농촌지역 독거노인의 식이패턴과 지역사회치주지수와의 관련성 (The Relationship Between Dietary Pattern and the Community Periodontal Index in Elderly People Living Alone in Rural Areas)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between dietary pattern and the Community Periodontal Index in elderly people who live alone in rural areas and to provide necessary data to strengthen nutrition education about the oral health of elderly people who live alone. Methods : Dental examinations and questionnaires were conducted with 380 elderly people who live alone in rural areas of Gyeonggi-do. Results : The Community Periodontal Index was higher when the elderly people who live alone had a low intake of vegetables and fruits, a high intake of sugars, a low number of breakfasts, a high frequency of overeating and a high frequency of instant ingestion. Conclusions : It is necessary to provide nutritional management services for the elderly people who live alone in rural areas and to provide preventive centered comprehensive oral care.

  • In this study, a novel group-indexed orthogonal frequency division multiplexing index modulation (OFDM-IM) scheme is proposed to achieve a tradeoff between spectral efficiency (SE) and bit-error-rate (BER) performance. In the proposed scheme, the total subcarriers in a group are divided into subgroups, and additional bits are transmitted by subgroup indexing, unlike the conventional OFDM-IM scheme, which uses index bits to select active subcarriers. With the proposed scheme, the additional degree of freedom provided by the number of active subgroups selected provides a tradeoff between spectral efficiency and BER performance. Decoding is performed in steps to reduce computional complexity in the decoder design. Simulaton results show that the number of active subgroups selected influences the proposed scheme's performance in terms of energy efficiency, spectral efficiency, and BER performance.

Application of rock mass index in the prediction of mine water inrush and grouting quantity

  • The permeability coefficient is an essential parameter for the study of seepage flow in fractured rock mass. This paper discusses the feasibility and application value of using readily available RQD (rock quality index) data to estimate mine water inflow and grouting quantity. Firstly, the influence of different fracture frequencies on permeability in a unit area was explored by combining numerical simulation and experiment, and the relationship between fracture frequencies and pressure and flow velocity at the monitoring point in fractured rock mass was obtained. Then, the stochastic function generation program was used to establish the flow analysis model in fractured rock mass to explore the relationship between flow velocity, pressure and analyze the universal law between fracture frequency and permeability. The concepts of fracture width and connectivity are introduced to modify the permeability calculation formula and grouting formula. Finally, based on the on-site grouting water control example, the rock mass quality index is used to estimate the mine water inflow and the grouting quantity. The results show that it is feasible to estimate the fracture frequency and then calculate the permeability coefficient by RQD. The relationship between fracture frequency and RQD is in accordance with exponential function, and the relationship between structure surface frequency and permeability is also in accordance with exponential function. The calculation results are in good agreement with the field monitoring results, which verifies the rationality of the calculation method. The relationship between the rock mass RQD index and the rock mass permeability established in this paper can be used to invert the mechanical parameters of the rock mass or to judge the permeability and safety of the rock mass by using the mechanical parameters of the rock mass, which is of great significance to the prediction of mine water inflow and the safety evaluation of water inrush disaster management.

강수지표를 이용한 남·북한 강수특성 비교 (Comparison of Precipitation Characteristics using Rainfall Indicators Between North and South Korea)

  • 본 연구는 남 북한에서 시 공간적 강수특성 변화를 이해하고자, 남한 65개 기상청 관측소에서 1963년부터 2010년까지, 북한 27개 관측소에서 1973년부터 2010년까지 측정된 일 강수량 자료를 분석했다. 총량(Amount), 극치(Extremes)와 빈도(Frequency)를 나타내는 지표들을 선정하였고, 각각의 지표를 RIA (Rainfall Index for Amount), RIE (Rainfall Index for Extremes), RIF (Rainfall Index for Frequency)로 정의하였다. 남 북한 행정구역별로 2000년까지 평균 지표 값과 2001년부터 2010년까지 최근 10년 평균 지표 값을 비교하였다. 과거에 비해 최근 10년간 남한은 연중 강우일수를 나타내는 NWD (Number of Wet Days)와, 200년 빈도 강수량을 나타내는 Freq200 (200-yr Frequency Rainfall)을 제외한 SDW (Annual mean daily rainfall over wet-days), TotalDR (Annual Total Rainfall Amount), Prcp50 (Annual number of wet days over 50 mm/day), Prcp80 (Annual number of wet days over 80 mm/day), CWD (Annual maximum number of consecutive wet-days), AMDR (Annual maximum daily rainfall), 그리고 R3day (Annual maximum 3-days rainfall total) 값들이 모두 증가한 양상을 보였지만 북한은 SDW와, 연총강우량 TotalDR을 제외하곤 모두 감소하였다. 또한 연평균 지표 값의 경향성을 확인하기 위해 통계적 방법인 Mann-Kendall 검정을 실시하였다. 과거 감소의 경향을 나타내던 각 관측지점이 최근에 이르러서는 경향성의 역전 되는 현상을 보인 곳이 나타났으며, 이는 평균값만을 바탕으로 강수사상 특성변화를 분석하는 방법의 한계점으로 볼 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 한반도 물 관리 기후변화에 대한 영향 분석과 대응 대책 마련에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This study proposes phonation type index k as a descriptor of the overall spectral tilt, which is free from the effects of fundamental frequency and vowel quality. The newly proposed phonation type index k presents a simple and single measure of the overall spectral tilt. Phonation type index k can be applied to speech technology. It can also be used in diagnosing patients voice qualities in speech pathology. The distribution of phonation type index k, which is speaker-dependent, may be useful in forensic phonetics and voice recognition as an indicator of speaker identity.

