  • The function of DIRCM(Directed Infrared Countermeasures) jamming is to cause the missile to miss its intended target by disturbing the seeker tracking process. The DIRCM jamming uses the pulsing flashes of IR energy and its frequency, phase and intensity have influence on the missile guidance system. In this paper, we analysis the DIRCM jamming effect of spin-scan reticle seeker. Simulation results show that the jamming effect is greatly influenced by frequency, phase and intensity of the jammer signal.

  • In this paper, the correction method of antenna beam direction errors is introduced which caused by frequency scan effect in active Phased may antenna for satellite communications. The antenna makes the beam directional error from frequency scan effect when it has dual beam may structure with asymmetrical series connection, their frequencies are different and for from each other, their 3dB beamwidth is narrow, and scan range is wide. By proposed equations, estimated beam direction error angles can be calculated and active phase shifter control values also can be calculated to compensate them. In this paper, the active phased array antenna system was fabricated to measure beam direction errors both before and after correction, which has dual beam from 32${\times}$4 main level array and 4${\times}$2 second level array, frequency deviation 500 MHz max.(6.7 %) at 7.25 GHz∼7.75 GHz ranges, 0$^{\circ}$${\pm}$35$^{\circ}$nm ranges, and 35.6 dBi gain with 2.2$^{\circ}$3 dB beam width. Its beam direction error by frequency san effect which was 2.5$^{\circ}$max., was reduced to 0.2$^{\circ}$max. after correction. This was 7 dB improvement of signal loss. The active phased array antenna can accurately track the target satellite for communications by this proposed correction method.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of ablation processing of the eagle glass by pico-second laser are investigated. The laser ablation is used to process micro forms on materials. The ablation causes little thermal effect and little burr on the surface of eagle glass. In order to examine the characteristics of panic cracks, experiments are conducted under various cutting conditions such as a frequency of 600 kHz, laser powers, scan speeds and number of scan(NS). To minimize the panic cracks, the specimens are heated at $30^{\circ}C$, $45^{\circ}C$, and $60^{\circ}C$ for ten minutes respectively and then they are broken by hands. Laser powers, NS and scan speeds have an effect on glass cutting results. The ablation depths increase with an increase in the laser power and NS whereas the panic cracks decrease with an increase in scan speed. The high temperature on processed specimens reduces the panic cracks and makes good results of laser cutting. The optimal condition for eagle glass laser cutting is found to be at 30 W of laser power, 3 mm/s of scan speed and 500 of NS, respectively.

  • Since well-calibrated satellite data is critical for their applications, calibration and validation of COMS science data was one of the key activities during the IOT. COMS MI radiometric calibration process was divided into two phases according to the out-gassing of the sensor: calibrations of the visible (VI) and infrared (IR) channels. Different from the VIS calibration, the calibration steps for the IR channels followed additional processes to secure their radiometric performances. Primary calibration steps of the IR were scan mirror emissivity correction, midnight effect compensation, slope averaging and 1/f noise compensation after a nominal calibration. First, the scan mirror emissivity correction was conducted to compensate the variability of the scan mirror emissivity driven by the coating material on the scan mirror. Second, the midnight effect correction was performed to remove unreasonable high spikes of the slope values caused by the excessive radiative sources during the local midnight. After these steps, the residual (difference between the previous slope and the given slope) was filtered by a smoothing routine to eliminate the remnant random noises. The 1/f noise compensation was also carried out to filter out the lower frequency noises caused from the electronics in the Imager. With through calibration processes during the entire IOT period, the calibrated IR data showed excellent performances.

  • When a patient takes an MRI scan, the patient has a risk of unexpected injuries due to the intensive electromagnetic (EM) field. Among the injuries, the tissue heating by the time-varying EM field is one of the main issues. Since an implanted artificial structure with a conductive material aggravates the heating effect, lots of studies have been conducted to investigate the effect around the implants. In this review article, a mechanism of RF heating around the implants and related studies are comprehensively investigated.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of oral health education with Q-scan for preschool children. The 59 children were divided into two groups, one with Q-scan and the other with dentiform, and they were evaluated by interview questionnaire and measurement of dental plaque index using Quigley-Hein index. Using SPSS ver. 18.0 for statistical analysis, paired t-test and Independent t-test were carried out for dental plaque index change and chi-square independence test for change between before and after oral health education. The result of this study revealed that the dental plaque index of the children showed significant decrease of 12% more in the experimental group (p<0.001). Both groups showed significant difference in knowledge about fluorine (p<0.05) and the percentage of correct answers showed significant increase in questions about bad food for teeth (p<0.05). In attitude toward oral health, the experimental group showed significant difference in every variable (p<0.05), and the control group showed significant difference in regular oral examination and frequency of toothbrushing (p<0.05). The experimental group showed significant result (p<0.05) with increase in the percentage of correct answers for the question about how to hold a toothbrush and decrease in the percentage of correct answers for the question about how to apply toothpaste, while the control group did not show significant difference in any variable. Therefore, Q-scan as an appropriate tool for motivation, provides effective educational methods in oral health education.

  • Long time ultrasound scan can cause a temperature rise in human tissue and affect the physical body. This is closely connected with patients' safety. So many researchers have been studied on this matter with animals such as mammals and experimental rat, because diagnostic ultrasound has been used many types of human organ to find disease. Therefore, this study is tested on bean sprouts to search how far the tissue temperature changes because of the excessive scanning consequence from ultrasound diagnosis and frequent number of ultrasonic scanning and how much affect their growth. The United States and several European countries have restrictions for number of scanning, while South Korea does not have any limitation for using ultrasound diagnosis. Comparison was that how different condition affect its' growing. The testing group is like many pregnancy moms to have 50 minutes in B-mode and color doppler mode by linear, convex and sector probe every day for a week and the other is to scan only once during the testing period. As a result, it was confirmed that there was a significant growing difference on frequent ultrasonic scanning group compared to normal one. So the final conclusion is that there needs to have a significant limitation of ultrasound scan time and a number of inspection when having for diagnostic ultrasound and recommendation like USA and a few European countries.

  • In-rich InGaN epilayers were grown on (0001) sapphire substrates by radio-frequency plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (RF-MBE). InGaN epilayers grown at various growth condition were observed by SEM, XRD, and RHEED. When plasma power of nitrogen increased from 290 to 350 W, surface morphology and crystal quality became worse according to more active nitrogen on the surface of InGaN at N-rich growth condition. As In composition was reduced from 89 to 71% by changing the incoming flux of In and Ga, surface morphology and crystal quality became worse. In addition, weak peaks of cubic InGaN phase was observed from InGaN layer with 71% In composition by XRD ${\Phi}$ scan measurement. When growth temperature decreased from 500 to $400^{\circ}C$, RHEED diffraction pattern was changed to be from streaky to spotty which means atomically rough surface, and spotty pattern showed cubic symmetry of InGaN clearly. XRD ${\Phi}$ scan measurement gave clear evidence that more cubic InGaN phase was formed at low growth temperature. All these results indicates that extremely low surface mobility of Ga adatom caused inferior crystal quality and cubic InGaN phase.
