Theoretical considerations on a giant magneto-impedance (GMI) effect in amorphous ribbons (i.e., thin films) have been made in terms of the expressions of effective permeability and impedance derived in the frame of classical electrodynamics and ferromagnetism. The dependence of GMI effect on the external do magnetic field (H$\_$ext/) and the frequency of alternating current are simulated and discussed in the knowledge of energy conversion consisting of the current energy loss, the ferromagnetic energy consumption, and the magnetic energy storage in the film. The obtained results are summarized as follow: (a) As frequency f< 20 ㎒, the real part of effective permeability (${\mu}$′) changes slightly. The peak of the ${\mu}$′curve always locates at H$\_$ext/=H$\_$ani/ - the anisotropy field. However, the peak value of ${\mu}$′ tends to increase with increasing frequency in the frequency range of 11-20 ㎒. (b) In the frequency range, f= 21-23 ㎒, a negative peak additionally appears. Meanwhile, both the positive and negative peak values rapidly increase with increasing frequency and their peak positions shift towards a high H$\_$ext/. (c) The positive peak value of ${\mu}$′ starts to decrease at f= 29 ㎒ and its negative peak does so at about 35 ㎒. Then, both peaks keep such a tendency and their peak positions move to high H$\_$ext/, as increasing frequency. (d) The dependence of the imaginary part of effective permeability (${\mu}$") on the external dc magnetic field and the frequency of the alternating field indicates that there is only one peak involved in ${\mu}$" for the whole frequency range. (e) The impedance vs. magnetic field curves at various frequencies show that there is a critical value of frequency around f= 18-19 ㎒ where the transition between two frequency regimes occurs; the one (low frequency) in which ${\mu}$′ predominantly contributes to the GMI effect and the other (high frequency) in which ${\mu}$" determines the GMI effect.

Optical frequency comb generators have been investigated as a signal source capable of generating highly stabilized ultrafast pulse lasers. The precise control of the optical frequency comb spacing by RF clock signals has led to a revolutionary paradigm shift in the precise measurement of time and frequency. Optical frequency combs also have advantages such as stable frequency spacing, stable number of lines, and robustness. Owing to these characteristics, optical frequency combs have been applied to the fields of high precision optical clock, communication, spectroscopy, waveform generation, and astronomy. In this article, we introduce the properties (i.e., generation methods, advantages, and so on) of various optical frequency combs, and discuss the expected future technological trends and applications.
The aims of this study were to identify (a) the social network contact frequency of the elderly with children, relatives, and friends; (b) the impact of contact frequency (face-to-face/non-face-to-face) on life satisfaction of the elderly; and (c) the moderating effect of digital capabilities of the elderly on the relationship between social contact frequency and life satisfaction. Data were obtained from the National Survey of Older Koreans 2020. The sample comprised 6,119 adults aged 65+ who were in single or couple households. The principal findings were as follows. First, couple households, higher levels of education, and better health status increased life satisfaction of the elderly. Second, the higher the frequency of face-to-face contact with children and the higher the frequency of non-face-to-face contact with friends, the more positive the effect on life satisfaction of the elderly. Third, the interaction effect of the digital capabilities of the elderly differed according to children, relatives and friends. There was a significant and positive moderating effect on the relationship between life satisfaction and the frequency of face-to-face/non-face-to-face contact with children and the frequency of face-to-face contact with relatives. Conversely, there was a significant negative effect on the relationship between life satisfaction and the frequency of face-to-face/non-face-to-face contact with friends. By examining the impact of non-face-to-face contact on life satisfaction of the elderly in the era of digital transformation, the findings have significance in that they provide basic data to support policies and education programs aimed at improving the digital capabilities of the elderly.

Although it was recently observed that severe fatigue damage was formed in Al or Cu interconnects due to the cyclic temperatures generated by Joule heating of the metal lines by the passage of alternating currents (AC), AC loading frequency effect on the damage evolution characteristics are not known so far. This work focused on the effect of AC loading frequency (100 Hz vs. 10 kHz) on the thermo-mechanical fatigue characteristics by using polycrystalline sputtered Cu lines with temperature cycles with amplitudes from 100 to $300^{\circ}C$. It was consistently observed that higher loading frequency accelerated damaged grain growth and led to earlier failure irrespective of Cu grain sizes. The frequency effect is believed to result from differences in the concentration of defects created by the deformation-induced motion of dislocations to the grain boundaries.

