An Efficient Clustering Scheme Considering Node Density in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 노드 밀도를 고려한 효율적인 클러스터링 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new clustering scheme that provides optimal data aggregation effect and reduces energy consumption of nodes by considering the density of nodes when forming clusters. Since the size of the cluster is determined to ensure optimal data aggregation rate, our scheme reduces transmission range and minimizes interference between clusters. Moreover, by clustering using locally adjacent nodes and aggregating data received from cluster members, we reduce energy consumption of nodes. Through simulation, we confirmed that energy consumption of the whole network is minimized and the sensor network life-time is extended. Moreover, we show that the proposed clustering scheme improves the performance of network compared to previous LEACH clustering scheme.

Flat Fluorescent Lamp(EEL) and LCD TV Backlight Using EEL as a Light Source (면광원 램프 및 이를 이용한 LCD TV용 백라이트)

  • A flat fluorescent lamp (FFL) was developed as a light source for LCD TV Backlight. The channels of FFL were realized by forming the flat glass at high temperature. The performance of the backlight with FFL was shown to improve by optimizing the FFL channel profile that has elliptical shape, 4.4 mm height and 1.4 mm sealing distance. In this paper, the brightness uniformity of LCD TV backlights was investigated by optical simulation of FFL channel profiles. The brightness of LCD TV using FFL with the optimized channel profile was shown to be $576\;cd/m^2$.

Design of punch shape for reducing the punch wear in the backward extrusion (후방 압출 펀치의 마멸 저감을 위한 금형 형상 설계)

  • Die design to minimize the die wear in the cold forging process is very important as it reduce the production cost and the increase of the production rate. The quantitative estimation for the die wear is too hard because the prediction of the die wear is determined with many process variables. So, in this paper, the optimal shape of the backward extrusion punch is newly designed through the FE-analysis considering the surface expansion and Archard's wear model in order to reduce the rapid wear rate that is generated for the backward extrusion product exceeding the forming limit. The main shape variables of the backward extrusion punch are the flat, angle, and round of the punch nose part. As the flat and angle of the punch nose are larger, the surface expansion is reduced. and, the wear rate is decreased according to the reduction of the punch round. These results obtained through this study are applied to the real manufacturing process, it is implemented the reduction of the wear rate.

  • In this paper, the elastic deformation of cold forging die has been investigated to improve the accuracy of forged parts with FEM analysis and experiments using the strain gages. In the finite element analysis, two types of analysis are used to predict elastic deformation of die. The one is that dies are considered to be elastic body from initial stage to final one, and the other is that the dies are considered to be rigid body during forging simulation and then considered to be elastic body at elastic analysis. Considering the results of analysis and experiments, it is likely that the analytical results are in good agreement with experimental inspections. The method using the elastic assumption of die relatively takes a lot of time to simulate the forming operation. However, It is better that using an elastic die to predict not only the shape of product but also filling of die cavity.

  • Direction of arrival is estimating for desire signal direction among received signal on antenna in spatial. In this paper, we were an estimation a receiving signal direction of arrival using multi beam forming in radar. We proposed, by signal direction of arrival estimation method, an algorithm which combine spatial correlation matrix weight value and beam steering algorithm in this paper. Through simulation, we were analysis a performance to compare general algorithm and proposal algorithm. In direction of arrival estimation, proposed algorithm is effectivity to decrease processing time because it is not doing an eigen decomposition. We showed that proposal algorithm improve more target estimation than general algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a modified Duvall beamformer performing spatial smoothing with spatial interpolation. In the proposed beamformer, virtual array signals are generated by spatial interpolation between each neighbor array elements, then all signals are used to perform spatial smoothing. The proposed beamformer overcomes the loss of degrees of freedom caused by spatial smoothing by forming subarrays with interpolated signals. Mathematical description shows that the proposed beamformer can restore the rank of away covariance matrix. Accordingly, the proposed beamformer can minimize the loss of degrees of freedom. Simulation results show that the proposed beamformer can remove all coherent interferences while conventional beamformers cannot.

  • This study propose a new approach to control the optimal working path of vertical type articulated robot with translation joint for trimming working process automation in forging manufacturing process. The basic structure of the proposed robotic joints controller consists of a Proportional-Intergral controller and a Proportional-Derivative controller in parallel. The proposed control scheme takes advantage of the properties of the fuzzy PID controllers. The proposed method is suitable to control of the trajectory and path control in cartesian space for vertical type articulated robot manipulator. The results illustrates that the proposed fuzzy computed torque controller is more stable and robust than the conventional computed torque controller. The reliability is varified by simulation test for vertical type s articulated robot with seven joints including one trqanslation joint.

Case Study on Education of Metal Forming Simulation Practice Subject through Industry-linked Project Based Learning (산업체 연계 프로젝트 기반 학습(PBL)을 활용한 성형해석 실습 교과목 운영 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct Project Based Learning (PBL) in collaboration with industry experts to operate practical subjects in an industry-university-linked teaching method. PBL is a teaching method in which students can learn through actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. For a long period of time, PBL methodologies have been found to be especially effective in engineering education. This case study deals with the operational results of a practice subject which has been conducted over three years from 2017 to 2019 in Korea University of Technology and Education. The course is for the 4th grade students in the school of mechatronics engineering. The results of the surveyed learning outcomes (for example, Program Outcomes and Course Learning Outcomes) have been analyzed and reflected in the next years for the Continuous Quality Improvement. By working on practical projects linked to industry, students have been able to develop so-called 4C's capabilities which are Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration.

A Study on Fabrication of Inner Structure Plate with Micro Corrugated Using Press Forming (프레스 공정을 이용한 미세 골판형 내부구조재 제작에 관한 연구)

  • Sandwich structures, which are composed of a thick core between two faces, are commonly used in many engineering applications because they combine high stiffness and strength with low weight. Accordingly, the usage of sandwich structure is very widely applied to the aircraft, the automobile and marine industry, etc., because of these advantages. In this paper, we have investigated the buckling protection of an inner structure plate and the useful corrugated configuration for contact, and the fabrication method of the inner structure plate for large area using the continuous molding process. Also, we have guaranteed the accuracy of the molding process through the micro corrugated mold fabrication and secured the accuracy and analyzed aspect properties of the inner structure plate fabricated for a large area using the partial mold process. We have compared molding simulation according to the aspect thickness of the corrugated configuration with the molding experiment results.
