Digital watermarking is to embed imperceptible mark into image, video, audio and text data to prevent the illegal copy of multimedia data, arbitrary modification, and also illegal sales of the copes without agreement of copyright ownership. The DCT(discrete Cosine Transforms) transforms of original image is conducted in this research and these DCT coefficients are expanded by Fourier series expansion algorithm. In order to embed the imperceptible and robust watermark, the Fourier coefficients(lower frequency coefficients) can be calculated using sine and cosine function which have a complete orthogonal basis function, and the watermark is embedded into these coefficients, In the experiment, we can show robustness with respect to image distortion such as JPEG compression, bluring and adding uniform noise. The correlation coefficient are in the range from 0.5467 to 0.9507.

Little attention has been paid to the functional aspect of the flower petal of Paeonia lactiflora, compared to that of its root. To determine the components of flower petal of Paeonia lactiflora, we conducted the Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) MASS spectrophotometric analysis. We detected the 24 different types of ingredients from the 70% ethanol extracts of flower petal of peonia lactiflora cv. ‘Red Charm’. The main compounds were quercetin glucopyranosides, methyl gallate, paonioflolol and kaemperol glucopyranosides. We further tested its functional activity. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity of the extracts was 87.9-90.4% at 0.1mg/ml. This result showed that these flower extracts have approximately 5-fold stronger antioxidant potential than a previous report with root extracts (Bang et al. 1999). The result of tyrosinase inhibition assay of Paeonia lactflora extract was almost similar to that of arbutin except significantly higher effect in the coral sunset extract at 0.1% concentration. Hyaluronidase inhibition assay showed 76.5% inhibition at 5% concentration of this flower extract, indicating that Peaonia lactiflora flower extracts have the major anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and brightening effects. Taken together, these results suggest these three Paeonia lactiflora species extracts might provide the basis to develop a new natural brightening agent.
Wavelet transform has been widely used in terms that it may overcome the shortcoming of conventional Fourier transform. Fourier transform has its difficulty to explain how the transformed domain, frequency, is related with time. Traditional semblance technique in Fourier transform was devised to compare two time series on the basis of their phase as a function of frequency. But this method is known not to work well for the non-stationary signal. In this study, we present two applications of the wavelet-based semblance method to geophysical data. Firstly, we show filtered geomagnetic signal remained with components of high correlation to each observatory. Secondly, highly correlated residual signal of gravity and magnetic survey data, which are also filtered by this semblance method, is present.

An 'associative cube', a class of auto-associative memories, is revisited here, in which training data and hidden orthogonal basis functions such as wavelet packets or Fourier kernels, are combined in the weight cube. This weight cube has hidden units in its depth, represented by a three dimensional cubic structure. We develop an unsupervised incremental learning mechanism based upon the adaptive least squares method. Training data are mapped into orthogonal basis vectors in a least-squares sense by updating the weights which minimize an energy function. Therefore, a prescribed orthogonal kernel is incrementally assigned to an incoming data. Next, we show how a decoding procedure finds the closest one with a competitive network in the hidden layer. As noisy test data are applied to an associative cube, the nearest one among the original training data are restored in an optimal sense. The simulation results confirm robustness of associative cubes even if test data are heavily distorted by various types of noise.
The basis function of wavelet transform used in this paper is constructed by using lifting scheme, which is different from general wavelet transform. Lifting scheme is a new biorthogonal wavelet con-structing method, that does not use Fourier transform for constructing its basis function. In this paper, an image compression and reconstruction method using the lifting scheme was proposed. And this method improves data visualization by supporting a partial reconstruction and a local reconstruction. Approx- imations at various resolutions allow extracting various sizes of feature from an image or signal with a small amount of original information. An approximation with small size of scaling coefficients gives a brief outline of features at fast. Image compression and edge detection techniques provide good frame- works for data management and visualization in multimedia database.
Analytical solutions to problems are crucial because they provide high-quality comparison data for assessing the accuracy of numerical solutions. Benchmark analytical solutions for the vibrations of cracked functionally graded material (FGM) plates are not available in the literature because of the high level of complexity of such solutions. On the basis of first-order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT), this study proposes analytical series solutions for the vibrations of FGM rectangular plates with side or internal cracks parallel to an edge of the plates by using Fourier cosine series and the domain decomposition technique. The distributions of FGM properties along the thickness direction are assumed to follow a simple power law. The proposed analytical series solutions are validated by performing comprehensive convergence studies on the vibration frequencies of cracked square plates with various crack lengths and under various boundary condition combinations and by performing comparisons with published results based on various plate theories and the theory of three-dimensional elasticity. The results reveal that the proposed solutions are in excellent agreement with literature results obtained using the Ritz method on the basis of FSDT. The paper also presents tabulations of the first six nondimensional frequencies of cracked rectangular Al/Al2O3 FGM plates with various aspect ratios, thickness-to-width ratios, crack lengths, and FGM power law indices under six boundary condition combinations, the tabulated frequencies can serve as benchmark data for assessing the accuracy of numerical approaches based on FSDT.
Response spectra of earthquake ground motions are important in the earthquake-resistant design and reliability analysis of structures. The formulation of the response spectrum in the frequency domain efficiently computes and evaluates the stochastic response spectrum. The frequency information of the excitation can be described using different functional forms. The shapes of the calculated response spectra of the excitation show strong magnitude and site dependency, but weak distance dependency. In this paper, to compare the effect of the earthquake ground motion variables, the contribution of these sources of variability to the response spectrum's uncertainty is calculated by using a stochastic analysis. The analytical results show that earthquake source factors and soil condition variables are the main sources of uncertainty in the response spectra, while path variables, such as distance, anelastic attenuation and upper crust attenuation, have relatively little effect. The presented formulation of dynamic structural response in frequency domain based only on the frequency information of the excitation can provide an important basis for the structural analysis in some location that lacks strong motion records.

The application of compressive sensing (CS) to a radar imaging system based on a frequency-scanned microstrip leaky wave antenna is investigated. First, an analytical model of the system matrix is formulated as the basis for the inversion algorithm. Then, $L_1-norm$ minimization is applied to the inverse problem to generate a range-azimuth image of the scene. Because of the antenna length, the near-field effect is considered in the CS formulation to properly image close-in targets. The resolving capability of the combined frequency-scanned antenna and CS processing is examined and compared to results based on the short-time Fourier transform and the pseudo-inverse. Both simulation and measurement data are tested to show the system performance in terms of image resolution.

In this paper, we consider the problem of capacitance matrix calculation for strip-line and other interconnects crossings. The problem is formulated in the spectral domain using the method of moments. Sinc-functions are employed as basis functions. Conventionally, such a formulation leads to a large, non-sparse system of linear equations in which the calculation of each of the coefficient requires the evaluation of a Fourier-Bessel integral. Such calculations are computationally very intensive. In the method proposed here, we provide simplified expressions for the coefficients in the moment method matrix. Using these simplified expressions, the coefficients can be calculated very efficiently. This leads to a fast evaluation of the capacitance matrix of the structure. Computer simulations are provided illustrating the validity of the method proposed.

A study of fee vibration of circular Mindlin plates is presented. The analysis is based on the pseudospctral method, which uses Chebyshev polynomials and Fourier series as basis functions. It Is demonstrated that rapid convergence and accuracy as well as the conceptual simplicity could be achieved when the pseudospectral method was apt)lied to the solution of eigenvalue problems. Numerical examples of circular Mindlin plates with clamped and simply supported boundary conditions are provided for various thickness-to-radius ratios.