In this paper, we have analyzed the curvature effects of the finite FSS(frequency selective surface) using the 3-D method of moment using the BiCGSTab algorithm as an iterative method. To validate the analysis method in this paper, we compared the RCS(radar cross section) of PEC(perfect electric conductor) sphere with theoretical results and it shows well agreements. The tripole slot FSSs which have many application in military were selected for the investigation of curvature effect and RCS as a frequency characteristics were observed with the variation of the curvature rate. Simulation results shows that curvature effect can significant effect the passband frequency and bandwidth of FSS. We suggest that the curvature effect must be considered at the stage of design FSS application like FSS radome.
We investigated whether the first syllable plays an important role in lexical access in Korean visual word recognition. To do so, one lexical decision task (LDT) and two form primed LDT experiments examined the nature of the syllabic neighborhood effect. In Experiment 1, the syllabic neighborhood density and the syllabic neighborhood frequency was manipulated. The results showed that lexical decision latencies were only influenced by the syllabic neighborhood frequency. The purpose of experiment 2 was to confirm the results of experiment 1 with form-primed LDT task. The lexical decision latency was slower in form-related condition compared to form-unrelated condition. The effect of syllabic neighborhood density was significant only in form-related condition. This means that the first syllable plays an important role in the sub-lexical process. In Experiment 3, we conducted another form-primed LDT task manipulating the number of syllabic neighbors in words with higher frequency neighborhood. The interaction of syllabic neighborhood density and form relation was significant. This result confirmed that the words with higher frequency neighborhood are more inhibited by neighbors sharing the first syllable than words with no higher frequency neighborhood in the lexical level. These findings suggest that the first syllable is the unit of neighborhood and the unit of representation in sub-lexical representation is syllable in Korea.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a segmentation unit for a Korean noun is a 'syllable' and whether the process of segmenting spoken words occurs at the lexical level. A syllable monitoring task was administered which required participants to detect an auditorily presented target from visually presented words. In Experiment 1, syllable neighborhood density of high frequency words which can be segmented into both CV-CVC and CVC-VC were controlled. The syllable effect and the neighborhood density effect were significant, and the syllable effect emerged differently depending on the syllable neighborhood density. Similar results were obtained in Experiment 2 where low frequency words were used. The significance of word frequency effect on syllable effect was also examined. The results of Experiments 1 and 2 indicated that the segmentation unit for a Korean noun is indeed a 'syllable', and this process can occur at the lexical level.
Unlike most other alphabetic languages, letter transposition effect was not found in Korean except in the syllable level and in the morpheme level. This study was conducted in order to investigate the possible reason of the absence of letter transposition effect in Korean. Based on previous letter transposition studies, this study was to investigate on whether syllable frequency is a moderating variable and is responsible for the absence of the letter transposition effect. The results showed that significant letter transposition effect was found when a transposed non-word has high frequency syllable(e.g., 민주화 → 진무화), while such effect was not seen in a transposed non-word with low frequency syllable. The results showed that the letter transposition effect can found in Korean as well. The results also implicate the possibility that syllable frequency is the main moderating variable regarding the Korean letter transposition effect.
Objective : Zusanli(ST36) and Hoku(Li4) are analgesic acupuncture points frequently used for acupuncture in Oriental medicine. The present study was conducted to see the antinociceptive effects produced by electroacupuncture combined two frequencies(Low, High) and two different acupuncture points(LI4, ST36) in the rat tail flick test. Method : In this study the Rats (Sprague-Dawley, 250-300g) were partially anesthetized with thiopental sodium(40mg/kg, i.p.). The basal reaction time for the tail-flick was 3${\pm}$0.5 sec. Low frequency(3Hz, 5V, biphasic) and high frequency(100Hz, 5V, biphasic) were applied to the inserted needle for the period of insertion(twenty minutes). Experimental groups are divied as follow; a) electroacupuncture stimulation groups at Hoku with or high frequency(L-EA, H-EA), b) electroacupuncture stimulation groups at Zusanli with low or high frequency(1-EA, h-EA), c) low frequency at Hoku and Zusanli(LIEA), d) low frequency at Hoku and high frequency at Zusanli(LhEA), e) high frequency at Hoku and low frequency at Zusanli(HIEA), f) high frequency at Hoku and Zusanli(HhEA) Results : The individual stimulation at either Hoku or Zusanli with low frequency has stronger and longer analgesic effect than high frequency stimulation. In addition, the combined stimulation at Hoku and Zusanli with low frequency has superior effect to individual stimulation with low frequency. LhEA and LIEA have superior effect to other stimulation groups among the combined groups. In order to determine the involvement of opioid system on the different antinociceptive effects, Naloxone, an opioid antagonist, was used in the combined groups. LIEA is the most sensitive when naloxone was administrated among study groups. HhEA is the least sensitive in the administration of naloxone. Conclusion : From results, this study confirmed that the opioid system is involved in analgesic effect of low frequency stimulation of acupuncture point, and we also can suggest the stronger analgesic effect of combining stimulation points is due to the theory of spatial summation in the nervous system.

This study deals the prediction of temperature effect on low-frequency dispersion of alternating current (AC) conductivity spectra of composite materials based on copolymer reinforced with carbon black (CB) particles. A sample of ethylene butylacrylate loaded with 13% of CB particles were prepared and investigated using the impedance spectroscopy representation in the frequency range from 40 Hz to 0.1 MHz and temperature range from $20^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$. The dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}^{\prime}$, and dielectric losses, ${\varepsilon}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$, were found to decrease with increasing frequency. The frequency dependence of the AC conductivity follows the universal power law with a large deviation in the high frequency region, the positive temperature coefficient in resistivity effect has been observed below the melting temperature which makes this composite potentially remarkable for industrial applications.
