일본 동상성판정기준을 적용한 시료의 동상예측 및 동상성 평가 (Evaluation of Frost Heave Prediction and Frost Susceptibility in Sample using JGS Test Method)

  • This paper show two different standardized test methods(Japanese Geotechnical Society; JGS 2003). One test is a "Test Method for Frost Heave Prediction Test, JGS 0171-2003", and the other test is a "Test Method for Frost Susceptibility, JGS 0172-2003". The purpose of this test is to obtain the freezing rate(freezing speed), frost heave ratio(heave to sample height), frost heave rate(heaving speed), and other parameters to be used for frost heave prediction and determine the frost susceptibility by freezing test with water intake. This method shall be used to predict the frost heave in frozen ground and evaluate the frost susceptibility of natural and replacement materials.

Experimental assessment of the effect of frozen fringe thickness on frost heave

  • A frozen fringe plays a key role in frost heave development in soils. Previous studies have focused on the physical and mechanical properties of the frozen fringe, such as overall hydraulic conductivity, water content and pore pressure. It has been proposed that the thickness of the frozen fringe controls frost heave behavior, but this effect has not been thoroughly evaluated. This study used a temperature-controllable cell to investigate the impact of frozen fringe thickness on the characteristics of frost heave. A series of laboratory tests was performed with various temperature boundary conditions and specimen heights, revealing that: (1) the amount and rate of development of frost heave are dependent on the frozen fringe thickness; (2) the thicker the frozen fringe, the thinner the resulting ice lens; and (3) care must be taken when using the frost heave ratio to characterize frost heave and evaluate frost susceptibility because the frost heave ratio is not a normalized factor but a specimen height-dependent factor.

폐타이어분말 혼합이 동상억제에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study for reducing frost susceptibility using granulated used-tire)

  • The authors conducted field experiments of frost heave to evaluate a method for reducing frost susceptibility using granulated used-tire mixture for 3 winters. Qualitative analyses for the evaluation of restraint effect of frost susceptibility by utilizing granulated used-tire soil mixture were conducted with the segregation potential concept and frost heave ratio. By mixing soil with granulated tire, the frost susceptibility was decreased drastically. From the result of the analyses, it was confirmed that granulated tire is an excellent material in controlling the frost susceptibility.

착상조건에서 R744 냉매 적용 탑차용 냉장시스템의 성능해석 (Performance Simulation of a R744 Refrigeration System in a Refrigerator Truck under a Frost Condition)

  • R744 has been appropriated for substitute refrigerant, because of its high stability, and environment-friendly nature as a natural refrigerant. To analyze the cooling performance of a refrigeration system in a refrigerator truck using R744 according to the blocking ratio, an analytical model of the refrigeration system was developed under frost conditions, using EES. The performance of the refrigeration system was predicted with the indoor and outdoor air temperature, outdoor air velocity, and compressor speed. As a result, the system performance decreased, with the increase of frost growth. When the blocking ratio was 40.4% in the basic condition, the refrigeration capacity was decreased by 27.1%, compared to the non-frost condition.

  • Cold area in korea, railway roadbed and gravel ballast was occurred frost-heaving. So during winter, track was rising and during thaw, track was sinking. In order to prevent the damage of frost-heaving, we have applied a few countermeasures which are circumfusion of calcium chloride and replacement of gravel ballast method. This countermeasures effect is feeble, not continuous and not eco-friendly. This study suggested that we use wasted tire-chips in frost-heaving area and considered appropriate new method to maintenance. This method was named "A Method of Wasted Tire-Chips Post". To prove effect of this method, we have tested in laboratory and field. The result of frost-heaving-ratio field test was decreased frost-heaving-ratio about 50% using "A Method of Wasted Tire-Chips Post".

