선체-프로펠러-주기관 사이의 맞춤에 의한 선박 추진 계통의 최적화 (Optimization of Ship Propulsion System by Hull-Propeller-Engine Interaction)

  • 본 논문에서는 선체-프로펠러-주기관 사이의 상호 작용을 해석함으로써, 선박의 추진 계통을 최적화하는 방안을 제시하였다. 프로펠러의 직경과 전개 면적비를 체계적으로 변화시켜 가면서, 캐비테이션을 고려하여, 주어진 선속에서의 최적의 회전수-소요 마력의 조합을 선정한다. 그리고, 이에 대응하는 주기관 후보를 찾아내어, 각 후보의 연료 소비율을 비교함으로써, 연료 소비율이 최소가 되는 주기관을 결정하고, 동시에 프로펠러의 주요 요목을 결정하는 프로그램의 개발과정을 설명하였다.

공정 개선에 따른 사고저항성 CrAl 코팅 피복관의 내마모성 향상 (Improved Coating Process for Enhanced Wear Resistance of CrAl Coated Claddings for Accident Tolerant Fuel)

  • This paper investigates the enhanced wear performance of a CrAl coated accident tolerant fuel (ATF) cladding. In the wake of the Fukushima accident, extensive research on ATF with respect to improving the oxidation resistance of cladding materials is ongoing. Since coated Zr claddings can be applied without major changes to the criteria for reactor core design, many researchers are studying coatings for claddings. To improve the quality of the CrAl coating layer, optimization of the manufacturing process is imperative. This study employs arc ion plating to obtain improved CrAl coated claddings using CrAl binary alloy targets through an improved coating method. Surface roughness and adhesion are improved, and droplets are reduced. Furthermore, the coated layer has a dense and fine microstructure. In scratch tests, all the tested CrAl coated claddings exhibit a superior resistance compared to the Zr cladding. In a fretting wear test, the wear volume of the CrAl coated claddings is smaller compared to the Zr cladding. Furthermore, the coated cladding manufactured through the improved process exhibits better wear resistance than other CrAl coated claddings. Based on these results, we suggest that fine microstructure is attributed to a mechanically and microstructurally robust CrAl coating layer, which enhances wear resistance.

  • The spacer grid set is a part of a nuclear fuel assembly. The set has a spring and the spring supports the fuel rods safely. Although material nonlinearity is involved in the deformation of the spring, nonlinearity has not been considered in design of the spring. Recently a nonlinear response structural optimization method has been developed using equivalent loads. It is called nonlinear response optimization equivalent loads (NROEL). In NROEL, the external loads are transformed to the equivalent loads (EL) for linear static analysis and linear response optimization is carried out based on the EL in a cyclic manner until the convergence criteria are satisfied. EL is the load set which generates the same response field of linear analysis as that of nonlinear analysis. Shape optimization of the spring is carried out based on EL. The objective function is defined by minimizing the maximum stress in the spring while mass is limited and the support force of the spring is larger than a certain value. The results are verified by nonlinear response analysis. ABAQUS is used for nonlinear response analysis and GENESIS is employed for linear response optimization.

구조해석을 이용한 수소 연료전지 자동차 압력용기 밸브의 안전성 평가 (Safety Evaluation Based on Structural Analysis of Cylinder Valves for Fuel Cell Vehicles)

  • Green vehicles include electric vehicles, natural gas vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles (FCVs). In FCVs, pressure vessels have cylinder valves to control hydrogen flow. These valves should be of high quality in terms of safety because hydrogen is stored at ultra-high pressure in pressure vessels. Hence, safety evaluation of these valves is necessary to secure the safety of the FCV. A structural analysis of the cylinder valve was conducted in this study by using a commercial finite element analysis code. The results showed that the safety factor of valve component ranged 1.06-186.44. After categorizing, the stress components at critical points of the cylinder valve parts were evaluated using the corresponding allowable design criteria in the ASME code. The pressurization cycle test was performed as per the regulation to evaluate the safety of the valve.

  • 제안된 CANDU-9 원자로의 열수력 과도변화상태가 해석되었으며 주요한 몇개의 과도변화가 열수송 계통의 설계요건을 만족시키는지에 대해 평가되었다. 열수송계통의 과도변화시 핵연료의 건전성과 계통압력상승의 제한 측면에서 분석된 본 해석결과에 따라서 제안된 열수송계통형상과 열수송계통기기의 예비 크기가 확정 및 검증되었다. AECB R-77 요구조건에 대한 CANDU-9 원자로의 만족여부를 평가하였다. 해석결과, 각 과도변화시 원자로 모관의 고압첨두치가 ASME코드의 요구조건에 따른 허용범주내에 있었으며 핵연료의 건전성이 확인되었다. 원자로 가동운전시 제안된 CANDU-9 원자로의 고유적인 핵연료채널을 통한 역류현상을 규명하기 위하여 한개의 펌프가 시동될때의 과도변화현상을 해석하였다.

