유자과실의 반점피해 상황과 흡즙해충의 종류에 관하여 (The Status of Spot Damage and Fruit Piercing Pests on Yuzu (Citrus Junos) Fruit)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the status of spot damage by fruit piercing pests and the kinds of these pests on yuzu (Citrus junos) fruit in Koheung, the most chief producing district of yuzu fruit in Korea, from ’97 to ’99. The extent of spot damage by fruit piercing pests on yuzu was increasing in recent years. This damage of fruits was severe in the lower canopy than the high one from ground and intercropping groves between yuzu trees had a greater damage to compare with single cropping of yuzu. Spot damage of yuzu fruit was occurred mainly from late September to early November when yuzu fruit is enlarging and coloring yellow. The blackish concave spot on yuzu fruit surface was appeared in 3 days after introduction of Riptortus clavatus into a netted cage containing one yuzu fruit and the diameters of this spot was 8.3 mm. At 10 days after introduction, this spot changed into milky-white with 9.2 mm diameters. One concave spot has contained oil cells by 17.7 and its external appearances has unchanged until harvest. The kinds of piercing pests of yuzu fruit were investigated with 3 orders, 16 families and 37 species. These pests were classified by 11 species of bugs, 5 species of hoppers and 21 species of moths. Among them, dominant species were Physopelta gutta, Halyamorpha halys, Empoasca vitis, Aedia leucomelas, Agrotis tokionis, etc. Macroglossum bombylans and Acherontia s쇼x are newly confirmed species as the fruit piercing moths in Korea.

동결피해 후의 수확시기가 사과 '후지' 품종의 저장 중 과실품질에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Harvest Time after Freezing Damage on Fruit Quality during Storage of 'Fuji' Apples)

  • 본 시험은 이상저온($-3.5^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 7시간 지속)에 의해 수체 상에서 동결된 사과 '후지' 과실들의 수확시기에 따른 품질차이를 비교하고자 실시하였다. 수확 시기는 동결피해 1일 전, 동결피해 2일 후, 동결피해 6일 후였다. 시험에 조사된 과실들의 수확시 가용성 고형물 함량은 $14^{\circ}Bx$ 이상이었다. 동결피해 후 수확한 과실의 수확 시 경도 및 산 함량은 동결피해 전에 수확한 과실보다 낮았다. 저온저장 중의 에틸렌 발생량은 동결피해 후 수확한 과실이 동결피해 전에 수확한 과실보다 높았다. 동결피해 후 수확한 과실의 저온 저장 동안의 품질저하는 동결피해 전에 수확한 과실보다 심하였다. 동결피해 후에 수확한 과실의 저온저장 출고 후 실온 1주일째의 품질 저하는 동결피해 전에 수확한 과실보다 더 심하였다. 동결피해 후에 수확한 시험구들간의 비교에서는 저온저장 8주까지 동결피해 6일 후에 수확한 시험구의 에틸렌 발생량 및 과실품질 저하가 동결피해 2일 후에 수확한 시험구보다 낮았으나, 이러한 차이는 저온저장 8주 이후로는 없었다. 과육 갈변증상 발생률은 $-3.5^{\circ}C$ 이하에서 7시간 동결될 경우 영향을 받지 않은 것으로 나타났다.

노린재류 접종시기와 밀도에 따른 단감 피해과율 (Damage of Sweet Persimmon Fruit by the Inoculation Date and Number of Stink Bugs, Riptortus clavatus, Halyomorpha halys and Plautia stali)

  • 단감에 피해를 일으키는 노린재의 피해양상을 밝히기 위해 접종시기별, 접종밀도별 피해과율을 조사하였다. 톱다리개미허리노린재에 의한 피해과율은 접종밀도, 접종시기, 먹이조건에 따라 유의하게 차이가 있었으며 결과모지당 5마리 접종구에서부터 피해를 보이며 접종시기에서는 6월, 7월, 8월에는 피해가 적었으며 9월, 10월에 피해과가 많아졌다. 단감을 단일먹이로 한 것과 강낭콩과물을 제공한 먹이조건에서의 피해과율에서 유의하게 차이가 있었다. 톱다리개미허리노린재에 의한 피해과는 흡즙흔적이 있는 식흔과로 남으며 흡즙에 의한 낙과증상은 없었다. 썩덩나무노린재는 7월, 8월, 9월의 접종시기별 피해과율이 유의하게 차이가 있었으며 접종밀도에 따른 피해과율에 유의하게 차이가 있어 5마리 처리구에서는 7월의 경우 100%의 피해과율을 보였다. 갈색날개노린재의 접종시기에 따른 피해과율은 유의한 차이가 없었고 접종수준에 따른 피해과율은 1마리, 3마리, 5마리에서 각각 유의하게 차이가 있었다. 피해증상으로 톱다리개미허리노린재와 달리 7월, 8월에는 피해를 받은 과일이 대부분 낙과되었으나 9월 이후의 피해과는 낙과되지 않고 식흔과가 많았다.

