In this paper, the stability of SA(Spectral Acceleration) fragility curves is studied for the two sets of elastic modulus of concrete. In doing that, general purpose structural analysis program and generally used probability density function are used. The results of structural analysis are represented by Bernoulli distribution which says damage or no damage. By the use of Maximum Likelihood Method, two parameters of lognormal distribution - median and standard deviation - are found. With them, the fragility curves are constructed.

In performing a risk analysis of structure for earthquake, it is imperative to identify the vulnerability of structures associated with various stages of damage. And the earthquake resisting capability is needed for structures like bridge. So the damage analysis of bridges with or without isolator for earthquake effects is necessary. In this paper, the risk analysis of seismic isolated LRB bridges considering earthquake effects such as PGA, PGV, SA, SV, and SI is performed using fragility curves to assure the earthquake resisting capability of the structures. And, the stability of fragility curve is investigated with respect to elastic modulus.

In performing a risk analysis on structure for earthquake, it is imperative to identify the vulnerability of structures associated with various stages of damage. And, the stability of fragility curve is investigated with respect to input earthquake.
Recently, frequent earthquakes can cause serious damage to the bridge. So newly constructed bridge is considered earthquake resistant design, and for the existing old bridge evaluation of damage state is needed. In this paper, replacement of US-artificial earthquakes which are used for the construction of fragility curve for evaluating damage state to Korean artificial earthquakes to meet the Korean specifications is studied. For the generation of artificial earthquakes, the fragility curves are constructed for the PGA, for the cases of having isolated bearing and not having that.
Floods have been known to be one of the main causes of bridge collapse. Contrary to earthquakes, flood events tend to occur repeatedly and more frequently in rainfall areas; flood-induced damage and collapse account for a significant portion of disasters in many countries. Nevertheless, in contrast to extensive research on the seismic fragility analysis for civil infrastructure, relatively little attention has been devoted to the flood-related fragility. The present study proposes a novel methodology for deriving flood fragility curves for bridges. Fragility curves are generally derived by means of structural reliability analysis, and structural failure modes are defined as excessive demands of the displacement ductility of a bridge under increased water pressure resulting from debris accumulation and structural deterioration, which are known to be the primary causes of bridge failures during flood events. Since these bridge failure modes need to be analyzed through sophisticated structural analysis, flood fragility curve derivation that would require repeated finite element analyses may take a long time. To calculate the probability of flood-induced failure of bridges efficiently, in the proposed framework, the first order reliability method (FORM) is employed for reducing the required number of finite element analyses. In addition, two software packages specialized for reliability analysis and finite element analysis, FERUM (Finite Element Reliability Using MATLAB) and ABAQUS, are coupled so that they can exchange their inputs and outputs during structural reliability analysis, and a Python-based interface for FERUM and ABAQUS is newly developed to effectively coordinate the fragility analysis. The proposed framework of flood fragility analysis is applied to an actual reinforced concrete bridge in South Korea to demonstrate the detailed procedure of the approach.

In this study, the seismic fragility curve according to the boundary conditions is created for a two-pylon concrete cable-stayed bridge, and the effect of the boundary conditions on the seismic fragility of the target bridge is evaluated. An analysis model for the target bridge is constructed using Midas Civil, and a nonlinear time history analysis is performed by applying the fiber element, concrete and rebar material models. The boundary conditions between the pylon and the stiffened girder are classified into four types: rigid, unconstrained, pot bearing, and seismic isolation bearing, and the seismic fragility curves are created for each boundary condition. The plastic hinge section of the pylon, the connection part, and the cable are selected as weak members, and the earthquake vulnerability curve is created for them. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the seismic isolation bearing model shows the lowest damage probability in the pylon and the connection part, and the seismic fragility of the cable is less affected by the boundary conditions than other members.

This study presents fragility curves for the wind fragility analysis of a six-span extradosed bridge. The loads and corresponding load combinations are calculated using domestic design codes. Random variables are utilized to considering the uncertainties of the input variables for wind loads. The fragility curve is represented as a log-normal distribution function, in which two parameters are estimated by the maximum likelihood method. The results show that the extradosed bridge is safe to suffer static wind forces.
The fragility curves for CFRD dams are derived in this study for probabilistic damage estimation as a function of a ground motion intensity. The dam crest settlement, which is a widely used damage index, is used for minor, moderate, and extensive damage states. The settlement is calculated from nonlinear dynamic numerical simulations. The accuracy of the numerical model is validated through comparison with a centrifuge test. The fragility curve is represented as a log normal distribution function and presented as a function of the peak ground acceleration. The fragility curves developed in this study can be utilized for real time assessment of the damage of dams.

Seismic assessment of underground structures is one of the challenging problems in engineering design. This is because there are usually many sources of uncertainties in rocks and probable earthquake characteristics. Therefore, for decreasing of the uncertainties, seismic response of underground structures should be evaluated by sufficient number of earthquake records which is scarcely possible in common seismic assessment of underground structures. In the present study, a practical risk-based approach was performed for seismic risk assessment of an unsupported tunnel. For this purpose, Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) was used to evaluate the seismic response of a tunnel in south-west railway of Iran and different analyses were conducted using 15 real records of earthquakes which were chosen from the PEER ground motion database. All of the selected records were scaled to different intensity levels (PGA=0.1-1.7 g) and applied to the numerical models. Based on the numerical modeling results, seismic fragility curves of the tunnel under study were derived from the IDA curves. In the next, seismic risk curve of the tunnel were determined by convolving the hazard and fragility curves. On the basis of the tunnel fragility curves, an earthquake with PGA equal to 0.35 g may lead to severe damage or collapse of the tunnel with only 3% probability and the probability of moderate damage to the tunnel is 12%.

The seismic damage assessment due io the postulated earthquake was attempted for the buildings in the model district of Seoul City. The model district was selected to represent the typical structural and residential characteristics of Seoul City. The buildings in the model district were classified into 11 structural types. For each structural type, the capacity and fragility curves were constructed with parameters presented in HAZUS. The ground motions due to the postulated earthquakes were artificially generated and ground response analyses were done for three kinds of soil profiles classified with respect to the depth of surface soil layer. The probability of damage state of each structural type was calculated using capacity spectrum method and fragility curve. Finally, the calculated results were translated into GIS database and mapped to evaluate the seismic damage in the model district.
