프랙탈 이론을 이용한 발광소자 발광특성 분석 (Analysis of Electroluminescent Device Using Fractal Theory)

  • The applicability of models based on fractal geometry to characterize the surface of the EL devices was investigated. Insulating layer and phosphor layer of EL devices were deposited on ITO glass using e-beam method. The images of phosphor layer by scanning electron microscope(SEM) were transformed to binary coded data. The relations between fractal geometry and electrical characteristics of EL devices were investigated. When the fractal dimension of $Cas:EuF_3$ EL device was 1.82 and its grain boundary area was 19%, the brightness of $Cas:EuF_3$ EL device was 261 cd/$\textrm{m}^2$.

프랙탈 차원을 이용한 유압구동 습동면의 형상해석 (Morphological Analysis of Hydraulic Driving Surface using Fractal Dimension)

  • The determination of surface morphology is believed to be extremely important in the areas of contact mechanics, adhesion and friction. In order to describe morphology of various rubbed surface, the wear test was carried out under different experimental conditions in lubricating wear. And fractal descriptors was applied to rubbed surface of hydraulic driving material with image processing system. These descriptors to analyze surface structure are fractal dimension. Surface fractal dimension can be determined by sum of intensity difference of surface pixel. Morphology of rubbed surface can be effectively obtained by fractal dimensions.

  • 제1회 한국물리탐구토론대회에는 10개의 문제가 출제되었는데 본 연구에서는 이들 10개의 문제 중 ${\ulcorner}$Fractal Diffraction${\lrcorner}$ 문제를 해결한 고등학생부 3개 팀과 중학생부 1개 팀의 보고서를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 학생들은 Fractal이라는 개념을 제대로 이해하지 못하여 잘못된 방향으로 문제를 해결한 팀이 많았다. 특히 ${\ulcorner}$Fractal Diffraction${\lrcorner}$ 문제는 출제된 10문제 중 가장 까다로운 문제로 학생들이 생각하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

  • The research was performed to predict the potential landslide with roughness index. It was known that fractal dimension and surface area index can be represented the topography, specially when the natural slopes were rough or rugged. A test site was selected and fractal dimension and surface area index were calculated from the irregular triangle network. Fractal dimension were ranged between $2.016{\sim}2.046$ and surface area index $1.56E+07{\sim}2.59E+07$. Surface area index increased as fractal dimension increased. Slope stability was calculated by infinite slope stability analysis model and was compared to slope stability by fractal and surface area index. In the result, unsafe zones where slope stability is under 1.1 were $5.11{\sim}6.25%$ for the test site. It can be said that fractal dimension and surface area index are a good index to evaluate the slope stability because when fractal dimension and surface area index are greater, then stability of the site is more unsafe.

  • This study proposes that analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extrac-tion for degradation extent. Features extracted from time series data using the chaotic time series signal analyze quantitatively material degradation extent. For this purpose analysis objective in this study if fractal dimension lyapunov exponent and strange attractor on hyperspace. The lyapunov exponent is a measure of the rate at which nearby trajectories in phase space diverge. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive lyapunov exponent. The fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical syste, In experiment fractal(correlation) dimensions and lyapunov experiments showed values of mean 3.837-4.211 and 0.054-0.078 in case of degradation material The proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from degrada-tion signals.

시멘트 복합체의 균열성장거동에 관한 프랙탈 해석 (Crack Growth Behavior of Cement Composites by Fractal Analysis)

  • 프랙탈 기하는 재료의 파괴거동과 같은 자연계에 존재하는 불규칙한 현상을 비정수의 프랙탈 차원으로 정량화할 수 있다. 이런. 프랙탈 차원에 기초하면 프랙탈 도형은 도형의 일부를 확대하면 전체와 같아지는 자기상사성 특성을 지닌다. 프랙탈적 해석방법을 시멘트 복합체의 파괴시의 균열성장거동에 적용하여 복합체의 미세구조와 파괴거동과의 관계를 알아볼 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 시멘트 복합체의 파괴시 소산되는 에너지와 균열의 프랙탈 차원과의 관계를 알아보는데 있다. 시멘트 복합체의 파괴실험을 실시하여 파괴에너지를 측정한 후, 파괴시 형성된 균열형상의 프랙탈 차원을 박스계수법을 통해 산정하고 그 관계를 알아보았다. 실험결과 프랙탈 차원과 파괴에너지의 관계는 비례관계를 나타냈으며 파괴에너지에 대한 프랙탈 차원의 정량적 평가가 가능하다고 사료된다.

