Two-Bit Transform Algorithm using Adaptive Search Range (적응적 탐색 범위를 이용한 2비트 변환 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문은 2비트 변환 (two-bit transform : 2BT) 알고리즘의 탐색 범위를 적응적으로 조정하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 2BT는 정합 오차 기준으로 SAD (sum of absolute differences)를 사용하지 않고 Number of Non-Matching Points (NNMP)를 사용하여 속도를 향상시키고, 하드웨어 구현을 용이하게 했다. 그러나 움직임 예측 시 기존의 방법인 전역 탐색 (FS : Full Search) 알고리즘을 사용하여 방대한 연산량을 요구한다. 이 점을 개선하기 위해 이 논문에서는 2BT의 탐색 범위를 매 블록마다 적응적으로 조정하면서 알고리즘의 계산량을 줄이고 속도를 향상시키는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 기존의 2BT와 제안하는 알고리즘을 비교한 실험결과는 PSNR이 거의 동일하나 복잡도 측면에서 제안하는 알고리즘이 훨씬 우수한 성능을 보여준다.

  • 본 논문은 1 비트 변환(1-bit transform: 1BT) 알고리듬에 적응적 탐색 지점 조정을 추가적으로 적용한 알고리듬이다. 1BT는 정합 오차 기준을 Sum of Absolute(SAD)를 대신 하여 Number of Non-matching Point(NNMP)를 사용하여 속도를 향상시키고, 하드웨어 구현을 용이하게 했다. 하지만 정합 오차 기준만 바뀌었을 뿐, 전역 탐색(FS: Full Search)알고리듬을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 1BT방법에 적응적 탐색 지점 조정을 적용함으로써 추가적으로 속도 향상하는 알고리듬을 제안하였다. 실험 결과에서는 기존의 1BT와 제안하는 알고리듬을 비교하여 PSNR과 시간 측면에서의 뛰어난 성능을 보여준다.

  • This work proposes an optimality criteria applicable to the optimum design of plane frames. Stress constraints as well as displacement constraints are treated as behavioural constraints and thus the first order approximation of stress constraints is adopted. The design space of practical reinforced concrete frames with discrete design variables has been found to have many local minima, and thus it is desirable to find in advance the mathematical minimum, hopefully global, prior to starting to search a practical optimum design. By using the mathematical minimum as a trial design of any search algorithm, we may not full into a local minimum but apparently costly design. Therefore this work aims at establishing a mathematically rigorous method ⑴ by adopting first-order approximation of constraints, ⑵ by reducing the design space whenever minimum size restrictions become "active" and ⑶ by the of Newton-Raphson Method.

  • In this paper, an efficient SAD(Sum of Absolute Differences) processor structure for motion estimation of 0.264 is proposed. SAD processors are commonly used both in full search methods for motion estimation or in fast search methods for motion estimation. Proposed structure consists of SAD calculator block, combinator block, and minimum value calculator block. Especially, proposed structure is simplified by using Distributed Arithmetic for addition operation. The Verilog-HDL(Hard Description Language) coding and FPGA implementation results for the proposed structure show 39% and 32% gate count reduction comparison with those of the conventional structure, respectively. Due to its efficient processing scheme, the proposed SAD processor structure can be widely used in size dominant H.264 chip.

Full Search Equivalent Motion Estimation Algorithm for General-Purpose Multi-Core Architectures

  • Motion estimation is a key technique of modern video processing that significantly improves the coding efficiency significantly by exploiting the temporal redundancy between successive frames. Thread-level parallelism is a promising method to accelerate the motion estimation process for multithreading general-purpose processors. In this paper, we propose a parallel motion estimation algorithm which parallelizes the motion search process of the current H.264/AVC encoder. The proposed algorithm is implemented using the OpenMP application programming interface (API) and can be easily integrated into the current encoder. The experimental results show that the proposed parallel algorithm can reduce the processing time of the motion estimation up to 65.08% without any penalty in the rate-distortion (RD) performance.

  • 동영상을 효율적으로 압축하기 위한 움직임백터 예측에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 가장 일반적인 FBMA(Full search-based Block Matching Algorithm)는 화질은 좋지만 계량이 많기 때문에 실시간 인코딩을 요구하는 시스템에서 사용하는데 문제가 있다. 좋은 화질을 유지하면서 인코딩 속도를 해결하기 위한 많은 알고리즘들이 제안되어 왔지만 ASIC이나 소형 시스템에서 사용할 수 있는 방법이 계속 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 계산량을 더욱 줄여 속도향상을 위한 방법인 TSWS(Two-Step search With Subsampling method) 제안하였다. TSWS는 블록정합알고리즘에 기반을 두고 있으며, 서브샘플링한 값으로 움직임 벡터를 찾는다. TSWS를 사용하였을 때 기존 방법들이 제공하는 주관적 화질이나 PSNR을 어느 정도 유지하면서도 속도를 20-30% 정도 개선시킬 수 있다.

