  • In this paper, poly methyl methacrylate thin films were deposited on a ITO glass substrate using a plasma polymerization technique. In order to investigate the influence of the plasma coupling method and plasma conditions on the plasma polymerized poly methyl methacrylate (ppMMA) thin film properties, inductively coupled (ICP) and capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) were used to generate the plasma and the plasma parameters were varied. Molecular structures of the ppMMAs were investigated using a Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Dielectric constants of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a impedance analyzer (HP4192A, LF Impedance Analyzer). Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a source measurement unit (SMU: Keithley 2400). Relationship between the plasma coupling technique/process parameter and ppMMA thin films properties were investigated.

In-situ 도핑된 M/NEMS용 다결정 3C-SiC 박막의 특성 (Characteristics of in-situ doped polycrystalline 3C-SiCthin films for M/NEMS applications)

  • This paper describes the electrical properties of poly (polycrystalline) 3C-SiC thin films with different nitrogen doping concentrations. In-situ doped poly 3C-SiC thin films were deposited by APCVD at $1200^{\circ}C$ using HMDS (hexamethyildisilane: $Si_2(CH_3)_6)$) as Si and C precursor, and $0{\sim}100$ sccm $N_2$ as the dopant source gas. The peak of SiC is appeared in poly 3C-SiC thin films grown on $SiO_2/Si$ substrates in XRD(X-ray diffraction) and FT-IR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) analyses. The resistivity of poly 3C-SiC thin films decreased from $8.35{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ with $N_2$ of 0 sccm to $0.014{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ with 100 sccm. The carrier concentration of poly 3C-SiC films increased with doping from $3.0819{\times}10^{17}$ to $2.2994{\times}10^{19}cm^{-3}$ and their electronic mobilities increased from 2.433 to $29.299cm^2/V{\cdot}S$, respectively.

  • 나노섬유를 제조하는 방법 중에는 상분리 현상을 이용한 방법, 자가 조립성을 이용한 방법, 템플레이트를 이용한 방법, 전기방사법이 있으며 특히 전기방사법은 연속적으로 균일한 나노섬유를 제조할 수 있다. 또한 전기방사법은 장비가 간단하며 고분자 blend ratio와 무기재료의 함량에 따라 뛰어난 특성을 나타내는 나노복합섬유를 만들 수 있다. 최근 식물에서 추출한 단백질을 전기방사법을 이용하여 나노입자 및 나노섬유를 제조하고 이를 의료 분야 등에 적용하기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 이런 식물성 단백질은 동물성 단백질에 비하여 인체 적용이 용이하고 매장량이 풍부한 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 전기방사법을 이용하여 옥수수에서 추출한 단백질인 zein의 나노입자 및 나노섬유를 제조하였다. 또한 천연 추출물이 혼입된 복합 나노입자 및 나노섬유를 제조하여 zein이 가진 고유 특성 이외에 천연 추출물의 특성을 추가로 부여해서 더욱 발전된 나노입자 및 나노섬유를 제조하였다. 고분자 농도, 전압, 방사거리 등 다양한 공정변수를 조절하여 최적의 조건을 확립하였으며 제조된 나노입자 및 나노섬유는 field-emission type scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV/vis), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)를 이용하여 특성분석을 실시하였다.

Butyl 및 Hexyl기가 도입된 다중벽 탄소나노튜브의 분산성 (Dispersibility of multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized with butyl and hexyl group)

  • 탄소나노튜브의 분산성을 개선하고자 다중벽 탄소나노튜브(multi-walled carbon nanotube, MWNT)를 초음파 반응기에서 butyllithium 및 hexyllithium solution을 이용하여 표면을 화학적으로 개질하였다. 개질된 MWNT는 적외선 분광분석 및 라만분광법을 이용하여 MWNT에 알킬기가 도입되었는지를 확인하였다. 또한, 열중량분석기를 이용하여 알킬기가 MWNT에 도입된 함량을 분석하였으며, MWNT 및 개질된 MWNT를 다양한 용매에 따른 분산성을 조사하였다. 그 결과 유기물의 함량은 5% 내외로 분석되었고 일정 범위내의 용해도 상수를 갖는 용매에 분산성이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, ITO gate electrode surface was modified using $O_2$ plasma and organic gate insulating layers were deposited on the ITO surface using plasma polymerization technique. In order to investigate the influence of the plasma coupling method and plasma conditions on the plasma polymerized methyl methacrylate (ppMMA) thin film properties, inductively coupled (ICP) and capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) were used to generate the plasma and the plasma parameters were varied. The ppMMAs were investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and a Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Dielectric constants of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a impedance analyzer (HP4192A, LF Impedance Analyzer). Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics of the organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) were investigated using a source measurement unit (SMU: Keithley 2612). Proposed method can be applied to dry-process to fabricate OTFTs during overall fabricating steps.

