폐콘크리트 재활용에 있어서 강도특성상의 문제점 (Problems in Strength Characteristics of Recycled Waste Concrete)

  • Selected strength characteristics of recycled concrete using crushed waste concrete were compared with those of conventional concrete using natural aggregate. Compressive strength, bonding at the interface between recycled aggregate and fresh mortar, strain and deflection under three-point bending were evaluated. Recycled concrete, in general, showed lower compressive strength, lower edlastic modulus, higher stain and higher deflection under the same loading level, compared with those of conventional concretes. However, the strength retaining ratios of recycled concretes were higher than those of conventional concretes. The compressive strength which is one of the most important load carrying capacities of concrete should be improved for successful re-use of waste concrete in structural concrete.

  • The study of recycled aggregate concrete in which demolition waste is utilized to produce aggregate for new concrete, can contribute to the solution of two problems. The first is the shortage of aggregate from river, and the second is the waste disposal problem. In comparison with natural aggregate concrete, recycled aggregate concrete shows reductions in compressive strength, tensile strength , vending strength, shear strength and increases in drying shrinkage and creep. Recycled aggregate concrete may also be less durable due to increase in porosity and permeability. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the applicability of recycled concrete in the influence of a substitute ratio of recycled sand gravel.

  • Lately, among concrete component used in construction works, the aggregate is the most important material because it hold about 70~80 Vo1% of most structural materials. Considering that the demand of aggregate is on the continuous increase in the construction works year after year, it is a very urgent thing to develop a substitute aggregate for river aggregate. This paper, an experimental study on the effect of corrosion protection by tighting concrete used fly-ash and silica fume, is to investigate workability and engineering properties of concrete used fly-ash and silica fume. As a test results, contrary to SF, workability of concrete used FA is inclined to be improved. And in the case of containing SF, the compressive strength containing admixtures is higher than plain concrete with increasing curing age.

  • This study is applying to the concrete with the variation of the variation of the sludge contents, to analyze the properties of the fresh concrete and the mechanical properties of hardened concrete give the reference data of actual ready mixed concrete. To the result of this study in the condition of W/C 60%. As a result of this experiment and considering the drying shrinkage, it is thought that in using sludge, the less amount of sludge than 4% can produce of good quality concrete.

  • When fresh concrete is exposed to sufficiently low temperature, the free water in the concrete is cooled below its freezing point and transforms into ice, which causes decrease in compressive strength of concrete. Of the many influencing factors on the loss of compressive strength, the age of concrete at the beginning of freezing, water-cement ratio, and cement-type are significantly important. The objective of this study is to examine how the these factors affect the compressive strength of concrete frozen at early ages. The results from the tests showed that as age at the beginning of freezing is delayed and water-cement ratio is low, the loss of compressive strength decreases. In addition, concrete made with high-early-strength cement is less susceptible to frost damage than concrete made with ordinary portland cement.

  • In the present study, we have developed high strength concrete which is adequate for the long span PC beam above 40 meters. We have selected the most adequate materials for high strength concrete through laboratory tests and in-situ mock-up applications. We verified and decided the best curing condition of high strength concrete, and suggests the optimum mix design of high strength concrete. In the future, we will verify the properties-fresh and hardened concrete- of high strength concrete and its serviceability, and also apply the high strength concrete to newly-constructed real bridge structure.

Identification of Electrical Resistance of Fresh State Concrete for Nondestructive Setting Process Monitoring

  • Concrete undergoes significant phase changes from liquid to solid states as hydration progresses. These phase changes are known as the setting process. A liquid state concrete is electrically conductive because of the presence of water and ions. However, since the conductive elements in the liquid state of concrete are consumed to produce non-conductive hydration products, the electrical conductivity of hydrating concrete decreases during the setting process. Therefore, the electrical properties of hydrating concrete can be used to monitor the setting process of concrete. In this study, a parameter identification method to estimate electrical parameters such as ohmic resistance of concrete is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method for monitoring the setting process of concrete is experimentally validated.

  • Recently, owing to the deterioration of reconstruction and the construction, much of the construction waste is discharged in our construction field, and the amount of construction waste is rapidly increased. These waste are raised to financial and environmental problems, so the method of reusing waste concretes has been studied and carried out many direction. Especially being want of resources, if waste concrete could be recycled as aggregates for concrete, it will contribute to solve the exhaustion of natural aggregate, in terms of saving resources and protecting environment. This study is that the mechanical properties of concrete with recycled coarse aggregate were investigated for types of mineral admixture and the substitution of recycled coarse aggregate. The result of this study, in case of using mineral admixture, the property of fresh concrete was rised. And the property of harden concrete for the substitution ratio of recycled coarse aggregate was decreased. But the property of concrete with mineral admixture was better than that of concrete used only cement.

  • The use of lightweight concrete products is usually increased at a recently high structures. Among the rest EPSB concrete products which have an excellence on the sound and thermal insolation are used. Also, the gathering of nature aggregate is limited, so that lack of fine aggregate is appearing. The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data of properties of EPSB concrete in according to types of aggregate. The results of experiment are as follow. The EPSB concrete using bottom ash is appeared the lowest slump in fresh concrete. The EPSB concrete using river sand and bottom ash are showed as a similar compressive strength except it using crushed sand in hardened concrete.

Rheological Properties of Cement Paste incorporating Domestic HWRA for Ultra-high-fluidity concrete

  • An understanding of rheological property on cement paste is one of the important factor to design concrete such as High-fluidity Concrete (HFC) for a specific application. The HFC is a specially proportioned hydraulic cement concrete that enables the fresh concrete to flow easily into the forms and around the reinforcement and prestressing steel without vibration and segregation. Use of this type of concrete for the concrete building construction, manufacture of precast, prestressed bridge elements provides the benefits of increased rate of production and safety, reduced labor needs, and lower noise levels. This paper presents the performance of rheological properties of cement paste incorporating domestic high-water-reduced-admixture (HWRA) for an Ultra-high-fluidity concrete (UHFC). Investigation was carried out on cement pastes with combinations of various dosages of HWRA and water/cement ratios.
