적외선 센서 냉각용 스터링 냉동기의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Stirling refrigerator for Cooling of Infrared Detector)

  • A Stirling cryocooler is relatively compact, reliable, commercially available, and uses helium as a working fluid. The FPFD stirling cryocooler consists of two compressor pistons driven by linear motors which makes pressure waves and a pneumatically driven displacer piston with regenerator. A free piston and free displacer(FPFD) Stirling cryocooler for cooling infrared and cryo-sensors is currently under development at KIMM(Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials). In order to evaluate the feasibility of using a linear motor driving cryocooler, prototype Stirling cryocooler with a nominal cooling capacity of 0.5W at 80K was designed, fabricated and tested. The prototype has achieved no load temperature of 51K and cooling power of 0.33W.

부동피스톤과 스프링을 갖는 반능동 ER댐퍼의 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of a Semi-Active ER Damper with Free Piston and Spring)

  • This paper presents a novel type of a semiactive damper featuring an electro-rheological(ER) fluid. Unlike conventional cylindrical ER damper, the proposed one has controllable orifices by the intensity of electric fields (We call it orifice type). The dynamic model of the orifice type ER damper is formulated by incorporating field-dependent Bingham properties of an arabic gum-based ER fluid. Design parameters such as electrode gap are subsequently determined on the basis of the dynamic model. After manufacturing the orifice type ER damper, field-dependent damping forces and damping force controllability are empirically evaluated. In the evaluation procedure, conventional cylindrical ER damper is adopted and its performance characteristics are compared with those of the orifice type ER damper. In addition, the proposed one is installed with a full-car model and its vibration control performance associated with a skyhook controller is investigated.

  • 디텐트력은 철심형 영구 자석 전기기기의 구조상 피할 수 없는 기기 특성이며 원통형 선형발전기에서도 기기의 정상적인 동작을 방해하는 요인으로 작용한다. 특히 정격 외부 입력이 작은 경우 디텐트력은 기기의 성능에 크게 영향을 미칠 수 있으며 이를 저감할 수 있는 설계가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 여러 가지의 디텐트력 저감법 중 이동자의 극 피치 조정을 통해 디텐트력을 저감하고자 하였다. 극피치의 변화는 디텐트력 외에도 역기전력 파형에 영향을 주게 되므로, 기기의 목표 성능을 만족하기 위해서는 디텐트력과 역기전력을 함께 고려하여야 한다. 제안된 설계안은 유한요소법을 이용하여 해석되었으며 이를 통해 얻어진 결과를 고려하여 최종 모델을 도출하였다.

  • 강내탄도 성능 해석의 정확도를 높이기 위해서 1차원 해석 코드를 2차원 및 3차원으로 확장시키는 작업이 필요하다. 다차원 확장 시 이동경계면 해석에 Cut Cell Method를 적용하였다. 이에 high resolution 기법인 MUSCL-Hancock을 선택하였고 free piston problem에 적용하여 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

Practical Calculation of Iron Loss for Cylindrical Linear Machine

  • This paper is a study for accurate iron loss calculation of a cylindrical linear machine for free piston engine. This study presents that it is possible to accurately predict power loss in ferromagnetic laminations under magnetic flux by specially considering the dependence of hysteresis, classical, and excess loss components on the magnetic induction derivative. Significant iron loss in the armature core will not only compromise the machine efficiency, but may also result in excessive heating, which could lead to irreversible deterioration in the machine performance. Thus, correct prediction of power losses under a distorted flux waveform is therefore an important prerequisite to machine design, particularly when dealing with large apparatus where stringent efficiency standards are required. Finally, it will be discussed about the iron loss in various materials of cylindrical linear electric machine by geometric and electrical parameters. It will give elaborate information about the perfect design and design rules of cylindrical linear machine and in parallel tools for the calculation, simulation and design will be available.

Optimization and Thrust force Calculation of Linear Generator in Starting Mode for Free-Piston Engine Applications

  • this paper provides a novel method to start the linear engine coupled linear generator from dead stop to its final steady state operation. This method depends mainly to use the linear generator mounted on the shaft of the linear engine to provide the required thrust force to move and oscillate the linear engine from bottom to top dead centers. It is a cost effective approach to start the internal linear combustion engine using its coupled tubular permanent magnet linear generator proposed here. This linear generator operates in this case in motoring mode, providing the required thrust force by feeding this linear generator phases with currents by using a three phase PWM inverter controlled by position feedback scheme. In order to provide the desired thrust force with specific value and direction, a position feedback is required to control the free piston engine motion through controlling the inverter switches using PWM control scheme.

