This study presents the effective stiffness-based optimal technique to control Quantitatively lateral drift for shear wall-frame structure system using sensitivity analysis. To this end, the element stiffness matrices are constituted to solve the compatibility problem of displacement degree of freedom between the frame and shear wall. Also, lateral drift constraint to introduce the approximation concept that can preserve the generality of the mathematical programming and can effectively solve the large scaled problems is established. And, the section property relationships for shear wall and frame members are considered in order to reduce the number of design variables and differentiate easily the stiffness matrices. Specifically, constant-shape assumption which is uniformly varying in size during optimal process is applied in frame structure. The thickness or length of shear wall can be changed depending on user's intent. Two types of 20 story shear wall-frame structure system are presented to illustrate the features of the stiffness-based optimal design technique.

The 200mesh screen was tensioned and fixed on a frame. When applied tension to 5N and 10N per unit area, a side length of opening of the screen was 163.223${\mu}m$ and 168.224${\mu}m$, respective. But side length not tensioned was 158.879${\mu}m$. We knew that a side length of opening of the screen rarely changes with tension applied to the screen. The appearances that a side length of opening of the screen expand little are due to a decreasing diameter of thread by means of tension. In a thickness measurement of screen, While the high density mesh screen that had a lot of knots that crossed a line of latitude and longitude per unit area appeared a higher numerical value, the low density mesh screen that had a few knots appeared a low numerical value.
Various features of the existing perturbations in the Earth's spin rotation are investigated for the recent and most reliable data by spectral analysis, filtering, and comparison with idealized model. First, theory of Earth's spin rotational perturbation is briefly re-derived in the Earth-fixed coordinate frame. By spectral windowings, different periodic components of the length of day perturbation are separated, and their characters and excitations are discussed. Different periodic components of polar motion are acquired similarly and described with further discussion of their excitations. Causes of the long time trends of both the length of day and polar motion are discussed. Three possible causes are considered for the newly discovered 490-day period component in the polar motion.

A method for the determination of effective length factors of the framed columns with sinusoidally tapered sections is proposed. In the study, the stability analysis of the single story-two equal bay, frame with tapered columns is performed first by finite element method. The changes of the critical load coefficients of frames are reprersented by algebraic equations of the analysis parameters. The effective length factor formula is expressed in terms of proposed algebraic equation. The effective length factors for the prismatic columns (α=0.0) estimated by the proposed method coincide fairly well with those determined by the analytical method.

The experiments were conducted to fine out the handling characteristics of the FMT(Frame Mideater Trawl) in the southern waters of Korea using a trawler "DONGBAEK" belongs to Yosu National University. The realtionship between the net depth D(m) and the warp length L(m) at the towing speeds of 2.5k't and 3.5k't werw as follows ; D(m) = 0.30L - 1.3(2.5k't), D(m) = 0.16L - 1.5(3.5k't). Therefore, the net depth was 3.0m deeper when the warp length was 10m longer at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 1.6m deeper for 10m longer at the speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The sinking speed of FMT was 6.5m/min when the warp releasing speed was 24m/min at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 3.8m/min for 25m/min at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The rising speed of FMT was 6.9m/min when the warp rewinding speed was 28m/min at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 5.3m/min for 25m/min at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively. The mean elapsed time getting to the stable towing condition was 104sec at the towing speed of 2.5k't and was 105sec at the towing speed of 3.5k't, respectively, and there was no time difference for the towing speed variation. During the towing, the net depth was comparatively stable on the condition of no change for the warp length and the towing speed.

