Smart antenna algorithm for CDMA downlink beam-forming (CDMA 하향링크의 빔 성형을 위한 스마트 안테나 알고리즘)

  • Beam-forming method based on the estimated channel information at the base station degrade the performance mismatching directional vector in case of systems which Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) center frequency of uplink and downlink are different. Also blind estimation technique which is to obtain directional vector of reverse link through received signal has disadvantage of hardware complexity increase. To solve these problems, in present paper, a smart antenna algorithm which is to improve the beam-forming complexity increase due to user number by appling the spatial fourier transform to be able to beam- forming toward a wanted direction through adjusting a obtained uplink weight function by estimating Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) to the competable form at the downlink is proposed. The proposed algorithm is integrated to the CDMA downlink transmitter and simulations are performed to confirm the performance as frame error rate at the receiver. As a result, the beam forming effect is confirmed and the performance gain with the proposed algorithm is comparable to ordinary smart antenna system.

An Experimental Study on Incremental Roll Forming Process for Manufacturing Doubly Curved Ship Hull Plates (이중 곡률을 가지는 선박용 외판 성형을 위한 점진적 롤 성형 공정의 적용에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In order to manufacture a doubly curved sheet metal, the incremental roll forming process which adopts advantages such as the flexibility of the incremental forming process and continuous bending deformation of the roll forming process has been experimentally investigated. An experimental equipment was developed which was named as unit roll set (URS) consisting of two pairs of support rolls and an upper center roll. The upper roll equipped with the servo control unit is motor-driven and can be positioned in the vertical direction according to the user's commands. Four support rolls are idle, and they freely rotate only along the axis so as to transfer the plate more stably in the tangential direction of the rotation of the driving roll. In the process, the plate is deformed incrementally as deformation proceeds simultaneously in longitudinal and transverse directions. Through the experiments using URS, information regarding to forming schedules is found out to fabricate curved hull plates. This study demonstrates the further application of the incremental roll forming process in shipbuilding industries.

Forming Gas Post Metallization Annealing of Recessed AlGaN/GaN-on-Si MOSHFET

  • In this study, the effects of forming gas post metallization annealing (PMA) on recessed AlGaN/GaN-on-Si MOSHFET were investigated. The device employed an ICPCVD $SiO_2$ film as a gate oxide layer on which a Ni/Au gate was evaporated. The PMA process was carried out at $350^{\circ}C$ in forming gas ambient. It was found that the device instability was improved with significant reduction in interface trap density by forming gas PMA.

  • The characteristic of magnesium alloy is the most light in utility metal, the effect of electromagnetic wave interception, excellent specific strength and absorptiveness of vibration. Although magnesium alloy with above characteristic is a subject matter which is suitable in world-wide tendency of electrical component frame, sheet magnesium alloy is difficult to process. Therefore, forming analysis of sheet magnesium alloy and applying warm-working to process are indispensable. Among Finite element method, the static implicit finite element method is applied effectively to analyze sheet magnesium alloy stamping process, which include the forming stage. In this study, it was focused on the crack, wrinkling and spring back on sheet magnesium alloy stamping by the static implicit analysis. According to this study, the result of simulation will give engineers good information to access the forming technique on sheet magnesium alloy. And its application is being increased especially in the production of electrical component frame for the cost reduction, saving of defective ratio, and improvement of Productivity.

  • Process sequence design in sheet metal forming process by the finite element method is investigated. The forming of sheet metal into a washing machine container is used to demonstrate the design of an improved process sequence which has fewer operations. The design procedure makes extensive use of the finite element method which has simulation capabilities of elastic-plastic modeling. A one-stage process to make an initial blank to the final product is simulated to obtain information on metal flow requirements. Loading simulation for a conventional method is also performed to evaluate the design criteria which are uniform thickness distribution around the finished part and maximum punch load within limit of available press capacity. The newly designed sequence has two forming operations and can achieve net-shape manufacturing, while the conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case conventional process sequence has three forming operations. This specific case can be considered for application of the method and for development of the sequence design methodology in general.

  • The manufacturing of metal bellows consists of the four main forming processes, deep-drawing, ironing, tube bulging and folding. Among these, the bulging and folding processes are critically important because the quality of metal bellows is greatly influenced by the forming conditions of these processes. In the present study, the finite element analysis technique is applied to the bulging and folding processes to obtain information about the design parameters of a metal bellows.

By comparing the punch load found by FEM with a proposed friction model with experimental measurement when the coated and uncoated steel sheets are formed in 2-D geometry in dry and lubricant conditions, the validity and accuracy of the developed friction model are demonstrated.

  • In this study, a magnetic stimulation (MS) device with controllable pulse forming technology and pulse shape (MS) is described. The MS device uses an IGBT with appropriate snubbers to switch coil currents up to 6 kA, enabling pulse forming technology control from 5 s to over 100 s. The induced electric field pulses use 2% - 34% less energy and generate 57% - 67% less coil heating compared to matched conventional cosine pulses. MS is used to stimulate rhesus monkey motor cortex in vivo with pulse forming technology of 20 to 100 s, demonstrating the expected decrease of threshold pulse amplitude with increasing pulse forming technology. The technological solutions used in the MS prototype can expand functionality, and reduce power consumption and coil heating in MS, enhancing its research and therapeutic applications.

  • The development of hull curved plate forming automation system in ship production field begins from the need of stakeholders such as enterprise organization, who need the reduction of cost and time and improvement of productivity, and end users who work for this production process. Even though hull curved plate forming automation system has small scale, it is reasonable to consider the system as an interdisciplinary system, because the system includes all of hardware, software, human and information and has a specified objective to be performed. In this paper, introduction of 4 leading Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)methodologies is described and SysML(Systems Modeling Language), which is designed to analyze, specify, design, and verify complex systems, is introduced in order to support those methodologies. Especially, SysML is applied to system modeling of hull curved plate forming automation system and focused on. The structure diagrams and behavior diagrams based on operational context of the automation system are used to make system architecture. The performed application of SysML to the hull curved plate forming automation system shows an example of applying SysML to the development of other autonomous systems in ship production domain.
