Various sizes of dolerite sills occur in the Mungyong area, one of well-exposed areas in Okchon belt. All of previous geochemical studies concluded that chemical variations of basic rocks, so-called Sangnae-ri amphibolite, result from the fractional crystallization. The second sill, which is a well differentiated one in the Sangnae-ri area, displays systematic compositional variation associated with gradual change of grain size in vertical sections. In order to clarify the chemical variation in the sill, whether chemical composition of each part of the sill is appropriately derived from the original liquid (represented by the average composition) by addition or subtraction of initial phenocystic minerals are tested(Iwamori program, 1989). According to the calculation, it is shown that major vertical chemical variation of the sill resulted from the accumulation of phenocrysts(olivine, clinopyrxoene, plagioclase, titanomagnetite) which already existed at the time of emplacement or formed just after the emplacement.
The existing stochastic models for the data with hydrologic persistence can be classified into two categories; the short-term and long-term models. For the present study, the Hurst coefficients which are the dominant parameter in the Fast Fractional Gaussian Noise(FFGN)model, one of the long-term models. are estimated with historical annual and monthly streamflows. In order to verify the applicability of these estimators the statistical properties of the generated annual streamflows by FFGN model are compared with those of the historical annual streamflows. Then the generated annual streamflows by FFGN model are disaggregated into the monthly streamflows by disaggregation model at two sites, i.e. Waekman and Jindong, in the Nakdong River Basin. On the other hand, the monthly stream flows at the two sites were also generated by the two-site Matalas model which is one of the short-term models. To evaluate the applicability of the above models and to select the better model the statistical properties of the generated monthly streamflows by two models were compared with those of the historicals, respectively.

In this paper, a new hairpin type strip-line BPF(Band Pass Filter) improving the suppression performance of unwanted frequency signal is studied. A modified hairpin filter is designed by classical hairpin filter design methodology and is realized by newly placing structure of designed filter. And a newly formed coupled-line effects between modified bilateral symmetry structures make the transmission zeros. Each transmission zeros can shift its frequency to wanted frequency by tuning a certain part of filter. To investigate the validity of this novel technique, an order-5 Chebyshev BPF centered at 9.2 GHz with a 15 % FBW(fractional bandwidth) were used. According to design and measurement results, a good performance of insertion loss of 0.8 dB and unwanted signal suppression of maximum 50 dB is achieved at full input/output ports.
In the third phase of the response surface methods, the first-order model is assumed and the curvature of the response surface is checked with a fractional factorial design augmented by centre runs. We further assume that a true model is a quadratic polynomial. To choose an optimal design, Box and Draper(1959) suggested the use of an average mean squared error (AMSE), an average of MSE of y(x) over the region of interest R. The AMSE can be partitioned into the average prediction variance (APV) and average squared bias (ASB). Since AMSE is a function of design moments, region moments and a standardized vector of parameters, it is not possible to select the design that minimizes AMSE. As a practical alternative, Box and Draper(1959) proposed minimum bias design which minimize ASB and showed that factorial design points are shrunk toward the origin for a minimum bias design. In this paper we propose a robust AMSE design which maximizes the minimum efficiency of the design with respect to a standardized vector of parameters.

The concentrations of three different fractions of particulate matters including PM2.5, PM10, and TSP were compared between the Asian Dust (AD) and non-AD (NAD) periods during the spring season of 2001. For the purpose of this comparative analysis, the data sets were obtained from four different observatory sites located within the city boundary of Seoul that concurrently measure those three fractions of PM at hourly intervals. According to our study, several conclusions can be drawn to describe relationships between the AD event and PM distribution characteristics. First of all, it is apparent that the concentrations of PM are distinctively distinguished between AD and NAD. If the extent of contribution to the AD events are assessed on the quantitative basis, it appears that their magnitude increases on the order of PM2.5, PM10, and TSP. As a result, the increase of PM observed during AD event is dominated by the coarse rather than fine fraction of PM. Moreover, when their relationships were assessed in terms of fractional ratios, it was found that TSP/PM10 ratios were almost constant, regardless of the occurrences of AD. On the other hand, the coarse/fine or TSP/PM2.5 ratios changed dramatically between AD and NAD periods. The results of our analysis cleary distinguishes quantitative role of each PM fraction between AD and NAD period, while suggesting indirectly the possible control of source processes on such relationships.

