공구고정부에 점탄성재료 삽입을 통한 채터감소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Chatter Suppression by Inserting Viscoelastic Materials between Tool and Toolpost)

  • 본 연구에서는 이러한 경우를 대상으로 하여, 채터발생의 주원인이 공구가 되도록 돌출길이를 충분히 길게 한 상태에서 공구체결부에 점탄성재료를 삽입하고 채터진동 억제 효과를 검토하였다. 또한 점탄성 재료 삽입으로 인한 공구 고정부의 강성 및 감쇠의 변화를 공구고정부에 대한 유한요소해석(FEA) 및 충격실험 등을 수행 하여 알아보았으며, 정적 강성의 저하로 인해 안정절삭조건에서 발생할 수 있는 정밀 도저하를 검토하여 보았다.

ON ANALYTICAL SOLUTION OF NON LINEAR ROLL EQUATION OF SHIPS

  • Out of all types of motions the critical motions leading to capsize is roll. The dynamic amplification in case of roll motion may be large for ships as roll natural frequency generally falls within the frequency range of wave energy spectrum typical used for estimation of motion spectrum. Roll motion is highly non-linear in nature. Den are various representations of non-linear damping and restoring available in literature. In this paper an uncoupled non-linear roll equations with three representation of damping and cubic restoring term is solved using a perturbation technique. Damping moment representations are linear plus quadratic velocity damping, angle dependant damping and linear plus cubic velocity dependant damping. Numerical value of linear damping coefficient is almost same for all types but non-linear damping is different. Linear and non-linear damping coefficients are obtained form free roll decay tests. External rolling moment is assumed as deterministic with sinusoidal form. Maximum roll amplitude of non-linear roll equation with various representations of damping is calculated using analytical procedure and compared with experimental results, which are obtained form forced tests in regular waves by varying frequency with three wave heights. Experiments indicate influence of non-linearity at resonance frequency. Both experiment and analytical results indicates increase in maximum roll amplitude with wave slope at resonance. Analytical results are compared with experiment results which indicate maximum roll amplitude analytically obtained with angle dependent and cubic velocity damping are equal and difference from experiments with these damping are less compared to non-linear equation with quadratic velocity damping.

  • A series of model tests was carried out to investigate the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) characteristics of a free hanging PVC pipe under forced oscillation conditions. The prescribed displacement with a period and amplitude was forced at the top of the riser. The motion of the riser along its length was measured with underwater cameras in three dimensions. The top-excited responses in the inline direction and vortex-induced vibration in the cross-flow direction were examined in the time and frequency domains. Multi-peak frequencies in the VIV were demonstrated to be strongly dependent upon the Keulegan-Carpenter number, corresponding with the results of Blevin. It was found that the Reynolds numbers (excitation period) was a critical parameter for the dominant VIV characteristics, even under the condition of using the same Keulegan-Carpenter number, under the top-excited condition. In the resonance at the nth natural frequency by the forced-motion induced VIV frequency, the riser responded with a large amplitude and forced frequency, dominantly in the VIV CF direction.

Validation of a 750 kW semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine numerical model with model test data, part II: Model-II

  • Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT) installed in the deep sea regions where stable and strong wind flows are abundant would have significantly improved energy production capacity. When designing FOWT, it is essential to understand the stability and motion performance of the floater. Water tank model tests are required to evaluate these aspects of performance. This paper describes a model test and numerical simulation for a 750-kW semi-submersible platform wind turbine model-II. In the previous model test, the 750-kW FOWT model-I suffered slamming phenomena from extreme wave conditions. Because of that, the platform freeboard of model-II was increased to mitigate the slamming load on the platform deck structure in extreme conditions. Also, the model-I pitch Response Amplitude Operators (RAO) of simulation had strong responses to the natural frequency region. Thus, the hub height of model-II was decreased to reduce the pitch resonance responses from the low-frequency response of the system. Like the model-I, 750-kW FOWT model-II was built with a 1/40 scale ratio. Furthermore, the experiments to evaluate the performance characteristics of the model-II wind turbine were executed at the same location and in the same environment conditions as were those of model-I. These tests included a free decay test, and tests of regular and irregular wave conditions. Both the experimental and simulation conditions considered the blade rotating effect due to the wind. The results of the model tests were compared with the numerical simulations of the FOWT using FAST (Fatigue, Aerodynamics, Structures, and Turbulence) code from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