열 사이펀 성능에 따른 동상민감성 지반의 거동 비교 (Frost Heave of Frost Susceptible Soil According to Performance of Thermo-syphon)

  • 동상민감성 지반의 융기 및 침하 방지를 위한 공법을 지반 안정화 공법이라고 하며 열 사이펀은 대표적인 지반 안정화 공법 중 하나이다. 열 사이펀은 최근 간편한 해석모델 개발과 더불어 열 해석이 진행되었지만, 이에 따른 동상민감성 지반의 열적 거동을 고려하지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구는 열 사이펀의 성능에 따른 지반의 온도 변화를 위한 열 해석과 이에 따른 지반의 거동을 예측하기 위한 구조해석을 동시에 수행하기 위해 ABAQUS 내부 사용자 서브루틴을 사용하여 열 사이펀을 적용한 TM(Thermo-Mechanical) 모델을 개발하여 열 사이펀의 성능에 따른 지반 융기 억제성능을 확인하였다. 해석결과 열 사이펀의 성능 증가에 따라 지반의 최종 융기가 감소하였으며 냉매 충전율 25%, 50% 그리고 100%의 열 사이펀 적용 시 각각 5.5%, 14.4%, 21% 융기 억제성능을 나타내었다.

착상시 설계인자에 따른 핀-관 열교환기의 성능변화에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Effects of Design Factors for the Performance of Fin-Tube Heat Exchanger Under Frosting Conditions)

  • In this study, the effects of design factors of finned-tube heat exchanger, such as fin spacing and fin array on the frost growth and heat exchanger performance are investigated under a frosting condition. The results show that the amount of frost, frost density and blockage ratio of air flow passage increase with decreasing fin spacing. Heat transfer rate increases momentarily at the initial stage of frosting and then decreases. After that heat transfer rate continues to increase again to reach a maximum value and then decreases dramatically. It is shown that the time required for heat transfer rate to reach a maximum value becomes shorter with decreasing fin spacing, and after a maximum value, heat transfer rate decreases very fast. The maximum allowable blockage ratio is introduced to determine the operation limit of a finned-tube heat exchanger operating under frosting condition and is obtained as a function of fin spacing. It is also shown that heat transfer rate of heat exchanger with staggered fin array increases about 17% and the amount of pressure drop of air increases about 1~2 mmH$_{2}$O, compared with those of in-line type heat exchanger under frosting condition.

  • To analyze the cooling performance of fin-tube evaporator in the refrigerator truck using R744 according to frost growth, the analytical model of evaporator was developed under frost and non-frost conditions. The performance of fin-tube evaporator was investigated with frost thickness and indoor temperature. Besides, the performance of evaporator under frost condition was compared to that under non-frost condition. As a result, area of air passage and system performance were decreased as the frost thickness increased. The cooling capacity was reduced by 10%, 20%, 30% when the frost thickness was 0.7 mm, 1.1 mm, and 1.6 mm respectively. At these conditions, the block ratio was 31%, 48%, and 71%. In addition, the outlet quality of refrigerant was not over 1 when the frost thickness was 1.6 mm in spite of high indoor air temperature.

비회와 저회의 적정 혼합비로 다짐한 석탄회의 동상성 (The Frost-Susceptibility of Compacted Coal Ash with Proper Mixing Ratio of Fly Ash to Bottom Ash)

  • 다짐특성과 CBR값에 의해 얻어진 비회와 저회의 적정 혼합비는 5:5 또는 석탄회 재질에 따라서 6:4 까지도 가능하였다. 그러나 이들 혼합회에는 실트 크기의 입자를 상당히 많이 함유하게 되어, 입도분포등의 종래 기준에 의하면 동상현상에 의한 동해를 받기 쉬울 것으로 여겨진다. 본 연구는 적정비로 혼합한 석탄회를 노상재로서 사용하기 위하여 다짐할 경우의 동상성에 대해 실험적으로 검토한 것이다. 또한, 이들 혼합회를 동상의 피해에 대해 안전한 재료로 만들기 위하여 필요한 적정 시멘트 첨가량도 구하였다. 적정비로 혼합한 석탄회는 동상현상에 의한 동해를 받기 쉬운 재료이지만, 4% 정도의 시멘트를 첨가함으로써 동상량은 만족할 만큼 크게 줄일 수 있었다. 동상량은 혼합회의 강도와는 반비례적인 관계에 있고, 시료의 동결선속으로 공급되는 수분을 제한할 수 있을 정도의 작은 투수계수 k내에서는 동상량과 log k 는 비례관계에 있다고 할 수 있다.

  • The purpose of this experimental study are to produce a durable concrete and to investigate the various factors that can deteriorate the concrete when freezing and thawing activity. Among the various factors that can influence the frost resistance of concrete, this study examined mainly the relationship of the frost resistance with the water-cement ratio, admixture and admixture replacement ratio and propose the available water-cement ratio, admixture and admixture replacement ratio.
