Design of a Vibration Absorber for an Elastically Suspended Rigid Body (단일 진동체의 진동 흡진기 설계 기법)

  • A new design methodology is presented for the multi-degree-of-freedom vibration absorber for an elastically suspended rigid body with planes of symmetry in general motion. Unlike the common single degree-of-freedom vibration absorber, the presented methodology makes use of both linear and rotational properties of the absorber. It is suggested that an absorber is designed separately for the in-plane and out-of-plane vibration modes and thereby combined the two cases for a six-degree-of-freedom absorber. The nine possible design methods are suggested for the six-degree-of-freedom absorber when an elastically suspended rigid body has one, two, or three planes of symmetry.

  • Recently, two degrees of freedom PID control systems have attracted attention, because of their better process control quality for both set point variable tracking and disturbance resistivity than that of conventional PID control systems. This paper describes a new auto-tuning method for the two degrees of freedom PID control system based on a newly developed model matching method in the frequency domain. This new method has been introduced into a two degrees of freedom PID auto-tuning controller, named AdTune TOSDIC-21D8. The superior features of the controller and the results of field tests Are presented.

Serendipity and bubble plus hierarchic finite elements for thin to thick plates

  • In this paper we deal with the numerical solution of the Reissner-Mindlin plate problem with the use of high order finite elements. In previous papers we have solved the problem using approximation spaces of Serendipity type, in order to minimize the number of internal degrees of freedom. Since further numerical experiences have evidenced that the addition of bubble functions improved the quality of the results we have modified the previous family of hierarchic finite elements, adding internal degrees of freedom, to make a systematic analysis of their performance. Of course, more degrees of freedom are introduced. Nonetheless the numerical results indicate that the reduction of the error outnumbers the increase of degrees of freedom and therefore bubble plus elements are preferable.

  • The method of designing robust two degree of freedom(2 DOF) controllers for linear systems with parameter uncertainties and unmodeled dynamics is presented in this paper. Robust performance condition that accounts for robust model matching of closed loop system and disturbance rejection is derived. Using the robust performance condition, the feedback controller is designed to meet robust stability and disturbance rejection specifications, while prefilter is used to improve the robust model matching properties. The $H^{\infty}$ and $\mu$ controller for six degree of freedom vehicle with parameter variations are designed and compared. Simulations for hydrodynamic parameter variations and disturbance are presented to demonstrate the achievement of good robust performance.

  • In this paper, a compact, light-weight, universal, spherical 3-degree-of-freedom, parallel-structured manual controller with high reflecting-force capability is implemented. First, the position analysis, kinematic modeling and analysis, force reflecting transformation, and applied force control schemes for a parallel structured 3 degree-of-freedom spherical system have been described. Then, a brief description of the system integration, its actual implementation hardware, and its preliminary analysis results are presented. The implemented parallel 3 degree-of-freedom spherical module is equipped with high gear-ratio reducers, and the friction due to the reducers is minimized by employing a force control algorithm, which results in a "power steering" effect for enhanced smoothness and transparency (for compactness and reduced weight).d weight).

Effects of Drilling Degrees of Freedom in the Finite Element Modeling of P- and SV-wave Scattering Problems

  • This paper deals with a hybrid finite element method for wave scattering problems in infinite domains. Scattering of waves involving complex geometries, in conjunction with infinite domains is modeled by introducing a mathematical boundary within which a finite element representation is employed. On the mathematical boundary, the finite element representation is matched with a known analytical solution in the infinite domain in terms of fields and their derivatives. The derivative continuity is implemented by using a slope constraint. Drilling degrees of freedom at each node of the finite element model are introduced to make the numerical model more sensitive to the transverse component of the elastodynamic field. To verify the effects of drilling degrees freedom and slope constraints individually, reflection of normally incident P and SV waves on a traction free half spaces is considered. For the P-wave incidence, the results indicate that the use of slope constraint is more effective because it suppresses artificial reflection at the mathematical boundary. For the SV-wave case, the use of drilling degrees freedom is more effective by reducing numerical error at irregular frequencies.

  • The main aim of this paper is to present some results related to asymptotic behavior of distribution functions of random variables of chi-square type $X^2_N={\Sigma}^N_{i=1}\;X^2_i$ with degrees of freedom N, where N is a positive integer-valued random variable independent on all standard normally distributed random variables $X_i$. Two ways for computing the distribution functions of chi-square type random variables with random degrees of freedom are considered. Moreover, some tables concerning considered distribution functions are demonstrated in Appendix.

  • Two problems in the measurement of 6-DOF head vibration in very low frequency range were investigated in this study. One is how much error was involved in the estimation of three rotational and three translational motion at any specified point from measured 6 translational accelerations. The other is quantitative and qualitative influence of gravity on DC and AC component of the estimated accelerations in 6 degree of freedom, which were derived from pick-ups fixed on a helmet. In the study the effect of nonlinear terms on the estimation of 6 degree of freedom accelerations was negligible but gravity effect must be considered carefully.

  • Two degrees of freedom resonant systems are employed to improve the resonant property of resonant sensor, as compared to a single degree of freedom resonant system. This paper presents design, development and testing of two degrees of freedom resonant sensor. To measure absolute mass, cantilever shaped two different masses (smaller/absorber mass and bigger/drive mass) with identical resonant frequency are mechanically linked to form 2 - Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) resonator which exhibits higher amplitude of displacement at the smaller mass. The same concept is extended for measuring differential quantity, by having two bigger mass and one smaller mass. The main features of this work are the 3 - DOF resonator for differential detection and the microcontroller based closed loop electronics for resonant sensor with piezoelectric sensing and excitation. The advantage of using microcontroller is that the method can be easily extended for any range of measurand.

  • SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) has been highlighted for a next generation electric drive for electric vehicles. ISO 26262 FOI(Freedom of Interference) is mandatory requirement for an existing SRM driver to be reused as AUTOSAR CDD(Complex Device Driver). Therefore, this research is to provide an ISO 26262 FOI fulfilling method of AUTOSAR CDD SRM driver.