The present paper proposes a novel dynamic system for hand gesture recognition. The approach involved is comprised of three main steps: detection, tracking and recognition. First, the gesture contour captured by a 2D-camera is detected by combining the three-frame difference method and skin-color elliptic boundary model. Then, the trajectory of the hand gesture is extracted via a gesture-tracking algorithm based on an occlusion-direction oriented linear extrapolation predictor, where the gesture coordinate in next frame is predicted by the judgment of current occlusion direction. Finally, to overcome the interference of insignificant trajectory segments, the longest common subsequence (LCS) is employed with the aid of velocity information. Besides, to tackle the subgesture problem, i.e., some gestures may also be a part of others, the most probable gesture category is identified through comparison of the relative LCS length of each gesture, i.e., the proportion between the LCS length and the total length of each template, rather than the length of LCS for each gesture. The gesture dataset for system performance test contains digits ranged from 0 to 9, and experimental results demonstrate the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This study was done to classify children's somatotypes and to provide the fundamental data or their clothing sizing system for the purpose of designing patterns fur children's wear and standardizing sizes of ready-made clothes. The sampling was done for 7-8 years-old-girl living in Pusan and Kyungsangnam-do. Data from each girl comprises 33 anthropometic measurments and 7 photogrphic measurments, based on the somatometric characteristics of girls which I had obtained. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis were performed for statistical analysis of the data. Seven factors which explain 76.49% of the whole variances were extracted. The thirst and second factors which explain more than 70% of the whole variances represent 'horizontal size 'and 'vortical size', which characterize most aspects of the body shape of the subjects. On the basis of the cluster analysis, three different upper body types were categorized. Type 1 has quite long surface length of the upper body and rising shoulders and are close to the averages of this age group. Type 2 has highest stature, biggest frame, dropped shoulders and surface length of the upper body similar to the type 1. Type 3 has shortest stature, smallest frame and sloping shoulders. According to the analysis to discriminate somatotypes of the upper body by this age group, the discriminative items in discriminant function are follows. As this group, waist circumference of discriminant function 1 and front length and length between both shoulder points of discriminant function 2 have large coefficient values.

Noise and vibration induced by subway operation are one of the major factor which annoy residents living near railway tracks. While lateral vibration is a major factor in analyzing seismic effect of the structure, vertical vibration became a major concern in considering the subway induced vibration because relatively smaller energy affects only nearby areas than that of earthquake. A characteristics of structural response induced by subway operation has been studied with different total height of the building and different number of spans. Also the frame with different span length has been studied. As the numbers of degrees freedom increase the higher mode effect on vertical vibration increases. Accordingly, the total affecting vertical modes are distributive as the numbers of degrees of freedom increase. Though the total degree of freedom increases, only some of the dominant modes actively affects to the vertical response of the structure. A frame with the number of equal spans could be analyzed by replacing the whole frame as one when we want to predict the response of the vertical vibration. Also it has been found that the seperate frame analysis will give little different result when adjacent span is relatively longer than others.

The thickness of a stable and economical frame has been designed in order to reduce costs. Therefore, this study applied structural analysis and vibration analysis based on a comparison of the thicknesses of frames. Four types of frames (1mm, 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm) were modeled on a bicycle frame that has a length of 842mm, a width of 100mm, and a height of 400.5mm, and all of these frames generated the stress and maximum deformation amount in the state and around the saddle. The maximum stress shown was 25.732 MPa in 1mm, 11.79 MPa in 2mm, and 8.2015 MPa in 3mm, and the maximum deformation amount shown was 0.063611mm in 1mm, 0.031978mm in 2mm, and 0.022319mm in 3mm. The natural frequency of the frame thicknesses 1mm, 2mm, and 3mm was estimated as within 270 Hz. The critical frequency of conditions of 3mm was the biggest at 118.1Hz compared with the 3-mm model; thus, 3mm was shown to have the most satisfactory resistance.
The main objective of this study was to investigate the seismic behavior of damaged reinforced concrete frames rehabilitated by introducing cast in place reinforced concrete infills. Four bare and five infilled frames were constructed and tested. Each specimen consisted of two (twin) 1/3-scale, one-bay and two-story reinforced concrete frames. Test specimens were tested under reversed-cyclic lateral loading until considerable damage occurred. RC infills were then introduced to the damaged specimens. One bare specimen was infilled without being subjected to any damage. All infilled frames were then tested under reversed-cyclic lateral loading until failure. While some of the test frames were detailed properly according to the current Turkish seismic code, others were built with the common deficiencies observed in existing residential buildings. The variables investigated were the effects of the damage level and deficiencies in the bare frame on the seismic behavior of the infilled frame. The deficiencies in the frame were; low concrete strength, inadequate confinement at member ends, 90 degree hooks in column and beam ties and inadequate length of lapped splices in column longitudinal bars made above the floor levels. Test results revealed that both the lateral strength and lateral stiffness increased significantly with the introduction of reinforced concrete infills even when the frame had the deficiencies mentioned above. The deficiency which affected the behavior of infilled frames most adversely was the presence of lap splices in column longitudinal reinforcement.
