  • Latticed domes take form a curved surface by arranged members with certain patterns. For this reason, it is possible for the characteristics of vibration to complicate by change of various parameters of dome; grid-pattern, boundary condition and ratio of radius-height etc. Therefore, it is important to clarify the effect by these parameters before generalized dynamic response analysis. So this study deals with free vibration analysis of latticed domes and makes clear an effect of shape coefficient, that is, geometrical characteristics of latticed domes, on the vibration characteristics.

The equipment machineries in building are mostly on basement story. The slab of the lowest basement story with equipment machineries is considerded as concentrated masses on plate supported on foundation. In this paper. vibration analysis of rectangular thin plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 4 nodes. (omitted)

  • The aim of this experimental study is to investigate the free vibration and buckling behaviors of hybrid composite beams having different span lengths and orientation angles subjected to different impact energy levels. The impact energies are applied in range from 10 J to 30 J. Free vibration and buckling behaviors of intact and impacted hybrid composite beams are compared with each other for different span lengths, orientation angles and impact levels. In free vibration analysis, the first three modes of hybrid beams are considered and natural frequencies are normalized. It is seen that first and second modes are mostly affected with increasing impact energy level. Also, the fundamental natural frequency is mostly affected with the usage of mold that have 40 mm span length (SP40). Moreover, as the impact energy increases, the normalized critical buckling loads decrease gradually for $0^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}$ oriented hybrid beams but they fluctuate for the other beams.

  • In this paper, a new refined hyperbolic shear deformation beam theory for the free vibration analysis of functionally graded beam is presented. The theory accounts for hyperbolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the functionally graded beam without using shear correction factors. In addition, the effect of different micromechanical models on the free vibration response of these beams is studied. Various micromechanical models are used to evaluate the mechanical characteristics of the FG beams whose properties vary continuously across the thickness according to a simple power law. Based on the present theory, the equations of motion are derived from the Hamilton's principle. Navier type solution method was used to obtain frequencies, and the numerical results are compared with those available in the literature. A detailed parametric study is presented to show the effect of different micromechanical models on the free vibration response of a simply supported FG beams.

  • Differential Quadrature Method (DQM) is a powerful method which can be used to solve numerical problems in the analysis of structural and dynamical systems. In this study the governing equation which represents the free vibration of coupled shear walls is solved using the DQM method. A one-dimensional model has been used in this study. At the end of study various examples are presented to verify the accuracy of the method.

  • In this paper nonlocal free vibration analysis of a doubly curved piezoelectric nano shell is studied. First order shear deformation theory and nonlocal elasticity theory is employed to derive governing equations of motion based on Hamilton's principle. The doubly curved piezoelectric nano shell is resting on Pasternak's foundation. A parametric study is presented to investigate the influence of significant parameters such as nonlocal parameter, two radii of curvature, and ratio of radius to thickness on the fundamental frequency of doubly curved piezoelectric nano shell.

  • Multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses with/without rotary inertias are widely used in engineering applications, but in the literature for free vibration analysis of such structural systems; Bernoulli-Euler Beam Theory (BEBT) without axial force effect is used. The literature regarding the free vibration analysis of Bernoulli-Euler single-span beams carrying a number of spring-mass systems, Bernoulli-Euler multiple-step and multi-span beams carrying multiple spring-mass systems and multiple point masses are plenty, but that of Timoshenko multiple-step beams carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias with axial force effect is fewer. The purpose of this paper is to utilize Numerical Assembly Technique (NAT) and Differential Transform Method (DTM) to determine the exact natural frequencies and mode shapes of the axial-loaded Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying a number of intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias. The model allows analyzing the influence of the shear and axial force effects, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of the multiple-step beams by using Timoshenko Beam Theory (TBT). At first, the coefficient matrices for the intermediate lumped mass with rotary inertia, the step change in cross-section, left-end support and right-end support of the multiple-step Timoshenko beam are derived from the analytical solution. After the derivation of the coefficient matrices, NAT is used to establish the overall coefficient matrix for the whole vibrating system. Finally, equating the overall coefficient matrix to zero one determines the natural frequencies of the vibrating system and substituting the corresponding values of integration constants into the related eigenfunctions one determines the associated mode shapes. After the analytical solution, an efficient and easy mathematical technique called DTM is used to solve the differential equations of the motion. The calculated natural frequencies of Timoshenko multiple-step beam carrying intermediate lumped masses and/or rotary inertias for the different values of axial force are given in tables. The first five mode shapes are presented in graphs. The effects of axial force, intermediate lumped masses and rotary inertias on the free vibration analysis of Timoshenko multiple-step beam are investigated.

  • A simulation method called modified differential transform is studied to solve the free vibration problems of uniform Euler-Bernoulli beam. First of all, the modified differential transform method is derived. Secondly, the modified differential transformation is applied to uniform Euler-Bernoulli beam free-free vibration. And then a set of differential equations are established. Through algebraic operations on these equations, we can get any natural frequency and normalized mode shape. Thirdly, the FEM is applied to obtain the numerical solutions. Finally, mode experimental method (MEM) is conducted to obtain experimental data for analysis by signal processing with LMS Test.lab Vibration testing and analysis system. Experimental data and simulation results are illustrated to be in comparison with the analytical solutions. The results show that the modified differential transform method can achieve good results in predicting the solution of such problems.

  • This paper aims to investigate the free vibration analysis of FG plates, taking into account the effects of even and uneven porosity. The study employs the Hellinger-Reisner functional and obtains the element's bending stress and membrane stress fields from the analytical solution of the governing equations of the thick plate and plane problem, respectively. The displacement field serves as the second independent field. While few articles on free vibration analysis of circular plates exist, this paper investigates the free vibration of both rectangular and circular plates. After validating the proposed element, the paper investigates the effects of porosity distributions on the natural frequency of the FG porous plate. The study calculates the natural frequency of thin and thick bending plates with different aspect ratios and support conditions for various porosity and volume fraction index values. The study uses three types of porosity distributions, X, V, and O, for the uneven porosity distribution case. For O and V porosity distribution modes, porosity has a minor effect on the natural frequency for both circular and rectangular plates. However, in the case of even porosity distribution or X porosity distribution, the effect of porosity on the natural frequency of circular and rectangular plates increases with an increase in the volume fraction index.

  • An analytical method for the free vibration of single circular plate submerged in a fluid-filled rigid cylindrical vessel was developed by the Rayleigh-Ritz method based on the Fourier-Bessel series expansion. It was assumed that the plate is clamped at an offcentered location of the cylinder, and the non-viscous incompressible fluid contained in the cylinder is bisected by the plate. It was found that the theoretical results can predict well the fluid-coupled natural frequencies with excellent accuracy comparing with the finite element analysis results. The offcentered distance effect on the natural frequencies was also observed.