  • This paper describes a passive safety injection system with free piston Stirling pump working withabundant decay heat in the nuclear reactor during the hypothetical accident. The water column in the tube assembly connected from the hot chamber to the cold chamber in the pump oscillates periodically due to thermal volume changes of non-condensable gas in each chamber. The oscillating pressure in the water column is converted into the pumping power with a suction-and-bleed type valve assembly. In this paper a dynamic model describing the frequency of oscillation and pumping pressure is developed. It was found that the pumping pressure is a function of the temperature difference between the chambers. Also, the frequency oscillation depends on the length of the tube with water column.

  • Model Scramjet engine is tested with T4 free-piston shock tunnel at University of Queensland, Australia. Basically, test condition is fixed as Mach 7.6 at 31 km altitude. With this condition, variation effects of fuel equivalence ratio, cavity, cowl setting and angle of attack were investigated. In the results, supersonic combustion was observed with low and middle fuel equivalence ratio. At high equivalence ratio, thermal choking was occurred due to the intensive reaction. Cavity and W-shape cowl showed early ignition and enhanced mixing respectively.

수직 평판 요소의 수중동요 근사해와 설계 적용 (Approximate Solution of Vertical Wave Board Oscillating in Submerged Condition and Its Design Application)

  • The segment of the piston type wave board has been expressed as a submerged vertical line segment in the two dimensional wave flume. Either end of vertical line segment representing wave board could be located in fluid domain from free surface to the bottom of the flume. Naturally the segment could be extended from the bottom to the free surface of the flume. It is assumed that the piston motion of the wave board could be defined by the sinusoidal oscillation in horizontal direction. Simplified analytic solution of the submerged segment of wave board has been derived through the first order perturbation method in water of finite depth. The analytic solution has been utilized in expressing the wave generated by the piston type wave board installed on the upper or lower half of the flume. The wave form derived by the analytic solution have been compared with the wave profile obtained through the CFD calculation for the either of the above cases. It is appeared that the wave length and the wave height are coincided each other between analytic solution and CFD calculation. However the wave form obtained by CFD calculations are more closer to real wave form than those from analytic calculation. It is appeared that the linear solutions could be not only superposed by segment but also integrated by finite elements without limitation. Finally it is proven that the wave generated by the oscillation of flap type wave board could be derived by integrating the wave generated by the sinusoidal motion of the finite segment of the piston type wave board.

피스톤식 자유낙하 주상시료 채취기 (A Piston Type Free-fall Corer(KORDI-FFC))

  • 해양 퇴적물의 주상시료 채취를 위하여 사용되는 자유낙하 코어러(free-fall corer, FFC)는 조사선의 윈치와 케이블이 필요없고 소형 조사선에서도 사용이 가능한 장비이다. 심해저 광물지원 탐사시 탐사효율을 높이고자 새로 개발된 피스톤형 자유낙 하 코어러는 KORDI-FFC라 명명되었다. 이 장비는 이 장비는 피스톤 코어러(piston corer)와 자유낙하 코어러의 장점이 조합된 채취기로, 열린 배럴의 중력 코어러(open barrel gravity corer)를 변조하여 만든 기존의 자유낙하 코어러의 단점이 보강되었고 양질의 시료가 채취되도록 설계되었다. 본 장비를 진해만과 제주부근 해역에서 4회에 걸쳐 투하한 결과 교란이 적은 표층 퇴적물 시료가 성공적으로 채취되었다. 시험 결과 본 장비는 심해저 및 천해저에서 원치와 케이클, 갑판의 A-frame, 또는 해상 크레인 없는 소형 선박에서도 사용이 가능하고, 또한 최단 시간에 퇴적물 시료를 채취하며, 본 장비의 사용과 동시에 선상에서 자유롭게 다른 작업을 할 수 있고, 제작 및 소모 비용이 저렴하며, 표층퇴적물의 교란이 적은 양질의 시료를 채취할 수 있는 장점이 있 다.
