Background: This study was conducted to apply active release techniques to male youth basketball players to help improve physical development and damage prevention and improve performance through improved balance and functional movement. Design: Randomized control trial. Methods: The subjects included 33 youth basketball players who were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=17) and the control group (n=16). For the experimental group, the active release technique was applied to the hip muscles, calf muscles, posterior thigh muscles based on the distribution of injuries surveyed in youth basketball players in the Korean Basksetball League. The Y-balance test and the functional reach test (FRT) were used to assess balance and the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) was used to assess functional movement. Interventions were conducted twice a week for 4 weeks at 40 minutes per session. The experimental group was the active release technique group, and static stretching, a common exercise therapy technique, and self-myofascial release using a foam roller were applied for 20 minutes. The control group received general exercise therapy and placebo active release technique. The placebo active release technique applies pressure only. results:The experimental group showed a greater improvement in balance, as evidenced by the FRT, compared to the control group, which received general exercise treatment. However, there was no statistically significant difference in improvement between the 2 groups. In the case of the experimental group, the difference in the Y balance test before and after the intervention was larger than that of the control group, but there was no statistically significant difference. Significant improvement was found in functional movement, as evidence by the FMS, for the trunk stability test (p < 0.05), in-line lunge test (p < 0.05), rotational stability test (p < 0.05), total score (p < 0.05). Conclusion: In this study, the active release technique improved the balance and functional movement of young basketball players more than general exercise therapy. The application of the active release technique is therefore expected to assist in physical development, prevent damage, and improve the performance of youth basketball players.
The process of panel line in the shipyard produce the panel of outside planking which is located the side and bottom of a ship. The stiffeners or plates are welded onto the plates in this process. In this study, the panel line was performed to work process analysis and was analyzed into the IDEF0(Integration Definition) model that is functional modeling methodology. Also the panel line was analyzed to find out the risk factor and expected accident/safety guide from each process. And then this outputs were applied to the IDEF0 model. The mobile application which is designed by ooCBD(Object-oriented Component Based Development) method is able to use the output data of the process analysis in the panel line. This mobile application could be used by employees and safety managers without regard for working location and time.
Colloidal titania nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple sol-gel process. The obtained nanoparticles showed high crystallinity and were of the anatase type. These crystalline colloidal titania nanoparticles were organically modified using methyl- and glycidyl-grafted silanes in order to enhance their stability and solution processability. The stabilized colloidal titania nanoparticles could be dispersed homogeneously without aggregation and converted into silica-titania hybrid films with the heterogeneous Si-O-Ti bonds by a low-temperature solution process. The fabricated silica-titania hybrid films showed high transparency (~ 90%) in the visible range, and low RMS roughness (<1 nm). Therefore, the organosilane-modified crystalline colloidal titania nanoparticles can be used in solution-processable functional coatings for electro-optical devices.
Poly (ethylene 2, 6-naphthalate) (PEN) has been used for a high performance engineering plastics such as fiber, film, and packaging, because of excellent physical properties and outstanding gas barrier characteristics [1-2]. However, the application of PEN is limited because PEN exhibits a relatively high melt viscosity. Recently, many researches for organic/inorganic composites by applying nano-particles to the polymer matrix have been carried out [3], and the nano-particles exhibited greatly improved mechanical and rheological properties [4]. The IEC 61508 standard was established to specify the functional safety of E/E/PE safety-related systems. Safety life cycle to provide the framework and direction for the application of IEC 61508 is included in this standard. In this paper, we describe overviews, objects, scopes, requirements and activities of each phase in safety life cycle. In addition, we introduce safety integrity level(SIL) which is used for verifying the safety integrity requirements of E/E/PE system and perform a case study to estimate hardware SIL by FMEDA. The SIL is evaluated by two criteria. One of them is the architectural constraints which restrict the maximum SIL by combination of SFF and HFT. The other is the probability of failure which is classified into PFD and PFH based on frequency of demand and calculated by safe or dangerous failure rates.
This paper describes a technique, which analyzes the functional instability of the ankle using three-dimensional scanner. The technique is based on the structured light pattern projection method, which is performed by using one digital still camera and one LCD projector. This system can be easily realized with the low cost. The measuring result has high accuracy. The measuring error is about 0.2 mm or less. Using this technique the three-dimensional posture of the leg and foot of the target person are measured and analyzed.
In the past, bioinformatics was often regarded as a difficult and rather remote field, practiced only by computer scientists and not a practical tool available to biologists. However, the various on-going genome projects have had a serious impact on biological sciences in various ways and now there is little doubt that bioinformatics is an essential part of the research environment, with a wealth of biological information to analyze and predict. Fully sequenced genomes made us to have additional insights into the functional properties of the encoded proteins and made it possible to develop new tools and schemes for functional biology on a proteomic scale. Among those are the yeast two-hybrid system, mass spectrometry and microarray: the technology of choice to detect protein-protein interactions. These functional insights emerge as networks of interacting proteins, also known as "pathway informatics" or "interactomics". Without exception it is no longer possible to make advances in the signaling/regulatory pathway studies without integrating information technologies with experimental technologies. In this paper, we will introduce the databases of protein interaction worldwide and discuss several challenging issues regarding the actual implementation of databases.
For the propagation of elastic waves in unbounded domains, absorbing boundary conditions at the fictitious numerical boundaries have been proposed. Paraxial boundary conditions(PBCs) which are kinds of absorbing boundary conditions based on paraxial approximations of the scalar and elastic wave equations not only lead to well-posed problem but also are stable and computationally inexpensive. But the complex mathematical forms of PBCs with partial derivatives complicate the application of those to finite element analysis. In this paper a penalty functional is newly proposed for applying PBCs into finite element analysis and the existence and uniqueness of the extremum of the proposed functional is demonstrated. The numerical verification of the efficiency is carried out through comparing PBCs with a viscous boundary condition.

A lot of data, particularly in the medical field, contain variables that have a measurement error such as blood pressure and body mass index. On the other hand, recently smoothing methods are often used to solve a complex scientific problem. In this paper, we study a Bayesian curve-fitting under functional measurement error model. Especially, we extend our previous model by incorporating covariates free of measurement error. In this paper, we consider penalized splines for non-linear pattern. We employ a hierarchical Bayesian framework based on Markov Chain Monte Carlo methodology for fitting the model and estimating parameters. For application we use the data from the fifth wave (2012) of the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data, a national population-based data. To examine the convergence of MCMC sampling, potential scale reduction factors are used and we also confirm a model selection criteria to check the performance.
