Frictional Characteristics of the Lubricants Formulated with Non-Conventional Base Stocks

  • Use of high-quality basestocks is increasing to produce high-performance lubricants. However, their tribological characteristics have not been understood clearly yet. In this study, a newly developed basestock from a fuel hydrocracker and a poly-alpha-olefin are selected and investigated on the properties of lubricants formulated with them. The Lubricants are prepared by blending the basestocks with typical additives such as a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate, a dispersant, a detergent and a dispersant-inhibitor package. Frictional and wear-preventing properties are investigated using an oscillating-type wear-testing machine. The contact is a ball-on-disk mode and the testing temperature is varied from room temperature to 200$^{\circ}$C. The results show that their frictional property is varied significantly and that the non-conventional oils result in lower friction and lower wear compared with conventional lubricants, especially at the higher temperatures.

  • 고분자 전해질막으로 사용할 수 있는 소수성/친수성 랜덤 멀티블럭 공중합체를 합성하였다. 공중합체는 수산화기를 각 말단에 가지고 있는 소수성 올리고머, 친수성 올리고머 및 반응성이 좋은 커플링 단량체로 친핵성 치환 반응을 활용하여 합성 하였다. 높은 반응성의 커플링 단량체의 존재로 비교적 낮은 온도에서 합성이 됨으로서 고온에서의 에테르-에테르 교환반응에 의한 랜덤화를 억제할 수 있었으며, 높은 중합도의 공중합체를 합성 할 수 있었다. 각 수산화기로 같은 말단으로 조정된 올리고머는 투입 비율의 조정으로 쉽게 이온교환용량을 조정할 수 있었다. 솔루션 캐스팅 방법으로 강도를 가지고 잘 휘어지며 투명한 전해질막을 제조할 수 있었다. 전해질막은 이온전도도, 물흡수율, 부피 변화율, 연료 투과성 등의 측정이 되었다.

  • In this study, we fabricated tubular ceramic support for segmented-in-series solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) by using MAO(MgAl-stabilized ) as main material and activated carbon as pore former. Thermal expansion properties of ceramic support with different amounts of activated carbon were analyzed by using dilatometer to decide a suitable sintering temperature. The tubular ceramic supports with different amounts of activated carbon (15, 20, 30wt.%) were fabricated by the extrusion technique. After sintering at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 2h, cross section and surface morphology of tubular ceramic support were analyzed by using SEM image. Also, the porosity, mechanical property, gas permeability of tubular ceramic supports was measured. Based on these results, we established the suitable fabrication technique of tubular ceramic support for segmented-in-series SOFC.

Capstan용 용사코팅의 내마모 특성 향상 방안 (A Methodological Study of the Wear-Resistant Property Improvement on the Thermal Spray Coating for Capstan)

  • Thermal spray coating process has proven to be effective at producing hard, dense, wear resistance coatings on the relatively mild substrates. Among several spraying techniques, HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) and plasma coating processes, which are preferentially used for the wear resistance application such as capstans, have been applied in this study. The effects of pre-treatment, it-process and post-treatment parameters on the wear and mechanical properties of WC+12%Co, Cr3C2 and Al2O3 powder coatings have been investigated and correlated with the microstructures. The results indicated that the carbide coating was more preferable to the oxide coatings and the post-treatments consisting of vacuum annealing and sealing on carbide coatings led to significant improvements in wear resistance, adhesive strength and coating phase stabilization over the other processing techniques in this application.

자동차 엔진용 소결 밸브시트의 미세조직과 기계적 성질에 미치는 고체윤활제의 영향 (Effects of Solid Lubricants on Microsteucture and Mechanical Proerties of Sintered Valve Seats for Automobile Engine)

  • Engine valve seat is a functionally important part for maintaining engine performance. The progress of automotive technology has increased the severity of conditions to which it is exposed, especially as regards LPG fuel engines and turbocharger. Therefore, it requires excellent heat and wear resistance to meet the severe condition inside the engine. In the present study, effects of solid lubricants such as CaF$_2$, MnS and MoS$_2$ on microstructure and mechanical properties of sintered Fe alloys for valve srats have been investigated for the development of valve seat material with high temerature wear resistance. As a results of engine simulation test, 0.5 wt% CaF$_2$ specimen showed the most excellent property, but in the overall aspect of view valve recession has increased with increasing the amount of solid lubricants.