경기지역 일부 초등학생의 비만도에 따른 급식 만족도 및 급식을 남기는 행동에 관한 연구 (Effect of obesity on the Satisfaction with School Lunches and the Behavior of Leaving Lunch Food in Elementary School Children)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of obesity on the satisfaction with school lunches and school lunch leftovers of elementary school children in the Kyeonggi area. The study was carried out on 235 children(male : 111, female :124) in December of 2000. The results are summarized as follows. A Rohrer index was used to define obesity. The proportions of severe underweight, underweight, normal, overweight, and obese were 0.9%, 16.6%, 57.9%,17.0%, and 7.7% respectively. For the data analysis, the subjects were divided into 3 groups : an underweight group(Rohrer index 109 including severe underweight), a normal group(Rohrer index 110-140), and an obese group(Rohrer index 141 including overweight). With regard to the satisfaction with school lunches, the proportions of children who were satisfied, neutral, and unsatisfied were 27.2%, 59.6% and 13.2% respectively. The proportion of the satisfaction with school lunches was significantly higher in the male group than in the female group(p〈0.05), and the proportion of the dissatisfaction with school lunches was significantly increased with obesity index(p〈0.05). The largest proportion of children who were satisfied with school lunches answered they felt hungry(56.3%) and the food tasted good(42.2%). Children sho were not satisfied with school lunches answered that the food was not tasty(93.5%), they did not have ant appetite(9.7%), and others. The children not finishing school lunches(leftovers) occasionally or always were 47.7% of the subjects. The behavior of leaving lunch foods was not significantly related to the gender or the frequency of eating snacks, wile it was positively related with dissatisfaction with school lunches(p〈0.01), obesity index(p〈0.05), and the decreased frequency of eating meals per day(p〈0.01). The reasons of school lunch leftovers were food dislikes(67.9%), excess of quantity(39.3%), tastelessness(31.3%), poor appetite(13.4%), and other. The children eating meals twice, 3 times, and 4 times per day were 18.7%, 74.9%, and 6.4% of the subjects respectively. The proportions of the obese and the satisfaction with school lunches were not changed significantly according to the frequency of eating meals, while the proportion of children leaving school lunches was significantly higher in the group of eating meals twice per day than in the other groups(p〈0.01). The frequency of eating snacks was not related to the obesity index, the proportion of school lunch leftovers, or the frequency of eating meals, while the proportion of satisfaction with school lunches was significantly higher in the group of eating snacks 1-2 times per day than in the other groups(p〈0.01). In conclusion, it is necessary to have children enjoy school lunches with efforts to improve the food´s taste in the school food services and to reexamine the serving sizes for the children, in addition to the nutrition education for the children to eat a variety of foods.

긍정 및 부정감성 음향이 감성스타일이 서로 다른 집단의 심장박동율변동성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Positive and Negative Affective Sounds on the Heart Rate Variability in different Affective Styles)

  • To inspect how the different sensitivities in BAS (or BIS) moderate on the HRV pattern stimulated by positive or negative affective sound, we measured the electrocardiogram (ECG) of 25 students, consisted of 4 groups depending on the BAS (or BIS) sensitivity, while listening music or being exposed to noise. The power spectral density of HRV was derived from the ECG, and the power of HRV was calculated for 3 major frequency ranges (low frequency [LF], medium frequency [MF], and high frequency [HF]). We found that the index MF/(LF+HF), while listening music, was 20 % higher in the individuals with a low BIS but high BAS than in the individuals with a low sensitivity In both BIS and BAS. Moreover, in the former group this index was 30 % higher while listening music than while being exposed to noise. From these results we suggest that individuals with a low BIS but high BAS be more sensitive to positive affective stimuli than other groups, and the index MF/(LF+HF) be applicable to evaluate positive affects.

A new index based on short time fourier transform for damage detection in bridge piers

  • Research on damage detection methods in structures began a few decades ago with the introduction of methods based on structural vibration frequencies, which, of course, continues to this day. The value of important structures, on the one hand, and the countless maintenance costs on the other hand, have led researchers to always try to identify more accurate methods to diagnose damage to structures in the early stages. Among these, one of the most important and widely used methods in damage detection is the use of time-frequency representations. By using time-frequency representations, it is possible to process signals simultaneously in the time and frequency domains. In this research, the Short-Time Fourier transform, a known time-frequency function, has been used to process signals and identify the system. Besides, a new damage index has been introduced to identify damages in concrete piers of bridges. The proposed method has relatively simple calculations. To evaluate the method, the finite element model of an existing concrete bridge was created using as-built details. Based on the results, the method identifies the damages with high accuracy.