사과 주산지 사과원에서 2종 심식나방류의 발생동향 (Recent Occurrence Status of Two Major Fruit Moths, Oriental Fruit Moth and Peach Fruit Moth in Apple Orchards)

  • 본 조사는 1992년부터 2005년까지 14년간 경남북 및 전북의 $4{\sim}8$개 시군의 사과주산지에서 $16{\sim}30$개 사과원을 대상으로 실시되었으며, 과실을 직접 가해하는 2종 해충인 복숭아심식나방(Carposina sasakii)과 복숭아순나빈 Grapholita molesta)의 발생 및 피해정도를 비교, 분석하였다. 수확기 복숭아순나방에 의한 평균 피해과율은 $0.02{\sim}1.64%$였으며, 1997년을 기점으로 그 이전 연도보다 그 후 연도의 피해가 많은 경향이었다. 반면 복숭아심식나방의 평균 피해과율은 $0.02{\sim}1.30%$였으며, 1998년을 제외하고 피해과율이 0.3% 이하로 극히 낮았다. 복숭아순나방과 복숭아심식나방의 발생과원율은 각각 $13{\sim}71%,\;12{\sim}57%$였으며, 1997년 이후로 복숭아순나방의 발생과원율이 복숭아심식나방 발생과원율에 비하여 지속적으로 높게 나타났다. 각 연도별로 최대 피해를 받은 사과원의 피해과율을 비교해 본 결과 역시 발생과원율의 발생경향과 동일하였으며, 최고 피해 사과원의 복숭아순나방 피해과율은 2005년 20%로 조사연도 중에서 가장 높았다. 복숭아순나방 1세대에 의한 사과나무 신초의 피해율은 $0.1{\sim}8.1%$였으며, 수확기 피해과율 간에는 정의 상관관계를 보였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 최근 관행적으로 관리가 이루어지는 사과원에서 복숭아순나방이 복숭아심식나방에 비하여 우점하는 것으로 판단된다.

Structural damage identification using cloud model based fruit fly optimization algorithm

  • In this paper, a Cloud Model based Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (CMFOA) is presented for structural damage identification, which is a global optimization algorithm inspired by the foraging behavior of fruit fly swarm. It is assumed that damage only leads to the decrease in elementary stiffness. The differences on time-domain structural acceleration data are used to construct the objective function, which transforms the damaged identification problem of a structure into an optimization problem. The effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy of the CMFOA are demonstrated by two different numerical simulation structures, including a simply supported beam and a cantilevered plate. Numerical results show that the CMFOA has a better capacity for structural damage identification than the basic Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) and the CMFOA is not sensitive to measurement noise.

Multi-swarm fruit fly optimization algorithm for structural damage identification

  • In this paper, the Multi-Swarm Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (MFOA) is presented for structural damage identification using the first several natural frequencies and mode shapes. We assume damage only leads to the decrease of element stiffness. The differences on natural frequencies and mode shapes of damaged and intact state of a structure are used to establish the objective function, which transforms a damage identification problem into an optimization problem. The effectiveness and accuracy of MFOA are demonstrated by three different structures. Numerical results show that the MFOA has a better capacity for structural damage identification than the original Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) does.

Protective effects of Camellia sinensis fruit and fruit peels against oxidative DNA damage

  • Camellia sinensis, Green tea, contains phenolic compounds that act to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as catechin, epicatechin, etc. In contrast with the tea leaf, the bioactivity of its fruit and the fruit peels remains still unclear. This study focused on the effects of fruit and fruit peels of C. sinensis (FC and PC) against oxidative DNA damage in NIH/3T3 cells. The scavenging effects of FC and PC on ROS were assessed using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl or 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid radicals. The measurement of ROS in cellular levels was conducted by DCFDA reagent and the protein expression of γ-H2AX, H2AX, cleaved caspase-3, p53, and, p-p53 was analyzed by immunoblotting. The gene expressions of p53 and H2AX were assessed using polymerase chain reaction techniques. The major metabolites of FC and PC were quantitatively measured analyzed and the amounts of phenolic compounds and flavonoids in PC were greater than those in FC. Further, PC suppressed ROS production, which protects the oxidative stress-induced DNA damage through reducing H2AX, p53, and caspase-3 phosphorylation. These results refer that the protective effects of FC and PC are mediated by inhibition of p53 signaling pathways, probably via the bioactivity of phenolic compounds. Thus, FC and PC can serve as a potential antioxidant in DNA damage-associated diseases.

