  • This paper is to propose an algorithm for digital hologram watermarking by using a characteristic of the Fresnel diffraction model in 2D image. When 2D image is applied Fresnel transform, the result concentrates center region. When applied to a hologram, on the other hand, the result focused diffraction pattern of 2D form. Using this characteristic, to generate diffraction model by applying 2-th Fresnel transform to the hologram. Corner of diffraction model is mark space. This mark space is embedded watermark and extracted watermark. Experimental results showed that all the extracted watermarks after several kinds of attacks (Gaussian blurring, Sharpening, JPEG compression) showed visibilities good enough to be recognized to insist the ownership of the hologram.

  • We have studied the behavior of light in the intermediate regime between a single nanoslit and an infinite nanoslit array. We first calculated the optical characteristics of a small number of nanoslits using finite element numerical analysis. The phase variance of the proposed nanoslit model shows a gradual phase shift between a single nanoslit and ideal nanoslit array, which stabilizes before the total array length becomes ${\sim}0.5{\lambda}$. Next, we designed a transmission-enhanced Fresnel zone plate by applying the phase characteristics from the small-number nanoslit model. The virtual-point-source method suggests that the proposed Fresnel zone plate with phase-invariant nanoslits achieves 2.34x higher transmission efficiency than a conventional Fresnel zone plate. Our report describes the intermediate behaviors of a nanoslit array, which could also benefit subwavelength metallic structure research of metasurfaces.

  • This paper proposes the mathematical model of Fresnel effect used to illuminate and simulate a surface character model for defense game play. The term illumination is used to represent the process by which the amount of light reaching a surface character model used on game play is determined. The character surface shaders generally use a mathematical model to predict how light will reflect on triangles. The shading normally represents the methods used to determine the color and intensity of light reflected toward the viewer for each pixel representing the character surface model of the game. This model computes the reflection and transmission coefficients and compares simulated results to the Fresnel equations for the real game improvement.

  • Digital watermarking is a technique embedding hidden information into multimedia data imperceptibly such as images and sounds. Generally an original image is transformed and coded watermark data is embedded in frequency domain watermarking models. In this paper, We propose a new data embedding method using Fresnel transform. A watermark image is fresnel-transformed and the intensity of transformed pattern is embedded into original image. Our watermarking model has the flexibility In data embedding. It is possible to get many embedding patterns from a single watermark image by using various distance parameters with Fresnel transform. All kinds of image models such af shape, letter and photo ran be used as a watermark data. The watermarking experiments were conducted to show the validity of the proposed method, and the results show that our method has the robustness against lossy compression, filtering and geometric transformation.

In this paper, We propose a new color image watermarking technique using Fresnel transform. A watermark image is Fresnel - transformed and the intensity of transformed pattern is embedded into color image. In our watermarking model, an original image is converted from RGB components into YCrCb components and then the values of real number and imaginary number of a Fresnel-transformed pattern of a watermark image are embedded into Y component. The watermarking experiments were conducted to show the validity of the proposed method using PSNR value, and the results show that our method has the robustness against lossy compression like JPEG.

  • This paper deals with the effectiveness of a fiber optic solar lighting system that uses a Fresnel lens mounted on a two-axis solar tracker. A series of comparative analyses were made concerning its performance as compared to fluorescent lighting by using a simulation model based on ECOTECT and RADIANCE as well as referring to actual data. ECOTECT was used to model the test room (space) while RADIANCE was used for its indoor lighting conditions (environment). It was found that the average indoor light levels of fluorescent lighting fully satisfy the KS standard (KS A 3011, general office, class [G]: 300-400-600 lux) whereas those of the solar lighting with light diffusers depends on the occlusion factor of roller shades installed on the south window.

  • The theoretical propagation modes of radio waves in the area of Line of Sight(LOS) within Fresnel zone are searched for the available detection ranges in a Marine RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The structural LOS model to Earth's curvature is proposed and, the calculation method of horizontal distance in a specific radio frequency is also considered in this work As studying results, it is found that the height of antenna to cover the detection ranges and the influences of detection ranges by weather environments can be analyse with the theoretical methods.

  • The main purpose of this research is to utilize simple mathematical models to depict the vibration behavior and the resulted sound field of a piezoelectric disk for ultrasonic transducers. Instead of using 1-D vibration model, coupled effect between the thickness and the radial motions was considered to be close to the real vibration behavior. Moreover, Huygens-Fresnel principle was used in both incident and reflected waves to analyze the sound field under obstacles in finite distance. Results of the tested piezoelectric disk show that, discrepancies between the simulation and experiment are 2.5% for resonant frequency and 12% for resulted sound field. Therefore, the proposed method can be used to reduce the complexity in modeling vibration problems, and increase the reliability on analyzing piezoeletric transducers in the design stage.

  • Using Fresnel reflection and Hapke BRDF model with Apollo 10084 soil sample's scattering properties, we constructed a real scale optical lunar model and used it to simulate lunar apparent albedo and moonshine. For Fresnel reflection, the refractive index of $1.68{\pm}0.5$ was used. For Hapke BRDF parameters from BUGs BRDF measurement, the single scattering with w=0.33, hot spot width h=0.017, average phase angle ${\zeta}$=-0.086 and Legendre polynomial coefficients b=0.308, c=0.425 in wavelength 700nm with two types of Henyey-Greenstein phase function was applied. The computation model includes the Sun as a Lambertian scattering sphere, emitting 1.5078 W/m2 at 700nm in wavelength. The Sun and Moon models were then imported into the IRT based radiative transfer computation. The trial simulation of the irradiance levels of moonshine lights shows that they agree well with the ROLO measurement data. We then estimate the lunar apparent albedo to 0.11. The results are to be compared with the measurement data.
