Generally, form factor is determined through ITTC method. Determining the form factor from ITTC method includes the assumption that the form factor of a full-scale ship is the same value as its model ship. In other words, the form factor is independent on Reynolds number. However, for the more appropriate prediction of the resistance performance of a full-scale ship, the form factor must be determined with the consideration of the variation attendant on Reynolds number. In this research, several Geosim ship models are adopted to investigate the scale effect, and correlation lines of form factor are improved to suggest the better extrapolation method for the prediction of the form factor of full-scale ship. The corrected form factors using the correlation lines are compared with those determined from the results of low-speed resistance tests. To consider the influence of hull form, the correlation lines are determined for the group of high-speed ships and the group of low-speed ships, respectively. The corrected form factors have shown good agreement among the prediction results from each Geosim ship model to the full-scale ship.

The problem of predicting a ship's form factor and associated scale effects has been subject to many investigations in recent years. In this study, an attempt is made to investigate whether the form factor is influenced by a change in the ship's speed by numerically modelling a geosim series of the KCS hull form by means of a RANS solver. The turbulence dependence of the problem is also studied by altering the closure model among three widely used approaches (the k-𝜔, k-𝜔 SST, and k-𝜀 models). The results show that at very low speeds (Froude numbers in the range of 0.02-0.06) the numerical model predicts changes in the form factor of a ship between 10% and 20%, depending on the turbulence model and scale factor choices. As the speed is increased further, the form factor exhibits little change, usually in the range of 1% or less. Simulations where the Reynolds number is changed by approximately two orders of magnitude, achieved by altering the value of viscosity, confirmed that the form factor can be considered Froude-dependent only for low speeds, predicting essentially identical values when high speed cases are considered.

In order to study the problem on form factor of hull form, towing test of a full ship model was carried out for different initial trims under both full and half load conditions. The results were fully discussed on the mutual relations among initial trim, mean sinkage and trim change in run, and form factor. There exists optimum initial trim in regard to form factor. Mean sinkage and trim change in run can be expressed in a uninominal approximation in the form of $k_i{\cdot}{F_n}^{2.2}$. The coefficients of this approxmation are related linearly with the initial trim. Form factor changes according to Froude number. It is considered that the trim change in run is a main reason of the fact.
Manning's roughness factor to flow in sand-bed channels may be divided into the grain roughness factor nd the form roughness factor. The grain roughness factor may be dedermined by using Keulegan's formula. By using available experimental data, it was found there is a unique relationship between the form roughness and the hydraulic radius to sediment particle size ratio for a given value of the Froude number. The form roughness and the bed form may be determined by using this unique relationship. The technique for engineering applications of the results appears to be quite simple.

This paper gave a review of form factor computations in the luminous flux transfer method and practical application of DiLaura's recently developed form factor computation. A systematic analysis of how the results of a contour integration solution differ from those of existing numeric solutions were undertaken with a developed computer simulation program. Various situations between sending and receiving surfaces were considered, including the facing, size, and distance between surfaces.

The efforts of formulation have been reviewed and the results of existing laboratory experiments are investigated in order to describe the contracted flow which occurs at the final closure of sea dike construction. The regional characteristics of contracted flow is analyzed by checking the drawdown curve, and Chezy's mean velocity equation is employed to estimate the discharge rate at the closure. Weir-type discharge equations are reviewed, which are derived from Bernoulli equation, and the problems of the equations are discussed. Chezy's mean velocity equation is considered to be widely and generally applicable, and the empirical factor introduced in Chezy's equation is named 'form drag factor' since it is primarily dependent on the form drag caused by the contraction of discharge area. Laboratory experiments were conducted mainly in order to investigate the variation of form drag factor against various parameters, and an empirical equation is developed for the estimation of form drag factor.

Objectives: This study was conducted to develop and validate Eating Behaviors Test form (EBT) for infants and young children, including eating behaviors of their parents and parental feeding practices. Methods: Draft version of EBT form was developed after a pretest on 83 mothers. It was consisted of 42 questions including 3 components; eating behavior of children, eating behavior of parents, and parental feeding practices. Using these questionnaires, the first survey was conducted on 320 infants and children, 1 to 6 year old, for exploratory factor analysis, and the second survey was collected on 731 infants and children for confirmatory factor analysis. Results: Exploratory factor analysis on 42 questions of EBT form resulted in 3 factor model for children's eating behavior, 3 factor model for parents' eating behavior, and 1 factor model for parental feeding practices. Three factors for children's eating behavior could be explained as follows; factor 1, pickiness (reliability ${\alpha}=0.89$; explanation of variance=27.79), factor 2, over activity (${\alpha}=0.80$, explanation of variance=16.51), and factor 3, irregularity (${\alpha}=0.59$, explanation of variance=10.01). Three factors for mother's eating behavior could be explained as follows; factor 1,irregularities (${\alpha}=0.73$, explanation of variance=21.73), factor 2, pickiness (${\alpha}=0.65$, explanation of variance= 20.16), and factor 3, permissiveness (${\alpha}=0.60$, explanation of variance=19.13). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed an acceptance fit for these models. Internal consistencies for these factors were above 0.6. Conclusions: Our results indicated that EBT form is a valid tool to measure comprehensive eating and feeding behaviors for infants and young children.
Among the currently used knowledge-based authentication methods for smartphones, text and graphic-based authentication methods, such as PIN and pattern methods, use a display unit and a touch function of the display unit for input/output of secret information. Recently released smartphone form factors are trying to transform into various forms, away from the conventional bar and slate types because of the material change of the display unit used in the existing smartphone and the increased flexibility of the display unit. However, as mentioned in the study of D. Choi [1], the structural change of the display unit may directly or indirectly affect the authentication method using the display unit as the main input/output device for confidential information, resulting in unexpected security vulnerabilities. In this paper, we analyze the security vulnerabilities of the current mobile user authentication methods that is applied atypical form factor. According to the analysis results, it seems that the existing display-dependent mobile user authentication methods do not consider emerging security threats at all. Furthermore, it is easily affected by changes in the form factor of smartphones. Finally, we propose countermeasures for security vulnerabilities expected when applying conventional authentication methods to atypical form factor-based smartphones.

In this paper, we extracted descending slope tracing waves (DSTW) and form factors (FF), and compared the detecting results of premature ventricular contraction (PVC) which were derived from DSTW and FF in order to find an efficient method. The 2nd. derivatives and DSTW were employed to extract correct R-waves from ECG. To evaluate extracting methods, ECGs including PVCs from MIT/BIH database were used.

Objectives: To simplify the mindfulness scale and to ensure reliability and validity of the scale. Methods: To develop scale items using the original scale and to identify factor structure of the scale, exploratory factor analysis was conducted based on results of factor analysis, the short-form 5-factor mindfulness scale item was selected. Internal consistency coefficient was calculated and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to verify reliability of the short-form scale. Finally, to verify validity of the abbreviated scale, we conducted correlation analysis with the abbreviated scale and the mindfulness scale (FFMQ). Results: As with the original scales, scaled scales were composed of 5 factors and consisted of 15 items in total. Factor analysis revealed factor loadings were adequate and reliability and validity were secured. Conclusions: It provided that mindfulness shortening scale validation can be used more simply to measure mindfulness in the clinical scene.