  • In order to estimate the damage of orchards due' to natural disasters such as typhoon, severe rain, freezing or frost, it is necessary to estimate the number of fruit bearing before and after the damage. To estimate the fruit bearing after the damages are easily done by delegations, but it cost too high to survey every insured farm household and calculate the fruit bearing before the damage. In this article, we suggest to use a random coefficient model to predict the numbers of fruit bearing in the orchards before the damage based on the tree age and the area information.

친환경 과원의 단감 '부유'(Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu') 과실의 동상해에 미치는 나무의 식재위치와 착과방향의 영향 (Effect of Planting Site and Direction of Fruiting on Fruit Frost Damage in Persimmon (Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu') Fruits from Environment-friendly Orchard)

  • 본 연구는 친환경단감과원의 부유(Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu') 과실을 대상으로 창원과 창녕지역에서 발생한 저온내습(2012년 11월 2일)으로 인한 가을 동상해발생과 식재위치(표고) 및 나무 내에서의 착과 방향의 관계를 알아보고자 수행되었다. 창녕지역 과원의 과중과 과실횡경은 착과방향에 의해 강하게 영향을 받았으며(p<0.01), 과실종경과 동상해발생은 식재위치(p<0.01)와 깊은 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 과실경도와 과실종경은 각각 착과방향과 식재위치의 영향을 받는 것으로 밝혀졌다(p<0.05). 특히 동상해는 과원 하단에 식재된 나무의 과실(15.2%)과 잎(약 90%)에서 심하게 나타나 동상해의 주요 요인이 과원의 지형적 특징인 것으로 나타났다. 과실 동상해를 입은 과실은 과피에 수침상 반점이나 흔적이 발생했다. 한편 창원지역의 과원에서는 과실횡경이 식재위치의 영향을 받은 것(p<0.05)을 제외하고 식재위치와 착과방향이 과실의 생육 및 동상해발생에 영향을 주지 않았다.

인체 산화적 DNA손상에 대한 Human Biomonitoring도구로서 Alkaline Comet Assay의 활용 가능성 연구 (Application of the Alkaline Comet Assay for Detecting Oxidative DNA Damage in Human Biomonitoring)

  • The alkaline comet assay has been used with increasing popularity to investigate the level of DNA damage in biomonitoring studies within the last decade in Western countries. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the alkaline comet assay as a biomarker of oxidative DNA damage for monitoring in the Korean population, and also to evaluate the effect of nutritional status and lifestyle factors on H2O2 induced oxidative DNA damage measured by the alkaline comet assay in human lymphocytes. The study population consisted of 61 healthy Korean male volunteers, aged 20-28. Epidemiological background data including dietary habits, smoking habits and anthropometrical measurements were collected through personal interviews. After blood collection, the comet assay in peripheral lymphocytes and plasma lipids analysis was carried out and the results analyzed. Tail moment (TM) and tail length (TL) of the comet assay were use\ulcorner to measure DNA damage in the lymphocytes of the subjects. Statistically significant (p < 0.05) positive correlations were observed between DNA damage (TM or TL) and smoking habits expressed as cigarettes smoked per day and pack years (r = 0.311 and 0.382 for TM, r = 0.294 and 0.350 for TL, respectively). There were also significant positive correlations between DNA damage parameter and waist-hip ratio. Higher plasma triglyceride levels were associated with increased damage to DNA. There were no correlations between the consumption frequencies of vegetables and DNA damage to the subjects. However, consumption frequencies of fruit and fruit juice intake were inversely associated with the TM and TL. The results indicate that die comet assay is a simple, rapid and sensitive method for detecting lymphocyte DNA damage induced by cigarette smoking. Consumption of fruit or fruit juices could potentiall modify the damaged DNA in the human peripheral lymphocytes of young Korean men.