  • In order to demonstrate Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP), shielding facilities such as hot cell suitable to handling radionuclides and process property will be necessary. But the construction of new facilities needs much money, man-power and time, it is now scheduled to remodel the hot cell, which has already been installed and maintained at Irradiated Material Experiment Facility (IMEF) in the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI). The basic structure and concrete shield wall of hot cell partly have been constructed on the base floor in IMEF building in current status. And hot cell after remodeling will be used for carrying out the lab-scale experiment of ACP. The hot cell was built in accordance with 35 curies of fe-59(1.2 MeV) as design criteria of radiation dose limit. But the radioactive source of ACP is expected to be much higher than design criteria of IMEF, shielding ability of the hot cell in the current status is unsatisfactory to the hot test of ACP. Therefore shield wall shall be reinforced with heavy concrete, steel or lead. In this paper, dose rates are calculated according to ACP source, shielding materials, etc., and reinforcement structures are determined considering the current situation of hot cells, installation of shield windows and the easiness of work.

  • 고준위방사성폐기물 심층처분시설은 고온의 사용후핵연료에서 핵종 누출을 막기 위해 열적, 역학적, 수리적 안전성이 장기적으로 확보되도록 일반적인 지하터널과는 다른 특별한 설계가 필요하다. 스웨덴 SKB는 고준위방사성폐기물 처분시설의 설계 기준을 수립하고 포쉬마크 지역에 대해 실제 설계를 수행하였다. 그리고 지반 불확실성에 대응하기 위해 모니터링과 그에 따른 설계 변경이 가능한 관찰 기법과 단계별 개발법을 제안하였다. SKB는 지반 유형과 지반 거동을 분류하고 포쉬마크 지역에 존재하는 지반유형과 거동의 조합에 적절한 지보 유형을 대응시키는 독자적인 지보 시스템을 개발하였고 기존 지보 시스템과 비교를 통해 안전성을 확인하였다. POSIVA는 SKB와 유사한 방식으로 온칼로 지역에 대해 지보시스템을 개발하였으나 포쉬마크와는 상이한 지반 특성을 반영하였다. 이를 참고하여, 국내 고준위방사성폐기물 심층처분시설 건설을 위한 설계가 이루어질 수 있을 것이며 국내 특성에 맞는 지보 시스템 또한 수립될 수 있을 것이다.

Fuel Cell End Plates: A review

  • The end plates of fuel cell assemblies are used to fasten the inner stacks, reduce the contact pressure, and provide a seal between Membrane-Electrode Assemblies (MEAs). They therefore require sufficient mechanical strength to withstand the tightening pressure, light weight to obtain high energy densities, and stable chemical/electrochemical properties, as well as provide electrical insulation. The design criteria for end plates can be divided into three parts: the material, connecting method, and shape. In the past, end plates were made from metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel alloys, but due to corrosion problems, thermal losses, and their excessive weight, alternative materials such as plastics have been considered. Composite materials consisting of combinations of two or more materials have also been proposed for end plates to enhance their mechanical strength. Tie-rods have been traditionally used to connect end plates, but since the number of connecting parts has increased, resulting in assembly difficulties, new types of connectors have been contemplated. Ideas such as adding reinforcement or flat plates, or using bands or boxes to replace tie-rods have been proposed. Typical end plates are rectangular or cylindrical solid plates. To minimize the weight and provide a uniform pressure distribution, new concepts such as ribbed-, bomb-, or bow-shaped plates have been considered. Even though end plates were not an issue in fuel cell system designs in the past, they now provide a great challenge for designers. Changes in the materials, connecting methods, and shapes of an end plate allow us to achieve lighter, stronger end plates, resulting in more efficient fuel cell systems.

컵버너시험에서 소화기준에 따른 불활성기체의 소화농도에 대한 정량적 차이 (Quantitative Difference in the Extinguishing Concentration of Inert Gases with Fire Suppression Criteria in a Cup Burner Test)

  • 본 연구에서는 $CH_4$$C_3H_8$ 연료의 컵버너 비예혼합화염에서 Swing, Rotation, Lifted 및 Blow-out과 같은 화염 불안정성을 발생시키는 불활성기체($N_2$, Ar, $CO_2$ 및 He)의 농도를 측정하였으며, 소화기준(즉, 화염날림 또는 화염불안정성 개시)에 따른 소화농도의 정량적 차이를 검토하였다. 소화농도의 차이는 부상화염의 발생 그리고 낮은 소화성능의 불활성기체일수록 증가됨을 확인하였다. 소화기준에 따른 소화농도의 최대 차이는 $C_3H_8$-air 비예혼합화염의 최대 연료유속의 조건(1.3 cm/s)에서 약 35%이다. 또한 화염 불안정성의 개시를 기준으로 측정된 소화농도는 정확한 그리고 경제적 설계 농도의 관점에서 유용한 정보를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
