  • High-quality one-dimensional GaN nanorods and nanowires were synthesized on Ni-coated c-plan sapphire substrate using halide vapor-phase epitaxy (HVPE). Their structure and optical properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence techniques. Full substrate coverage of densely packed, uniform, straight and aligned one-dimensional GaN nanowires with a diameter of 80nm were grown at $700{\sim}900^{\circ}C$. The X-ray diffraction patterns, transmission electron microscopic image, and selective area electron diffraction patterns indicate that the one-dimensional GaN nanostructures are a pure single crystalline and preferentially oriented in the [001] direction. We observed high optical quality of GaN nanowires by photoluminescence analysis.

  • A cause-effect graph considers only the desired external behavior of a system by identifying input-output parameter relationships in the specification. When testing a software system with cause-effect graphs, it is important to derive a moderate number of tests while avoiding loss in fault detection ability. Pairwise testing is known to be effective in determining errors while considering only a small portion of the input space. In this paper, we present a new testing technique that generates pairwise tests from a cause-effect graph. We use a Boolean Satisbiability (SAT) solver to generate pairwise tests from a cause-effect graph. The Alloy language is used for encoding the cause-effect graphs and its SAT solver is applied to generate the pairwise tests. Using a SAT solver allows us to effectively manage constraints over the input parameters and facilitates the generation of pairwise tests, even in the situations where other techniques fail to satisfy full pairwise coverage.

  • This paper refers and implements XML Web services, which supports networked interchanges of moving object information. XML Web services are expected to be fundamental building blocks in the move to distributed computing on the Internet. As an interchange format, GML encodes semantics, syntax, and schema of geospatial and geoprocessing-related information resources. It can give great benefits to utilize raw data easily as an XML encoding format does. This paper proposes a full coverage of interoperable location trajectory services consisting of 3 independent modules: a moving object database, a data processing server, and a web services interface module. For communications, SOAP protocols and WSDL documents are used, which can guarantee an interoperability of a system regardless of different platforms and service channels. This paper also designs a GML data format that represents location information of probe cars.

  • For mobile wireless systems with full frequency reuse, co-channel interference near the cell coverage boundaries has a significant impact on the signal reception performance. This paper addresses an approach to efficiently mitigate the effect of downlink co-channel interference when multi-antenna terminals are used in cellular environments, by proposing a signal detection strategy combined with a system-level coordination for dynamic frequency reuse. We demonstrate the utilization of multi-antennas to perform spatial demultiplexing of both the desired signal and interfering signals from adjacent cells results in significant improvement of spectral efficiency compared to the maximal ratio combining (MRC) performance, especially when an appropriate frequency reuse based on the traffic loading condition is coordinated among cells. Both analytic expressions for the capacity and experimental results using the adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) are used to confirm the performance gain. The robustness of the proposed scheme against varying operational conditions such as the channel estimation error and shadowing effects are also verified by simulation results.

  • A total of 202 full coverage crowns from 31 patients was investigated to find out the relationships between crown contour and gingival response. Every experimental crown has its contralateral natural tooth for its control group. Gingival Index and buccolingual width of the crowns were measured on both experimental and control group. Following conclusions were obtained from the study. 1. Most of the crown restorations were overcontoured and the increments were servere at cervical and height of contour area. 2. Height of contour and contact point of the restored crown were located near cervical area. Besides, most crowns had narrow embrasure with wide contact area. 3. Gingival Index around crown restorations was significantly larger than that of control group. 4. the interrelationship between Gingival Index and restored material or restored period was not verified at 5% significant level. 5. When grouping the artificial crowns into overcontoured, normal contoured, and undercontoured group by their width increment, the gingival inflammation was the severest in the overcontoured group and the mildest in the undercontoured group.

  • A CATHENA model for the reactor regulating system is developed and tested independently. A CATHENA plant model is created by combining this model with the reference CATHENA model which has been developed to analyze a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) for the Wolsong 2 generating station. This model is intended to provide a trip coverage analysis capability. The CATHENA reactor regulating system model includes the demand power routine. the light water zone control absorbers, mechanical control absorbers and adjusters. The CATHENA model is tested for steady state at 103% full power. A postulated accident transient (small LOCA) was also tested. The results show that the control routines in CATHENA were set up properly.

  • The efficient send and receive of information in VANET improves the efficiency of the safety and traffic services advertisment and discovery. However, if the V2V is the only communication system used, the restrictions of the urban environment and network drop the performance of VANET. In order to improve the performance of the network, it is necessary to use V2I communication as well as V2V communication. Therefore, RSUs must be placed in the environment. However due to the high costs of placement, the full coverage of the environment would not be possible. Therefore, it is necessary to optimally install a limited number of RSUs in the environment.

  • IGRINS (Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrometer) is a cross-dispersed high resolution near-infrared spectrograph whose primary disperser is a silicon immersion grating (SIG) and cross-dispersers are two volume phase holographic gratings (VPHG). IGRINS covers the full ranges of H and K astronomical wavelength bands at a single exposure with the spectral resolution of 40,000. The overall layout of the IGRINS Cryostat is a $960{\times}600{\times}380$ cubic millimeter rectangular box and the whole optical train is sitting on an $880{\times}520{\times}50\;mm^3$ rectangular Optical Bench. The total volume of the instrument has been revolutionarily reduced and remained compact for the spectral coverage and sensitivity of a high resolution spectrograph in infrared. We, in this presentation, introduce the design models, the structural and thermal analysis results of the mechanics and cryogenics of IGRINS.

  • We suggest a facile transmission electron microscopy (TEM) specimen preparation method for the direct (polymer-free) transfer of layer-area graphene from Cu substrates to a TEM grid. The standard (polymer-based) method and direct transfer method were by TEM, high-resolution TEM, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The folds and crystalline particles were formed in a graphene specimen by the standard method, while the graphene specimen by the direct method with a new etchant solution exhibited clean and full coverage of the graphene surface, which reduced several wet chemical steps and accompanying mechanical stresses and avoided formation of the oxide metal.

  • In tactical theater, it is crucial to detect ground moving targets and to locate them precisely. This problem can be resolved by using SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) sensors providing GMTI (Ground Moving Target Indication) capability. In general, to implement a robust GMTI sensor is not simple because of the strong competitions between target signals and clutter signals from the ground, and low speed of moving targets. Contrary to the case that a delay canceller is mostly suitable for ground surveillance radars, DPCA (Displaced Phase Centered Antenna) or STAP (Space Time Adaptive Processing) techniques have been widely adapted for GMTI function of modern airborne radars. In this paper, a new scheme of DPCA using two passive antennas with vertical separation is proposed, which also provides good clutter cancellation performance. The proposed scheme realizes full azimuth coverage for DPCA operation on an airborne platform, which is impossible with classical DPCA configuration. Simulations using various conditions have been performed to validate the proposed scheme, and the results are acceptable.
