  • Under the intense-impulsive loading, structures are subjected to the wide range of pressures at an instantaneous time. The constitutive laws capable to describe the material behavior under the extreme pressure as well as the low pressure are necessary for the analysis of the structural behavior under the intense -impulsive loadings. In this study, two plastic models, the pressure independent Von-Mises model and the pressure dependent Drucker-Prager model, are employed for the wave propagation analysis. Governing equations of this study are conservation equations of momentum and mass in Lagrangian coordinate system which is fixed to the material. Due to the shock-front which violates the continuity assumptions inherent in the differential equations numerical artificial viscosity is used to spread the shock front over several computational zones. These equations are solved by Finite Difference Method with discretized time and space coordinates. The associate normality flow rule as a plastic theory is implemented to find the plastic strains.

  • The main purpose of the present study was to find the effect of short term creating loading on repeated bouts of kicking, plasma creating phosphokinase and anaerobic power in male taekwondo player from high school. Sixteen male were randomly assigned to two groups. They were tested before and after 6 days of placebo$(4{\times}5g\;glucose\;d^{-1},\;N=11)$ or Creatine monohydrate loading$(consume\;0.3g\;kg^{-1},\;N=11)$. Repeated bouts of kicking was tested through maximal front kicking continuously for 1 minute and took a rest for 30 seconds, after 30 seconds rest they should have to start kicking again. They repeated it 2 times more(total 3 sets) and the kicking times were measured each sets. Also, body composition, CPK, mean power and peak power were measured before and after experiment. The following results were obtained from this study; 1. The kicking test was significantly increased at 1, 2, 3 sets only in creatine loading group(p<.05, p<.01). 2. Only creatine loading group was significantly increased of plasma creatine phosphokinase(p<.01). 3. Only creatine loading group were significantly increased both of mean power and peak power(p<.05; p<.01). These results suggest that short creatine loading was effective diet protocol in taekwondo player from male high school.

  • Initiation and growth of delamination is a great concern of designers of composite structures. Interface elements with de-cohesive constitutive law in the content of continuum damage mechanics can be used to predict initiation and growth of delamination in single and mixed mode conditions. In this paper, an interface element based on the cohesive zone method has been developed to simulate delaminatoin growth of post-buckled laminate under fatigue loading. The model was programmed as the user element and user material by the "User Programmable Features" in ANSYS finite element software. The interface element is a three-dimensional 20 node brick with small thickness. Because of mixed-mode condition of stress field at the delamination-front of post-buckled laminates, a mixed-mode bilinear constitutive law has been used as user material in this model. The constitutive law of interface element has been verified by modelling of a single element. A composite laminate with initial delamination under quasi-static compressive Loading available from literature has been remodeled with the present approach. Moreover, it will be shown that, the closer the delamination to the free surface of laminate, the slower the delamination growth under compressive fatigue loading. The effects of laminate configuration on delamination growth are also investigated.

  • 초록 The validity, of a single parameter such as stress intensity, factor K or J-integral in traditional fracture mechanics depends strongly on the geometry, and loading condition. Therefore the second parameter like T-stress measuring the stress constraint is additionally needed to characterize the general crack-tip fields. While many, research works have been done to verify, the J-T description of elastic-plastic crack-tip stress fields in plane strain specimens, limited works (especially. for bimaterials) have been performed to describe the structural surface crack-front stress fields with the two parameters. On this background, via detailed three dimensional finite element analyses for surface-cracked plates and straight pipes of homogeneous materials and bimaterials under various loadings, we investigate the extended validity or limitation of the two parameter approach. We here first develop a full 3D mesh generating program for semi-elliptical surface cracks, and calculate elastic T-stress from the obtained finite element stress field. Comparing the J-T predictions to the elastic-plastic stresses from 3D finite element analyses. we then confirm the extended validity of fracture mechanics methodology based on the J-T two parameters in characterizing the surface crack-front fields of welded plates and pipes under various loadings.

  • An active front end (AFE) is required for a three-phase induction motor (IM) fed by a voltage source inverter (VSI), because of the increasing need to derive quality current from the utility end without sacrificing the power factor (PF). This study investigates a proportional-plus-integral (PI) controller based AFE topology that uses a super-lift converter (SLC). The significance of the proposed SLC, which converts rectified AC supply to geometrically proceed ripple-free DC supply, is explained. Variations in several power quality parameters in the intended IM drive for 0% and 100% loading conditions are demonstrated. A simulation is conducted by using MATLAB/Simulink software, and a prototype is built with a field programmable gate array (FPGA) Spartan-6 processor. Simulation results are correlated with the experimental results obtained from a 0.5 HP IM drive prototype with speed feedback and a voltage/frequency (V/f) control strategy. The proposed AFE topology using SLC is suitable for three-phase IM drives, considering the supply end PF, the DC-link voltage and current, the total harmonic distortion (THD) in supply current, and the speed response of IM.

  • The vibrational behavior of a front load washing machine is heavily influenced by the floor stiffness on which the washing machine is installed. In case the floor stiffness is extremely low like a wooden floor (we call it a 'soft floor, S/F'), it is quite probable that a washer's rigid body mode exists in the operating frequency range. In this case, the outer frame vibration level would be very high, but the mitigation scheme is quite limited except the excitation force abatement by acquisition of the optimal inertia in the internal vibratory system and the diaphragm's stiffness with the minimum force transfer.

  • In this study, experiments were tried on the mixed-mode I+II single overloading model which changes the loading mode of overload and fatigue load. Aspects of deformation field in front of the crack which is formed by mixed-mode I+II single overloading were experimentally studied. Then the shape and size of mixed-mode plastic zone were approximately calculated. The propagation behavior of fatigue crack was examined under the test conditions combined by changing the loading mode. The behavior of fatigue cracks were greatly affected by shapes of plastic deformation field and applying mode of fatigue load. Accuracy of prediction and evaluation for fatigue life may be improved by considering all aspects of deformation and behavior of fatigue cracks.

  • In this letter, a miniaturized log-periodic dipole array (LPDA) antenna operating from 1 GHz to 6 GHz is proposed for portable direction finding applications. To reduce the lateral size of an LPDA antenna, bow-tie elements and a top-loading technique are utilized and spacing factor is decreased to reduce the spacing between the LPDA elements. The proposed miniaturized LPDA antenna has the measured gain and front-to-back ratio ranging from 1.2 dBi to 3 dBi and from 7 dB to 22 dB, respectively.

  • Ball balance belong to a kind of automatic balancers opten referred to as direct balancer or passive mass systems. In such systems the balancing is achieved with free masses. One of the most prevalent problems encountered in washing is the vibration during spin cycle. The primary cause of this vibration is mass unbalance associated with non unform distribution of clothes. Front loading type machine of European style, especially, has inherent unbalance mass due to its shape and this then makes the vibration worse than top loading type machine, which is more popular in Korea. Since the mass distribution of cloths is random and can not be predicted in advance, direct automatic balances appear to be the only feasible alternative. The results form computer simulation and experimental testing will be presented together with stability implications.