Motion Estimation using Genetic NTSS Method (Genetic NTSS 기법을 이용한 움직임 추정)

  • 기존의 블록 정합 알고리즘인 FS(Full Search) 알고리즘은 정확한 움직임 벡터를 구할 수 있으나 요구되는 계산량이 많다. 반면에 국부 탐색을 하는 고속 블록 정합 알고리즘은 FS보다 빠른 탐색을 할 수 있으나 FS 보다 정합 오차가 크다. 본 연구는 전역탐색을 하는 유전자 알고리즘에 빠른 탐색을 하는 블록 정합 알고리즘인 NTSS(New Three Ste Search)알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 방법에서 각 염색체는 움직임 벡터를 표현하며 초기 염색체는 탐색 공간의 중심 탐색점 가까이에 고정적으로 발생시키고 각 염색체는 MSE(Mean Square Error)값으로 평가된다. 평가된 염색체 중 작은 MSE값을 가지는 염색체가 NTSS의 탐색점 수만큼 다음 세대의 탐색점으로 선택된다. 선택된 염색체는 세대를 거치면서 돌연변이 연산과 교배연산이 행해지고 이 때 돌연변이 연산의 크기는 NTSS의 탐색 단계 크기가 된다. 제안한 세대 수 만큼 반복 후 최소의 MSE 값을 가지는 유전자가 해당 블록의 움직임 벡터가 된다. 시뮬레이션 결과 제안한 방법을 가장 우수한 성능을 가지는 FS와 유사한 MSE 값을 얻을 수 있었고 동시에 FS에서 요구되는 계산량에 비해 많은 계산량을 줄일 수 있었다.

  • As information technologies in construction field get developed, various studies and projects are in progress for improvement of construction industry. Meanwhile, web-basis online system for building materials is tending upward. However, most of the informations about classification system for building materials and specifications are not systematic yet. Most field staffs have some troubles in making full use of the material information, repeating inefficient works from constructional design to the maintenance of it. This study designed auto-categorization system classified by materials, multi-search engines, auto-converting/creating electronic catalog as well as RFID search support to provide standardized building materials information.

Strengthening of Advanced Beginner's Nursing Competence through Concept Mapping: Focus Groups (개념지도 교육방법을 이용한 진전된 초보자의 간호역량강화: 포커스그룹)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate the strengthening process of advanced beginner's nursing competence through the concept mapping methods. Methods: This study was conducted with focus group study for 1 month from November to December 2012 (n=5). Data were analyzed through open coding, axial coding and selection coding stage. Results: Advanced beginner to represent the experience of nursing empowerment and the three categories of the nine concepts were derived. The first category is 'able to see the entire search.' This concept is to start a search query, the search process of thinking, behavior change is expected. The second category is 'behavior change through the acquisition of knowledge.', and this concept is the embodiment of knowledge, confidence rising, and action changing. The third category is 'nursing empowerment', the aesthetic, ethical, and personal knowledge acquisition, as well as self-growth. Conclusion: Advanced beginner saw the full flow through the concept mapping and obtained knowledge, and changed behavior. Thus, the concept mapping is effective to strengthen the nursing competence.

A Study on the New BC-ABBM Motion Estimation Algorithm for Low Bit Rate Video Coding (저 전송률 비디오 압축을 위한 새로운 BC-ABBM 움직임 추정 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Fast search and conventional boolean matching motion estimation algorithms reduce computational complexity and data processing time but this algorithms have disadvantages that is difficult of implementation of hardware because of high control overhead and that is less performance than Full search Algorithm(FA). This paper present new all binary block matching algorithm, called Bit Converted All Binary Block Matching(BC-ABBM). Proposed algorithm have performance closed to the FA by boolean only block matching that may be very efficiently implemented in hardware for low bit rate video communication. Simulation results show that the PSNR of the proposed algorithm is about 0.04dB loss than FA but is about 0.6 ∼ 1.4dB gain than fast search algorithm and conventional boolean matching algorithm.
