AC/DC Converter Suitable for a Pulsed Mode Switching DC Power Supply (펄스모드 스위칭 직류전원 장치에 적합한 AC/DC 컨버터)

  • This paper describes a novel ac/dc power converter suitable for frequent output short-circuit faults. The output dc power of the proposed converter can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of short-circuit fault. The rising time of the dc load voltage is as small as several hundred microseconds, and there Is no overshoot of the dc voltage because the dc output fillet capacitors stay at a undischarged state. The proposed converter has the characteristics of a simplified structure, reduced cost, weight, and volume compared to the conventional power supplies for frequent output short-circuit. Analysis, simulations, and experiments are carried out to investigate the operation and usefulness of the proposed scheme.

Clonorchis Sinensis Research Reported in Korea from 2001 to 2007 (간흡충 관련 국내 연구논문 분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of research on clonorchis sinensis in Korea. Method: The study design was a literature analysis in which research studies with 'Clonorchis' in the title were collected from 2001 to 2007. A total of 115 research studies were analyzed based on the year of publication, study design, major or institute of researcher, study sample, and research theme. Results: 10-19% of the research studies were published each year from 2001 to 2007. Experimental study design was the most frequent at 54.8%. Medicine or parasitology as the major of researchers were 43.2% and 41.2% retrospectively, but no nursing studies were found. For study samples, 65.9% were cyst larvae and animals, followed by human beings (29.5%). In research theme, the structure and gene analysis of clonorchis sinensis was the most frequent (32.1%), followed by animal experimental studies (15.7%), epidemic studies of clonorchis sinensis prevalence and changes (13.0%), and methods of diagnosis of clonorchis sinensis and effectiveness (12.2%). Conclusion: Although positive rate of clonorchis sinensis is still high, intervention studies for managing clonorchis sinensis were not found. So, methodological research developing clonorchis sinensis management program and intervention study is needed for high risk groups in rural communities.

Legal Constraint of Airline Alliance (항공사 제휴의 법적 규제)

  • After introduced in 1980's, the Frequent Flyer Program(FFP) was one of the most successful marketing tools in the airline industry and it has become a major linkage pin of strategic alliances for airlines despite of legal constraint. Further, the world air transport market progresses rapidly from a one-to-one alliance to a global alliance among groups due to fierce competition of the markets. In this study, I first examine the trends and the characteristics of global alliance groups. Further, I analyze the types of airline strategic alliances in the FFP, and present management strategy of the FFP for national flag carriers based on the collected data. It is suggested that airlines, including the two major Korean airline companies, consider the advantages of strategic alliances on the FFP in a rapidly changing management environment.

  • The wear becomes the most complicated cause of making various machineries short lives. In the studies by many scholors so far, the accurate and perfect methods to eliminate it completely are not found yet owing to many affected factors. On this view point of Depositional Wear, the wear test with seven different specimens from the part of frequent usage of which are carbon steel, nickel, copper, aluminum, zinc, lead and tin was attempted to make clear the relation between the wear of different metals and their melting point, crystal structure, sliding speed, load and lattice factors. The results of this study are summerized as follows; 1) Worn amount of each metal is maximum when each metal is same quality. 2) The easier becomes the the formation of solid solution in the course of friction proceeding, the more it results in worn amount of each metal. 3) The samer is each metal in crystal structure as well as lattice factor, the more it results in worn amount of each metal. These results might be of use in designing machineries, selecting materials and operating machineries.

Design and Manufacture of Composite Machine Tool Structures for High Speed Milling Machines (고속 밀링 머신용 복합재료 이송부의 설계와 제작)

  • To maximize the productivity in machining molds and dies, machine tools should operate at high speeds. However, the productivity of mold manufacturing has not increased significantly because CNC milling machines have massive slides, which do not allow rapid acceleration and deceleration during the frequent starts/stops encountered in machining molds and dies. This paper presents the use of composites for these slides to overcome this limitation. The vertical and horizontal slides of a large CNC machine were constructed by bonding high-modulus carbon-fiber epoxy composite sandwiches to welded steel structures using adhesives. These composite structures reduced the weight of the vertical and horizontal slides by 34% and 26%, respectively, and increased damping by 1.5 to 5.7 times without sacrificing the stiffness. Without much tuning, this machine had a positional accuracy of $\pm5\mu\textrm{m}$ per 300 m of the slide displacement.

Structure, Origin, Development and Senescence of Collecters in Nerium indicum Mill. (N. odorum Soland., Apocynaceae)

  • Nerium indicum has adaxial colleters on each petiole, bract, bracteole, calyx and corolla. The colleters are finger-shaped sometimes lobed structures with tall heads on short stalks. The petiolar colleters are more abundant than those on the bract, bracteole, calyx and corolla but their structure is similar. Meristematic activity in a small group of protodermal and hypodermal cells at the base of the developing leaf gives rise to the colleter that further differentiates by frequent anticlinal and periclinal divisions. Many of the colleters are vascullarized, sometimes a layer of redially elongated cells is present beneath the epithelial cells. Senescence of a colleter begins when the leaves have either completed their growth or are still expanding. In senescent colleters, the central cell cytoplasm and nuclei are considerably reduced. Thin layer chromatography of the freshly harvested exudate of colleter shows the presence of rhamnose, glucose and arabinose sugars.

  • There is a risk that the damage caused by frequent earthquakes can lead to the risk of personal injury due to cracks in buildings and collapse of major structures. Although the seismic design of the new building is designed to be reinforced, the existing structure is not exposed to the risk of earthquake. Therefore, it is aimed to develop the steel frame type CFT composite method which can easily reinforce the CFT structural system with excellent seismic performance against the old non - seismic structure.

A Study on Remodeling Method of Library Architecture (도서관건축의 리모델링 수법)

  • This study is to analyze the remodeling method of library in terms of space extension method and urban regeneration by repurposing function in unused facilities through case study. In many case of library extension, horizontal extensions are more frequent than vertical extensions, because there are limits to extend vertically due to high live load estimation by book stacks. Extension schemes was organized by new building extension method in connection with existing buildings, attaching method small scaled mass or linear mass to existing building, connecting method a plurality of existing small buildings, vertical extension method on the top of the structure, underground extension method using special structure. Unused facility remodeling to the library, large scaled buildings can be developed completely to the function of the library through the relocation of the space, while small scaled building needs spatial extension. In the case of spatial extension, existing space that was used for other purposes can be used as a reading room or office, avoiding high live load estimation.

  • A selective reset waveform which can improve the dark room contrast ratio in a large sustain gap structure is suggested in this paper. When conventional selective reset discharge is performed, frequent unexpected misfiring happens because of high Vxb and much quantity of negative wall charge formed on Y electrode during final sustain period. The misfiring between sustain electrode and address electrode can be removed by lowering Vxb value and the misfiring between address electrode and scan electrode can be prevented by applying last sustain pulse of 40us and rectangular pulse of Vscan on Y electrode. When the selective reset waveform has one time reset per 8 subfields, black luminance of 1.55 cd/m2 can be obtained without any misfiring.