Antimicrobial Drug Release Scaffolds of Natural and Synthetic Biodegradable Polymers

  • A series of biodegradable polymeric scaffolds was prepared by using a combination of natural (collagen) and synthetic (poly(caprolactone)) (PCL) polymers in various compositions. These scaffolds were soft, spongy, porous and transparent in nature and were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The entrapment efficiency and drug release activity of the scaffolds were analyzed using penicillin and tetracycline as antimicrobial drugs. The drug release activity of the scaffolds with various combinations of collagen and PCL were studied by measuring the optical density in a spectrophotometer at the following time intervals: 1,4, 24, 48 and 60 h. These scaffolds showed better and continuous drug release for up to 60 h. Even after such a long duration, a portion of the drug remained entrapped in the scaffolds, indicating that they can be utilized for wound healing applications.

폴리카르복시 산 처리 면섬유의 DP가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Durable Press Finishing of Cotton Fiber Treated with Polycarboxylic Acid)

  • PTCA(1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid) and BTCA(1,2,3-butanetetracarboxylic acid) are selected as new nonformaldehyde agents for ester crosslinking of cotton cellulose to replace the traditional DMDHEU reagent. A goal of this research is to propose unknown ester mechanism of cotton cellulose by PTCA or BTCA using crystal structure model suggested by Meyer and Takahashi. In pursuit of these goals, we have treated 100% cotton broad cloth with PTCA or BTCA and different catalysts. They were used with $NaH_2PO_2,\;NaH_2PO_4,\;Na_2HPO_4,\;NaH_2PO_2,\;Na_3PO_4,$ catalysts to produce nonformaldehyde fabric finishes. Treatments were applied to all cotton fabrics using a pad-dry -cure process. The esterfication of cotton treated with BTCA or PTCA was investigated using Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectra and the breaking strength, abrasion retention and discoloration properties were determined to prove the durable finished fabrics. Patterns with respect to abrasion resistance were more complex. Because PTCA and BTCA add-ons were comparable, the data suggest that the more effective catalysts, $NaH_2PO_2$ and mixed phosphate $NaH_2PO_2/NaH_2PO_4$) are effecting either a great number of crosslinks in the cotton or producing crosslinks that differ in actual structure.

케나프로부터 리그닌 추출에 대한 전자선의 영향 (The Effect of Electron Beam Irradiation on the Extraction of Lignin from Kenaf)

  • Kenaf (Hibiscuc cannabinus L.) is a renewable resource for industry and kenaf lignin is syringyl-guaiacyl lignin. The electron beam irradiated on kenaf core various doses range from 200 to 1,000 kGy to improve delignification. The yield of lignin, which is 2.53 g from 10 g of electron beam irradiated kenaf core. A comparison extracted lignin between from native kenaf core and electron beam irradiated kenaf core was then studied through chemical structure and bonding property by a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Thermal stability of the extracted-purified lignin was performed via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). These results were explained that electron beam irradiation increased performance of extracting efficiency.

Ion Beam-based Surface Modification of Polyimide Films for Adhesion Improvement with Deposited Metal Layer

  • In this study, the surface of polyimide (PI) films was modified using ion implantation to enhance its adhesion to a deposited copper (Cu) layer. The surfaces of the PI films were implanted with 150 keV $Xe^+$ ions at fluences varying from $1{\times}10^{14}$ to $1{\time}10^{16}ions\;cm^{-2}$. The Cu layers were then deposited on the implanted PI. The surface properties of the implanted PI film were investigated based on the contact angle measurements, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Furthermore, the adhesive strength between the deposited Cu layer and PI film was estimated through a scratch test using a nanoindenter. As a result, the surface environment of the PI film was changed by the ion implantation, which could have a significant effect on the adhesion between the deposited Cu layer and the PI.

Exploration of structural, thermal and spectroscopic properties of self-activated sulfate Eu2(SO4)3 with isolated SO4 groups

  • $Eu_2(SO_4)_3$ was synthesized by chemical precipitation method and the crystal structure was determined by Rietveld analysis. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic space group C2/c. In the air environment, $Eu_2(SO_4)_3$ is stable up to $670^{\circ}C$. The sample of $Eu_2(SO_4)_3$ was examined by Raman, Fourier-transform infrared absorption and luminescence spectroscopy methods. The low site symmetry of $SO_4$ tetrahedra results in the appearance of the IR inactive ${\nu}_1$ mode around $1000cm^{-1}$ and ${\nu}_2$ modes below $500cm^{-1}$. The band intensities redistribution in the luminescent spectra of $Eu^{3+}$ ions is analyzed in terms of the peculiarities of its local environment.