FRACTAL ANALYSIS OF TIDAL CHANNEL USING HIGH RESOLUTION SATELLITE IMAGES

  • Tidal channel development is influenced by sediment type, grain size, composition and tidal current. Tidal channels are usually characterized by channel development, density and shape. Quantitative analysis of tidal channels using remotely sensed data have rarely been studied. The objective of this study is to quantify tidal channels in terms of fractal dimension and compare different inter-tidal channel patterns. For the fractal analysis, we used Box counting method which had been successfully applied to streams, coastlines and others linear features. For a study, the southern part of Ganghwado tidal flats was selected where is famous for high dynamics of tidal currents and vast tidal flats. This area has different widths and lengths of tidal channels. IKONOS and Komsat-2 MSC images were used for extracting tidal channels, and the Box counting method was applied to obtain fractal dimensions (D) for each tidal channel. Yeochari area possesses channels with linear pattern and less dense development and accordingly show low D values ranging from 1.037 to 1.038. On other hands, area (near Donggumdo and Yeongjongdo ) of dendrites channel pattern and dense development resulted in high D values from 1.2057 to 1.2667. Also, area possesses channels with linear pattern had low density about $18{\sim}24%$. Area of dendritic channel pattern had high density about $34{\sim}69%$. The difference of fractal dimensions about 0.2 according to channel development in tidal flats is relatively large enough to use as an index for tidal channel classification. Also, area where channels showed linear pattern had low density about $18{\sim}24%$. Area of dendritic channel pattern had high density about $34{\sim}69%$. Using fractal dimension and density, it would be possible to quantify the tidal channel development in association with surface characteristics.

Characterization of Surface Roughness and Inhomogeneity of Hot-Rolled Carbon Steels by Using Image Analysis Method and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

  • The present work is concerned with characterization of surface roughness and inhomogeneity of four kinds of hot-rolled carbon steels in terms of the fractal dimension and the depression parameter by using image analysis method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, respectively. From the analysis of the 3D AFM image, it is realized that all the hot-rolled steel surfaces show the self-affine fractal property. The values of the fractal dimension of the hot-rolled steels were determined by the analyses of the AFM images on the basis of both the perimeter-area method and the triangulation method. In addition, the Nyquist plots were found to be depressed from a perfect semicircle form. From the experimental findings, the changes in the values of the fractal dimension and the depression parameter with chemical composition have been discussed in terms of the change in the value of hardness of base steel.

구내방사선사진의 프랙탈 분석을 이용한 골다공증 예측 (Prediction of osteoporosis using fractal analysis on periapical radiographs)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the fractal dimension and radiographic image brightness of periapical radiograph were useful in predicting osteoporosis. Materials and Methods : Ninety-two postmenopausal women were classified as normal, osteopenia and osteoporosis group according to the bone mineral density of lumbar vertebrae and periapical radiographs of both mandibular molar areas were taken. The ROIs of 358 areas were selected at periapical and interdental areas and fractal dimension and radiographic image brightness were measured. Results : The fractal dimension in normal group was significantly higher than that in osteoporosis group at periapical ROI (P < 0.05). The radiographic image brightness in normal group was higher than that in osteopenia and osteoporosis group. There was significant difference not only between normal and osteopenia group (P < 0.05) but also within osteopenia and osteoporosis group (P< 0.01) at periapical ROI. Significant difference was observed not only between normal and osteopenia group but also between normal and osteoporosis group at interdental ROI (P< 0.01). Positive linear relationship was weakly shown at Pearson correlation analysis between fractal dimension and radiographic image brightness. BMD significantly correlated with fractal dimension at periapical ROI (P< 0.01), and BMD and radiographic image brightness significantly correlated at both periapical and interdental ROIs (P< 0.01). Conclusion : This study suggests that the fractal dimension and radiographic image brightness of periapical ROI may predict BMD. (Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol 2005: 35 : 41-6)

고해상도 위성 영상을 이용한 조류로의 프랙털 분석 (Fractal Analysis of Tidal Channel using High Resolution Satellite Image)

  • 조간대의 조류로 발달은 조간대 퇴적물 종류, 입도, 조성 및 조류의 세기 등에 많은 영향을 받는다. 조류로의 발달 특성, 밀도, 형태 등은 조간대의 특징을 분석하는데 활용될 수 있다. 그러나 조류로에 대한 정량적 분석은 시도되지 못하고 있다. 따라서 이번 연구의 목적은 고해상도 위성 영상 자료를 이용하여 조류로에 대한 프랙털 차원 결과와 조류로 발달에 영향을 주는 지형(DEM : Digital Elevation Model)을 비교 분석하는 것이다. 이번 연구에서는 프랙털 분석 중에서 하천 해안 등 선형의 특징에 많은 적용을 하는 box counting 방법을 이용하였다. 연구 지역은 조차가 심한 강화도 남단의 조간대이다. 연구 방법은 IKONOS 영상으로부터 조류로를 추출한 뒤 프랙털 차원을 구하였다. 그 결과 프랙털 차원은 약 $1.0{\sim}1.35$ 정도의 결과 값을 얻었다. 지형이 낮으며 채널의 발달이 미비한 지역(강화도 남단 여차리 부근)에서는 프랙털 차원이 약 $1.0{\sim}1.2$ 정도의 낮은 값을 가지는 반면에 지형이 높고 채널 발달이 수지상으로 잘 발달된 지역(영종도 북단)의 프랙털 차원은 약 $1.20{\sim}1.35$ 정도의 높은 값을 가진다. 이 분석으로부터 프랙털 분석으로 인하여 조류로의 정량적 분류가 가능하며 지역의 지형에 따라서 조류로의 발달 형태가 달라 프랙털 차원 값이 다르다는 결론을 얻었다.
