  • Axial fans are widely used in household electrical appliances due to their easy usage and high flow rate for cooling capacity. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of serious problems. In order to calculate the noise of a fan, we develop the software IFD - Intranet Fans Design. With this software we can design, analysis the performance and predict the noise of fan. The prediction model, which allowed the calculation of acoustic pressure at the blade passing frequency and it's higher harmonic frequencies, has been developed by Lowson's equation. To calculate the unsteady resultant force of the blade, time-marching free-wake method is used. The objective of this study is to calculate the effects of number of blades, rotating velocity, and sweep angle on the noise of fan..

  • Abnormal cab vibrations in the Y direction in commercial vehicles during driving(70~90kph) are not common vibrations that happen to vehicles during driving and can be an obstacle to normal driving. This study conducted Operation Deflection Shape(ODS) testing to identify the causes of those abnormal cab vibrations and find solutions for them and also a sine sweep test to find resonance and frequency in the cab suspension system and set directions for improvement. The study also altered the shape of the bush inner part for changes to the rigidity features of the cab bush in the Y direction and revised the design with optimal rigidity in the Y direction, thus improving abnormal cab vibrations in the Y direction during driving.

  • A frequency synthesizer of 10 GHz $\sim$ 11 GHz for FMCW radar is designed and implemented by the form of indirect frequency synthesizer of a single loop structure. The synthesizer uses a high speed digital PLL chip. It is difficult to divide directly by using a program counter of PLL chip because the output frequency of VCO is 10 GHz $\sim$ 11 GHz, so we lower the frequency to 625 MHz $\sim$ 687.5 MHz by using a prescaler, and then divide the frequency by the program counter. The output frequency sweep of VCO from 10 GHz to 11 GHz is measured.

  • In this paper, ultra-wideband frequency synthesizer which operates at S-band ($2{\sim}4GHz$) is designed. Designed frequency synthesizer shows the frequency range of $2.2{\sim}4.0GHz$ and output power of $-2{\sim}3dBm$. Phase noise characteristics are measured below -92.0dBc/hz at 100kHz offset frequency in entire sweep range and lock time is measured below 3.55ms. Spurious level is below -62.33dBc at comparison frequency of 1MHz.

  • During handling unitized products, they are subjected to a variety of environmental hazards. Shock and vibration hazards are generally considered the most damaging of the environmental hazards on a product and it may encounter while passing through the distribution environment. A major cause of shock damage to products is drops during manual handling. The increasing use of unitization of pallets has been resulted in a reduction of the shock hazards. This has caused an increasing interest in research focused on vibration caused dam age. Damage to the product by the vibration most often occurs when a product or a product component has a natural frequency that falls within the range of the forcing frequencies of the particular mode of transportation being used. Transportation vibration is also a major cause of fruit and vegetable quality loss due to mechanical damage. This study was conducted to determine the vibration characteristics of the corrugated fiberboard bones for packages of pears, and to investigate the degree of vibration injury of the pears in the boxes during the simulated transportation environment. The vibration tests were performed on an electrohydraulic vibration exciter. The input acceleration to exciter was fixed at 0.25 G for a single container resonance test and 0.5 G for the vertical stacked container over the frequency range from 3 to 100 Hz. Function generator (HP-33120A) was connected by wire to the vibration exciter for controlling the input acceleration at a continuous logarithmic sweep rate of 1.0 octave per min. The peak frequency and acceleration on the single box test were 22.02 Hz, 1.5425 G respectively, and these values on the vertical stacked boxes were observed from the bottom box 19.02, 18.14, 16.62 and 15.40 Hz and 2.2987, 3.7654. 5.6087, and 7.9582 G, respectively. The pear in the bottom box had a slightly higher damage level than the fruit packed in the other stacked boxes. It is desirable that the package and transportation system has to be so designed that 15∼20 Hz frequency will not occur during the transportation environment.

  • The performance of underwater acoustic communication is greatly affected by multipath propagation and Doppler spread. This paper proposes a new communication technique, the Triangle Spread Carrier (TSC) technique, by modifying the existing Sweep Spread Carrier (SSC) technique that is strong in a multipath propagation environment. The proposed TSC technique is a form in which the up-chirp and down-chirp signals have repeated carriers, and each correlation function characteristic is used to estimate and correct the Doppler shift frequency of the receiving signal. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed TSC technique, we present the results of simulations using underwater channel simulators and sea trial conducted in the East Sea. When demodulating using only the estimated Doppler shift frequency as a result of the sea trial, the uncoded bit error rate was up to 0.194, but when the proposed method was applied, the uncoded bit error rate was reduced to 0.001.

  • This paper is to investigate how partial discharge pulse signal can flow in 6.6㎸ motor stator windings. Pulse propagation is experimentally analyzed in stator windings using a variety of frequency-domain techniques. The experiments were performed on two stator windings in the laboratory. Spectrum analyzer(9KHz to 3㎓) with tracking generator(100kHz to 3㎓) was used. Sweep time of the tracking generator was looms. The frequency spectrum of the response signal was detected by active FET probe(1㎓). The active FET probe has a flat amplitude response up to 1㎓ without high frequency attenuation. The stator winding acts as a low-pass filter below 600KHz, the high-frequency components being highly declined. The resonance peaks show about 1.1MHz and 2MHz in low frequency of No. 1 and No. 2 stator windings, respectively. This low-frequency range indicates that attenuation is low. The peaks of partial discharge magnitude show about 900MHz, 1.6MHz in No. 1 stator winding and about 800KHz, 1.4MHz in No. 2 stator winding.

  • In this paper, we suggest a method for discretized frequency modulations of ultrasonic signals. A continuous sweep of frequency modulation signals can be modelled with fine levels of discretization. If the ultrasound signals are modulated with monotonically decreasing frequencies, then the cross-correlation between an emitted signal and received signal can be used to identify the distance of multiple target objects. For the discretized frequency synthesis, CF ultrasounds with different frequencies are serially ordered. The auto-correlation test with the signal shows effective results for distance estimation. The discretized frequency syntheses have better distance resolution than CF ultrasound signals and the resolution depends on the number of the combined ultrasound frequencies.

  • Most of the studies use model order reduction for low frequency (LF) response analysis due to their high computational efficiency. In LF response analysis, one of model order reduction, algebraic substructuring (AS) retains all LF modes when using the modal superposition. However, in mid-frequency (MF) response analysis, the LF modes make very little contribution and also increase the number of retained modes, which leads to loss of computational efficiency. Therefore, MF response analysis should consider low truncated modes to improve the computational efficiency. The current work is focused on improving the computational efficiency using a AS and a frequency sweep algorithm. Finite element simulation for a MEMS resonator array showed that the performance of the presented method is superior to a conventional method.
