shoulder flexion of the normal upper extremity in the experimental group comparing with control significantly increased after the exercise program(p<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that the exercise program for breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy after breast surgery can improve shoulder functions and increase cardiopulmonary functions, which are maximal oxygen uptake and maximal running time.
The purpose of this study is to analyse the factors affecting rehabilitation of physically disabled persons . Data were collected from 118 physically disabled persons who were registered at facilities for disabled persons by an interview surevey Conducted from October 17 to October 26, 1988. The three facilities for the survey were selected by stratified random sampling. The results were as follows : 1. Using factor analysis, 10 variables were-grouped into 4 factors : physical need, need for social problem-solving, need for social interaction and educational need. The proportion of variance explained by these factors was $58.3\%$. 2. Age, religion and job were significantly related to the functional life scale score, but other variables were not. 3. Family APGAR score and severity of disability were significantly rotated to the functional life scale score. 4. From the multiple regression analysis on rehabilitation of the physically disabled person, the following: three variables were statistically significant : age, severity of disability and family functioning. These results suggest that age, severity of disability and family functioning variables are important factors for rehabilitation of physically disabled persons. Since the family functioning variable can be controlled by care, rehabilitation team should monitor the variable closely to improve the efficiency of rehabilitation. Because of their implication for further study, some variables, other than those considered here, are needed for studying rehabilitation of physically disabled persons.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to estimate shelf life of fuze MTSQ (Mechanical Time & Super Quick) KM577A1 from Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program (ASRP) data. Methods: For many years, ammunition test data had been gathered from ASRP. In this study, lot selection criteria and reliability score of functioning time for fuze are proposed. Reliability score of functioning time and failure data are used to estimate shelf life. Results: The results of this study are as follows; The failure modes of fuze MTSQ KM577A1 are dud, inverse function and mechanical time functioning failure (not operating in intended time). Dud and inverse function are major failure modes. Fuze MTSQ KM577A1's shelf life ($B_5$) is estimated 18.2 years conservatively. Conclusion: Degradation of chemical components in fuze MTSQ KM577A1 is major factor for its reliability. And shelf life ($B_5$) of fuze MTSQ KM577A1 is estimated 18.2 years conservatively.
The two main purposes of this study were to develop the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' and to examine its effects on enhancing family functioning and strengthening family relationships. The 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' consisted of six sessions, each of which included various types of activities and educational materials to evoke interests of the three-generation family members. Subjects of this study were 21 triples, consisting of mothers and their family members, each for the experimental group and the control group, respectively. Mean, Standard Deviation, MANCOVA, and Discriminant Analysis were carried out for the data analyses. Our results showed that the 'Three Generation Family-Madang Program' was effective in enhancing family adaptability and family relationships. Our program focused on the parent generation to have a better understanding and a more positive perspective toward other family members, which would enhance family functioning and family relationships. Our program also received positive feedback from the grandparent and grandchildren generation participants.
This study was to find out the effect of child-parent and child-peer attachment levels on the quality of the child's friendship. Participants were 355 fifth and sixth graders of three elementary schools in Jeolabukdo. The questionnaire used for this study were Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment(IPPA) and Quality of Friendship Scale. The t-test and the regression-analysis were used for this study. According to the result, when the father attachment was higher and safer, the child's friendship was functioning more positively. However, there wasn't any meaningful relationship between the security of mother attachment and the quality of the child's friendship. When peer attachment level was higher and safer, the quality of the child's friendship was significantly higher. On the other hand, there was meaningful relationship between the security of parent attachment and peer attachment. On relationships among parent attachment, peer attachment, and the quality of the child's friendship, effects of secure father attachment and secure peer attachment were functioning meaningfully on the quality of the child's friendship. Secure peer attachment was the most effective factor functioning positively on the quality of the child's friendship among those three factors, child-parent attachment, peer attachment, and the quality of the child's friendship.
