  • In this study, the performance of a 32-quadrature amplitude position modulation (QAPM) system is analyzed under a Rician fading channel condition when the maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity technique is used in the receiver. The fading channel is modeled as a frequency non-selective slow Rician fading channel corrupted by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). QAPM is available to improve BER performance without amplifying transmit power, and MRC diversity makes the performance improvement of QAPM system even bigger by intentionally maximizing SNR. Error performances are shown for the 32-QAPM system and a 32-phase silence shift keying (PSSK) system in order to examine the effects of fading severity, for various values of the Rician parameter, K. The dependence of error rates on MRC diversity is also analyzed. The simulation results show that the BER performance of the 32-QAPM system is better than that of the 32-PSSK system under the above mentioned conditions.

  • The performances of M-ary DPSK(MDPSK) for diversity reception theoretically are derived, using an L-branch selection combining(SC) in frequency-nonselective slow Nakagami fading channels. For integer values of the Nakagami fading parameter m, An exact closed-form symbol error rate(SER) multichannel performance that can be easily evaluated via numerical integration is presented. Finally, we compare these analyses with numerical analyses with integral-form expressions for the performance of MDPSK signals under the effect of two-branch SC diversity over slow and nonselective Rician fading channels with additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN).

  • IEEE 802.11a is a standard for the high-speed wireless local area network (WLAN), supporting from 6 up to 54 Mbps in a 5 GHz band. We propose a channel equalization algerian and a sampling clock recovery algorithm by utilizing the Viterbi decoder output of the IEEE 802.11a WLAN standard. The proposed channel equalizer adaptively compensates channel variations. The proposed system uses re-encoded Viterbi decoder outputs as reference symbols for the adaptation of the channel equalizer. It also extracts sampling phase information with the Viterbi decoder outputs for fine adjustment of the sampling clock. The proposed sampling clock recovery and equalizer are more robust to noise and frequency selective fading environments than conventional systems using only four pilot samples.

  • This paper describes a design of OFDM (Orthogoanl Frequency Division Multiplexing) based wireless LAN system receiver, defined in IEEE 802.11a standards. Because OFDM system uses several orthogonal sequence sets, it ran avoid selective fading of fast data transfer problem when it is used with error correction code. But if the receiver is not synchronized, the orthogonal of between sub-ralliers will be destroyed and the data interruption will be generated. So it makes error property get worse very murk. For improving the noise error, we use the relationship of phasor between sub-carriers and make system synchronization using one tab equalizer. The designed OFDM block is described by Verilog HDL for the efficient and small size hardware. And we preform the functional verification and evaluation using the vector of standards.

  • In this paper, authors have been evaluated the Frame Error Rate (FER) performance of IEEE 802.11 a/g/p standard 5 GHz frequency band WLAN over Rayleigh and Rician distributed fading channels in presence of Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN). Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based transceiver is implemented by using real-time signal processing frameworks (IEEE 802.11 Blocks) in GNU Radio Companion (GRC) and Ettus USRP N200 is used to process the symbol over the wireless radio channel. The FER is calculated for each sub-carrier conventional modulation schemes used by OFDM such as BPSK, QPSK, 16, 64-QAM with different punctuated coding rates. More precise SNR is computed by modifying the SNR calculation process of YANS and NIST error rate model to estimate more accurate FER. Here, real-time signal constellations, OFDM signal spectrums etc. are also observed to find the effect of multipath propagation of signals through flat and frequency selective fading channels. To reduce the error rate due to the multipath fading effect and Doppler shifting, channel estimation (CE) and equalization techniques such as Least Square (LS) and training based adaptive Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm are applied in the receiver. The simulation work is practically verified at GRC by turning into a pair of Software Define Radio (SDR) as a simultaneous transceiver.

  • The average bit error rate (BER) performance of 2D-RAKE receiver, operating in a correlated Nakagami fading channel, is analyzed. The analysis assumes correlated fading between the array elements with identical fading parameters but with unbalanced average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). And independent but non-identically distributed frequency-selective fading channel with different fading parameters is assumed. The analyses show that fading correlation, delay profile, average SNR distribution, and fading parameters of combined branches affect the overall performance of 2D-RAKE receiver.

  • This paper presents a 5.8-㎓ oscillator that uses a novel defected ground structure(DGS), which is etched on the metallic ground plane. As the suggested defected ground structure is the structure for mounting an active device, it is the roles of a feedback loop inducing a negative resistance as well as a frequency-selective circuit. Applying the feedback loop between the drain and the gate of a FET device produces precise phase conversion in the feedback loop. The equivalent circuit parameters of the DGS are extracted by using a three-dimensional EM simulation ,md simple circuit analysis method. In order to demonstrate a new DGS oscillator, we designed the oscillator at 5.8-㎓. The experimental results show 4.17 ㏈m output power with over 22 % dc-to-RF power efficiency and - 85.8 ㏈c/Hz phase noise at 100 KHz offset from the fundamental carrier at 5.81 ㎓.

  • This paper models a symbol timing offset (STO) with respect to the guard period and the maximum access delay time for asynchronous multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) uplink systems over frequency-selective multipath fading channels. Analytical derivation shows that STO causes desired signal power degradation and generates self-interferences. This effect of the STO on the average bit error rate (BER) and the effective signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is evaluated. The approximated BER and the SNR loss caused by STO are then obtained as closed-form expressions. The tightness between the analytical result and the simulated one is verified for the different STOs and SNRs. Furthermore, the derived analytical results are verified via Monte Carlo simulations.

  • In this paper, new polyphase sequences and a sequence generation method are suggested. These sequences are found to have good correlation properties. Since the suggested generation method consists only of integer sums and modular techniques, sequence generation is also easy. The performance of the sequences is investigated when used in QS-CDMA systems under frequency selective, time nonselective, slow Nakagami fading channel with additive white Gaussian noise.

  • This paper is concerned with an improvement on IFFT (inverse fast Fourier transform) and FFT based baseband digital implementation algorithm for BPSK (binary phase shift keying)-modulated MC-CDMA (multicarrier-code division multiple access) systems, that is functionally equivalent to the conventional implementation algorithm, while reducing computational complexity and bandwidth requirement. We also derive an equalizer structure for the proposed implementation algorithm. The proposed algorithm is based on a variant of FFT algorithm that utilizes a N/2-point FFT/IFFT for simultaneous transformation and reconstruction of two N/2-point real signals. The computer simulations under additive white Gaussian noise channels and frequency selective fading channels using equal gain combiner and maximal ratio combiner diversities, demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
