Breeding habitat includes of mixes and deciduous trees and ravine forest, ranging from small to large areas and it used make a new nest and fix up the old nest at Goshawk. Goshawk make nests on Japanese larch Larix leptolepis, Japanese red pine Pinus densiflora and Pitch pine Pinus rigidae of $15.8{\pm}2.36m$ (range=7.4~18.7m) in height and $34.6{\pm}7.38cm$ (range=20.8~47.4cm) in diameter-at-breast height (DBH). It has $135.8{\pm}3.37cm$ in outer diameter of nest, $26.2{\pm}2.39cm$ in inner diameter, $7.1{\pm}1.41cm$ of depth, and $3.1{\pm}0.40Kg$ of weight. Breeding habitat (n=13) has 5~7 nests. It has 7 (53.8%) nest in fix up the old nest and 4 (30.8%)nests in make a new nest.

  • This study was carried out to assess the improved aspects of ecological conditions in a small stream, where eco-technological restorations such as gabion-crib mattress arrangement and soil-arresting wicker fence work had already been made up to stabilize the physically and ecologically damaged streambank. Six metrics by diatoms including species richness, Shannon diversity, saprobic index by DAIpo, percent sensitive diatoms, percent of Achnanthes minutissima, dominant index were analysed to assess the ecological integrity of small stream. By generalizing the changed values of six metrics on the stream flow from upper point(ST.1) to lower point(ST.3), it was found that the effect value of ecological condition improvement went up to as much as 33.9% on the average. The results suggested that eco-technological restoration treatment applied to this study is considerably effective for preserving the ecological integrity of small stream.

  • This study is conducted to analyze the change of location and soil characteristics effect on the condition of urban forest in Urban Park and Green Open Space The results of this study are as fallows; 1. Soil acidity is indicated pH 3.88 in Sasang park, pH 4.38 in Hwaji park, pH 4.40 in Daeyeon park, pH 4.68 in Sanseong amusement park, pH 5.15 in Molundae amusement park. 2. Species diversity indices of indicated Sasang park 0.9932, Hwaji park 1.1975, Daeyeon park 1.2160, Sanseong amusement park 1.3080, Molundae amusement park 1.3233 is due to location and soil environment in addition to air pollution effects. 3. The vitality of Pinus thunbergii 27.5ER in Sasang park, 24.9ER in Hwaji park, 24.5ER in Daeyeon park, 23.6ER in Sanseong amusement park, 21.0ER in Molundae park. This shows that tree vitality are impacted by location and soil characteristics. On the basis of the result above, vegetation devices are suggested : 1) Robinica pseudo-acacia management, 2) removing the hazard plants; Smilax china, Humulus japonicus, Pueraria thungergiana, 3) improving soil hardness and soil acidity.

  • The objective of this study was to exam early stages of plant growth of Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald and Gold' and Hedera japonica grown in fabric felt bag attached on vertical greenery system with the ratio of hydrophilic polymer to substrate, 0(referred as Control), 0.1, 0.2, or 0.4% (v/v), in order to effectively utilize rainfall for low maintenance. After rainfall, the increase in volumetric water content of substrate amended with the hydrophilic polymer was between 13% and 87%, compared to that in Control. During drought period, higher ratio of hydrophilic polymer to substrate slowly decreased the volumetric water content, and increased plant height, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves, branch number, and stem diameter of both Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald and Gold' and Hedera japonica with the highest fresh and dry weights of shoots or roots under the 0.1% ratio of hydrophilic polymer.