기분장애 환자의 대뇌 피질 두께 측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Measurement of Cerebral Cortical Thickness in Patients with Mood Disorders)

  • 본 연구는 기분 장애(mood disorder) 환자들과 정상 대조군간의 대뇌 피질 두께를 측정 하여 구조적 이상을 비교하였다. 2020년 9월부터 2022년 8월까지 경상남도 양산 P 병원 정신건강의학과에서 기분 장애 진단을 받은 44명과 이상 병변이 없는 정상인 59명을 대상으로 후향적 연구를 시행하였다. 자기공명영상(MRI) 검사 후 획득한 3D-T1 MPRAGE 영상을 이용하였고, FreeSurfer 소프트웨어를 사용하여 대뇌 피질 두께를 측정하였다. 통계분석은 독립표본 t-검정을 이용하여 두 그룹간 평균의 차이를 측정하고, cohen's d 검정을 통해 두 그룹간 평균 차이의 크기를 평가하였다. 또한, 측정된 평균 피질 두께와 환자의 양성·음성증상(Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, PANSS)간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 기분장애 환자는 정상대조군에 비해 양측 상전두이랑(both superior frontal), 주둥이 중전두이랑(both rostral middle frontal), 꼬리 중전두이랑(both caudal middle frontal), 하전두이랑 주름 세곳(both pars opercularis, pars orbitals, pars triangularis), 상측두이랑(both superior temporal), 하측두이랑(both inferior temporal), 외측안와전두피질(both lateral orbito frontal), 내측안와전두피질(both medial orbito frontal), 방추형이랑(both fusiform), 후대상피질(both posterior cingulate), 대상이랑의 협부(both isthmus cingulate), 상두정수리소엽(both superior parietal), 하두정엽(both inferior parietal), 변연상이랑(both supramarginal), 좌측 후중심이랑(left post central), 우측 상부측두고랑(right bank of the superior temporal sulcus), 중측두이랑(right middle temporal), 전대상피질(right rostral anterior cingulate), 뇌섬엽(right insula)의 두께가 유의미하게 감소하였다(p<0.05). 그 중 평균 차이의 크기(cohen's d)가 큰 영역은 좌측 fusiform (d=0.82), pars opercularis (d=0.94), superior frontal (d=0.88), 우측 lateral orbito frontal (d=0.85), pars orbitalis (d=0.89) 로 나타났다. 또한, PANSS와 양측 대뇌 피질의 평균 두께는 약한 음의 상관관계(left hemisphere r=-0.234, right hemisphere r=-0.230)를 나타내었다. 이러한 연구의 결과는 정상인과 비교하여 기분장애 환자의 피질 두께 감소영역을 확인하였고 질환의 증상 정도와 피질 두께 변화의 관련성을 확인하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Chemotherapy for Malignant Gliomas Based on Histoculture Drug Response Assay : A Pilot Study

  • Objective : The Histoculture Drug Response Assay (HDRA), which measures chemosensitivity using minced tumor tissue on drug-soaked gelfoam, has been expected to overcome the limitations of in vitro chemosensitivity test in part. We analyzed interim results of HDRA in malignant gliomas to see if the test can deserve further clinical trials. Methods : Thirty-three patients with malignant gliomas were operated and their tumor samples were examined for the chemosensitivity to 10 chosen drugs by HDRA. The most sensitive chemotherapy regimen among those pre-established was chosen based on the number of sensitive drugs or total inhibition rate (IR) of the regimen. The response was evaluated by 3 month magnetic resonance image. Results : Among 13 patients who underwent total resection of the tumor, 12 showed no evidence of disease and one patient revealed progression. The response rate in 20 patients with residual tumors was 55% (3 complete and 8 partial responses). HDRA sensitivity at the cut-off value of more than one sensitive drug in the applied regimen showed a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 60% and predictability of 70%. Another cut-off value of >80% of total IR revealed a sensitivity of 100%, specificity of 69%, and predictability of 80%. For 12 newly diagnosed glioblastoma patients, median progression-free survival of the HDRA sensitive group was 21 months, while that of the non-sensitive group was 6 months ($p$=0.07). Conclusion : HDRA for malignant glioma was inferred as a feasible method to predict the chemotherapy response. We are encouraged to launch phase 2 clinical trial with chemosensitivity on HDRA.

Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption in Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Patients with Post-Concussion Syndrome: Evaluation with Region-Based Quantification of Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MR Imaging Parameters Using Automatic Whole-Brain Segmentation

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption in mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) patients with post-concussion syndrome (PCS) using dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and automatic whole brain segmentation. Materials and Methods: Forty-two consecutive mTBI patients with PCS who had undergone post-traumatic MR imaging, including DCE MR imaging, between October 2016 and April 2018, and 29 controls with DCE MR imaging were included in this retrospective study. After performing three-dimensional T1-based brain segmentation with FreeSurfer software (Laboratory for Computational Neuroimaging), the mean Ktrans and vp from DCE MR imaging (derived using the Patlak model and extended Tofts and Kermode model) were analyzed in the bilateral cerebral/cerebellar cortex, bilateral cerebral/cerebellar white matter (WM), and brainstem. Ktrans values of the mTBI patients and controls were calculated using both models to identify the model that better reflected the increased permeability owing to mTBI (tendency toward higher Ktrans values in mTBI patients than in controls). The Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman rank correlation test were performed to compare the mean Ktrans and vp between the two groups and correlate Ktrans and vp with neuropsychological tests for mTBI patients. Results: Increased permeability owing to mTBI was observed in the Patlak model but not in the extended Tofts and Kermode model. In the Patlak model, the mean Ktrans in the bilateral cerebral cortex was significantly higher in mTBI patients than in controls (p = 0.042). The mean vp values in the bilateral cerebellar WM and brainstem were significantly lower in mTBI patients than in controls (p = 0.009 and p = 0.011, respectively). The mean Ktrans of the bilateral cerebral cortex was significantly higher in patients with atypical performance in the auditory continuous performance test (commission errors) than in average or good performers (p = 0.041). Conclusion: BBB disruption, as reflected by the increased Ktrans and decreased vp values from the Patlak model, was observed throughout the bilateral cerebral cortex, bilateral cerebellar WM, and brainstem in mTBI patients with PCS.

2열 불투과성 사각형 잠제를 이용한 단주기파랑 및 고립파의 제어 (Control of Short-period and Solitary Waves Using Two-rowed Impermeable Rectangular Submerged Dike)

  • 본 연구에서는 단주기파랑과 고립파를 동시에 저감시키기 위해 Bragg공진현상으로부터 입사파랑에너지를 포획하여 배후로 전달되는 파랑에너지의 저감을 도모할 수 있는 2열 불투과성 사각형 잠제(이하에서는 2열잠제로 칭함)의 파랑제어능을 수치적으로 검토하였다. 단주기파랑에 대해서는 Green공식에 기초한 경계적분방정식법을, 고립파에 대해서는 3차원수치파동수로를 이용하는 3차원혼상류해석법을 각각 적용하였고, 기존의 수치해석결과 및 고립파의 특성과 비교·분석하여 본 수치해석법의 타당성을 검증하였다. 이로부터 단주기파랑의 제어에 있어서 최소반사율을 나타내는 2열잠제의 조건을 검토하였고, 고립파에 대해서는 2열잠제의 천단고, 천단폭, 이격거리 및 입사파고 등을 변화시켜 1열 불투과성 사각형 잠제(이하에서는 1열잠제로 칭함)에 의한 결과와의 대비를 통하여 고립파의 3차원파랑제어특성을 검토하였다. 수치해석결과는 1열잠제보다 단면적이 훨씬 적은(천단고는 동일함) 2열잠제가 단주기파랑 및 고립파를 훨씬 효율적으로 제어하며, 특히 본 연구의 조건하에서 2열잠제의 경우가 1열잠제에 비해 약 58%정도의 부가적인 파고저감효과를 나타내었다.