THE EFFECT OF MICRO/NANOSCALE STRUCTURES ON CHF ENHANCEMENT

  • Recently, many research studies have investigated the enormous critical heat flux (CHF) enhancement caused by nanofluids during pool boiling and flow boiling. One of the main reasons for this enhancement is nanoparticle deposition on the heated surface. However, in real applications, nanofluids create many problems when used as working fluids because of sedimentation and aggregation. Therefore, artificial surfaces on silicon and metal have been developed to create an effect similar to that of nanoparticle deposition. These modified surfaces have proved capable of greatly increasing the CHF during pool boiling, and good results have also been observed during flow boiling. In this study, we demonstrate that the wetting ability of a surface, i.e., wettability, and the liquid spreading ability (hydrophilic surface property), are key parameters for increasing the CHF during both pool and flow boiling. We also demonstrate that when the fuel surface in nuclear power plants is modified in a similar manner, it has the same effect, producing a large CHF enhancement.

  • Ni-YSZ 음극의 미세구조와 임피던스특성에 미치는 YSZ 입자크기 및 소결온도의 영향을 고찰하였다. 0.3~0.6$\mu\textrm{m}$의 미세한 NiO 분말을 사용할 경우에는 NiO 분말과 크기가 비슷한 미세한 YSZ 분말(TZ8Y, 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$)을 첨가했을 때 NiO의 입성장을 억제하는 효과가 가장 크고 환원후 Ni의 입자크기를 미세하게 유지할 수 있는 미세구조를 형성하였다. 또한 미세한 YSZ 분말 (TZ8Y, 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$)과 조대한 YSZ 분말(FYT13.0, 2$\mu\textrm{m}$)의 혼합비를 달리하여 후막을 제조하였을 때에 TZ8Y 분말만 첨가한 조성이 가장 낮은 분극 저항을 나타내었다. 한편 소결온도는 삼상계면의 양과 분극저항에 영향을 주었으며, 140$0^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 시편의 분극저항이 가장 낮은 값을 나타내었다.

  • This paper analyzed the suitability about the isolation performance criteria which was based on human impedance and effect of current in IEC 60479-1 on the safety of human being was examined. The method of evaluation by megger and DC voltmeter was analyzed. The differences of isolation performance according to design of high-voltage system were analyzed. The factors which affect the insulation performance were analyzed for HFCV, EV, HEV, etc. through analysis of the isolation performance evaluation method. Finally, design for improved isolation performance was proposed.

  • The electrochemical properties of flyash obtained from combustion of fuel in fossil power plants and their performance as anode material of secondary battery have been investigated Various flysh pellets molded at various molding pressure have been used as anode lithium secondary battery. The best Performance was achieved when flyash pellet molded at pressure of 400kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ is utilized, that is, charge capacity of 300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and Coulombic efficiency of larger than 95% have been achieved. In addition, this battery exhibited good cycling performance. Considering these results, we predicted that utilization of the flyash as anode material and polyaniline conducting polymer as cathode material in a secondary will show capacity of 300mAh/g and Coulombic efficiency of higher than 95%.

  • Researches for the development of renewable energy as a fuel substitute for global warming and depletion of petroleum resources are actively being carried out. Among them, the annual growth rate of PV generation is 20.73%, which is higher than other renewable energy sources. However, the production of 1 ton of polysilicon, which is known as a raw material for solar power generation panels, generates 2 tons of waste. As the demand for PV panels increases, the problem of the treatment of polysilicon sludge is attracting attention, and studies on the utilization of polysilicon sludge are needed. Therefore, in this study, the applicability of polysilicon sludge treated as industrial waste to the lightweight panel for architectural purposes was examined.