We introduce a number of antenna optimization problem for the zero-forcing beamforming (ZFBF) scheme to enhance energy-efficiency (EE) of the multiple-input-multiple-output broadcast channel. For proposed optimization problem, we assume an instantaneous channel gain of the ZFBF scheme as an average channel gain, given by $N_a-K+1$, in order to reduce a computational complexity of finding the number of active antennas $N_a$. Then, we convert a fractional-form objective function into a subtractive-form, and find a solution of $N_a$ and the maximum EE by an iterative process. Simulation results show that the maximum EE value obtained by proposed algorithm is almost identical to the optimal EE value by the exhaustive search method.

Laboratory scale experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of a biofilter for eliminating dimethyl sulfide(DMS). A commercial compost/pine bark nugget mixture served as the biofilter material for the experiments. The gas flow rate and DMS concentration entering the filter were varied to study their effect on the biofilter efficiency. The operating parameters, such as the residence time, inlet concentration, pH, water content, and temperature, were all monitored throughout the filter operation. The kinetic dependence of the DMS removal along the column length was also studied to obtain a quantitative description of the DMS elimination. High DMS removal efficiencies(>95%) were obtained using the compost filter material seeded with activated sludge. DMS pollutant loading rates of up to 5.2 and 5.5 g-DMS/m$^3$/hr were effectively handled by the upflow and downflow biofilter columns, respectively. The macrokinetics of the DMS removal were found to be fractional-order diffusion-limited over the 9 to 25 ppm range of inlet concentrations tested. The upflow column had an average macrokinetic coefficient(K$\_$f/) of 0.0789 $\pm$ 0.0178 ppm$\^$$\sfrac{1}{2}$//sec, while the downflow column had an average coefficient of 0.0935 $\pm$ 0.0200 ppm$\^$$\sfrac{1}{2}$//sec. Shorter residence times resulted in a lower mass transfer of the pollutant from the gas phase to the aqueous liquid phase, thereby decreasing the efficiency.

This paper presents a compact, low insertion loss, sharp rejection and wide band microstrip band pass filter that is composed rectangular loop resonator and step-impedance-open-stub(SIOS) for wireless data communication. The SIOS can be reduce length about 30% more than general $0.25{\lambda}$ stub. And the stub can the advantage of tuning impedance magnitude. In order to demonstrate agrement of this paper prove, the optimized wide band pass filters are realized and experimented. A transmission line model used to calculate the frequency response of the new filters shows good agreement with measurements. The filter has 3dB fractional bandwith of 52.5%(3.267GHz), an insertion loss of better than 0.33dB from 4.587GHz to 7.854GHz, and two rejection of greater than 30dB within 221MHz$(4.366GHz{\sim}4.587GHz)$ at low frequency band, 181MHz$(7.854GHz{\sim}8.035GHz)$ at high frequency band. Maximum rejection characteristics of the filter are -54dB at low frequency and -60dB at high frequency.
This paper presents a wear analysis procedure for the journal bearings on a stripped-down single-cylinder engine during start-up and coast-down by motoring. A journal bearing is in the mixed elastohydrodynamic (EHL) lubrication region when the shaft speed is less than the corresponding lift-off speed. Below the lift-off speed, a wear scar can form on bearing surfaces. In part 1 of this paper, we develop the appropriate formulations and the calculation procedure for the analysis. Specifically, we formulate an equation for modified film thickness in a journal bearing considering the additional wear volume. In order to obtain the modified specific wear rate induced by the modified Archard’s wear coefficient, we utilized the extended non-dimensional diagram for the specific wear rate, k, the fractional film defect coefficient, Ψ and the asperity load sharing factor, γ2. This asperity load sharing factor is newly calculated by setting the Zhao-Maietta-Chang (ZMC) asperity contact pressure equation coupled with the central film thickness equation derived by using the ZMC asperity contact model equal to the modified central contact pressure derived by using the central (or maximum) contact pressure at the dry rough line-contact configuration. We can use the procedure introduced in this paper to determine the lifetime (or longterm) linear wear in radial journal bearings that is a result of repeated stop-start cycles.
In this study, the experiment of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) technique using GC/FID was conducted as a possible alternative to liquid-liquid extraction for the analysis of EGBE, DGBE, DBM and TGME in water, and also, an optimization condition of trace analysis for disel oxygenates including EGBE by the design of experiment (DOE) was described. Experiments used a fractional factorial design method followed by central composite design allowing optimization of a number of factors as well as statistical analysis of the results. The response surface analysis showed that the extraction efficiency could be represented by a second-order polynomial equation in which the salts concentration, extraction temperature, extraction time and sonication time are the major influences. Using DOE method, a new datadependent method was developed to improve the quantity of confidently analyzed disel oxygenates in water samples.