Automated Detection and Segmentation of Bone Metastases on Spine MRI Using U-Net: A Multicenter Study

  • Objective: To develop and evaluate a deep learning model for automated segmentation and detection of bone metastasis on spinal MRI. Materials and Methods: We included whole spine MRI scans of adult patients with bone metastasis: 662 MRI series from 302 patients (63.5 ± 11.5 years; male:female, 151:151) from three study centers obtained between January 2015 and August 2021 for training and internal testing (random split into 536 and 126 series, respectively) and 49 MRI series from 20 patients (65.9 ± 11.5 years; male:female, 11:9) from another center obtained between January 2018 and August 2020 for external testing. Three sagittal MRI sequences, including non-contrast T1-weighted image (T1), contrast-enhanced T1-weighted Dixon fat-only image (FO), and contrast-enhanced fat-suppressed T1-weighted image (CE), were used. Seven models trained using the 2D and 3D U-Nets were developed with different combinations (T1, FO, CE, T1 + FO, T1 + CE, FO + CE, and T1 + FO + CE). The segmentation performance was evaluated using Dice coefficient, pixel-wise recall, and pixel-wise precision. The detection performance was analyzed using per-lesion sensitivity and a free-response receiver operating characteristic curve. The performance of the model was compared with that of five radiologists using the external test set. Results: The 2D U-Net T1 + CE model exhibited superior segmentation performance in the external test compared to the other models, with a Dice coefficient of 0.699 and pixel-wise recall of 0.653. The T1 + CE model achieved per-lesion sensitivities of 0.828 (497/600) and 0.857 (150/175) for metastases in the internal and external tests, respectively. The radiologists demonstrated a mean per-lesion sensitivity of 0.746 and a mean per-lesion positive predictive value of 0.701 in the external test. Conclusion: The deep learning models proposed for automated segmentation and detection of bone metastases on spinal MRI demonstrated high diagnostic performance.

위상대조도 자기공명영상을 이용한 심장 혈류평가에 있어서 호흡정지 기법과 비 호흡정지 기법의 비교평가 (The Assessment of the Breath Hold and the Free Breath Methods about the Blood Flow Evaluation by Using Phase Contrast MRI)

  • 자기공명영상을 이용한 심장혈류의 측정은 호흡과 심장의 불수의적인 움직임으로 인해 제한되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 심장혈류의 측정값을 비교하여 적절한 호흡방법과 영상변수를 제시하고 위상대조도 자기공명영상을 통한 심장혈류검사의 정확성을 향상시키고자 하였다. 연구 대상자는 정상의 지원자 15명(남: 10명, 여: 5명) 평균연령: $30{\pm}5.2$세를 대상으로 하였다. 상행대동맥과 하행대동맥에서 위상대조도 자기공명영상을 이용하여 각각 호흡정지 retrospective 1NEX와 비 호흡정지 retrospective 1-3NEX로 검사하여 비교하여 평가하였다. 연구 결과 상행대동맥에서 호흡정지 retrospective 1NEX의 평균혈류량/평균혈류속도는 각각 $96.17{\pm}19.12ml/sec$, $17.04{\pm}4.12cm/sec$로 비 호흡정지 retrospective 1NEX의 $72.31{\pm}13.27ml$, $12.32{\pm}3.85cm/sec$와는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 반면에 2NEX에서는 평균혈류량과 평균혈류속도가 $101.90{\pm}24.09$, 16.84{\pm}4.32, 3NEX에서는 $103.06{\pm}25.49$, $16.88{\pm}4.19$로 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>0.05). 하행대동맥에서 호흡정지 retrospective 1NEX의 평균혈류량/평균혈류속도는 $76.68{\pm}19.72ml/sec$, $22.23{\pm}4.8cm/sec$로 비 호흡정지 retrospective 1-3NEX와 비교 시 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 그러므로 비 호흡정지 retrospective방법은 NEX의 증가에 따라 호흡정지 retrospective방법과 비교하여 심장혈류 측정값에 유의한 차이점이 없기 때문에 숨을 잘 참지 못하거나 또는 소아환자에게 있어서 심장혈류 검사의 진단적 가치를 높여줄 것으로 사료된다.
