Through the Standard of MCCB, the Adjustable Type Instant Trip Unit should NO trip at -20% of each current from $5{\times}In$ to $10{\times}In$ and trip +20% of those. In this paper, we obtain the attraction force between Fixing Magnet and Moving Armature. So we first made some samples. do experiments of weight, and simulated the modelling by 3D Maxwell S/W. With values of experiment and simulated values, we do design instant trip springs by using the ADAMS S/W of kinematic simulation. Finally we product the 250A Adjustable Instant Trip Unit, and it is very useful to our customers.
Recently, lateral jet has been adopted as an effective control device for high maneuverable tactical missiles in supersonic regime. Aerodynamic interference caused by the lateral jet can be categorized into two phenomena : local interaction redistributing surface pressure near the jet exit region and downstream interaction affecting tail control effectiveness. As part of on-going research, this paper deals with the aerodynamic modeling to predict the variation of force and moment when lateral jet of is activated on the missile body. For this purpose, a series of numerical simulation has been performed and the results are presented. Using the information obtained by CFD, aerodynamic model of preliminary level has been constructed and is reviewed. Some relevant comparison with wind tunnel tests are presented.
The concept of structural vibration control is to absorb vibration energy of the structure by introducing auxiliary devices. Various types of structural vibration control theories and devices have been recently developed and introduced into mechanical systems. One of such devices is damper employing controllable fluids such as ElectroRheological (ER) or MagnetoRheological (MR) fluids. MagnetoRheological (MR) materials are suspensions of fine magnetizable ferromagnetic particles in a non-magnetic medium exhibiting controllable rheological behaviour in the presence of an applied magnetic field. This paper presents the modelling of an MRfluid damper. The damper model is developed based on Newtonian shear flow and Bingham plastic shear flow models. The geometric parameters are varied to get the optimised damper characteristics. The numerical analysis is carried out to estimate the damping coefficient and damping force. The analytical results are compared with the experimental results. The results confirm that MR damper is one of the most promising new semi-active devices for structural vibration control.
The capabilities of finite elements codes allow now accurate simulations of blanking processes when appropriate materials modelling are used. Over the last decade, numerous numerical studies have focused on the influence of process parameters such as punch-die clearance, tools geometry and friction on blanking force and blank profile. In this study, three dimensional finite element analysis is carried out to design a lead frame blanking die using LS-Dyna3D package. After design of the blanking die, an experiment is also carried out to investigate the characteristics of blanking for nickel alloy Alloy42, a kind of IC lead frame material. In this paper, it has been researched the investigation to examine the influence of process parameters such as clearance and air cylinder pressure on the accuracy of sheared plane. Through the experiment results, it is shown that the quality of sheared plane is less affected by clearance and air cylinder pressure.

Inductive dynamic drives (IDD) are ultra rapid actuators where the moving part (disc) is subjected to impulse force. This paper presents the second model of inductive dynamic drive - a mechanical model where analytic- numerical approach was applied. The magnetic pressure, which was determined on the basis of the results obtained in the electrodynamic model, becomes the input data for mechanical model. Research with application of the mechanical model is necessary in order to determine the proper disc oscillation frequency and to obtain the stress state control for drive elements to be designed. Also, the selection of drive parameters to keep the disc deformation insignificant (while oscillating) is a condition under which these models do not need to be coupled together.
Steering system is typically one of the vehicle parts that may injure an unrestrained driver in a frontal collision. Therefore, the engineers of vehicle safety parts researched the allowable injury criteria such as HIC(head injury criterion). chest acceleration and knee impact force. From their research, they recognized that development of energy absorbing steering system was necessary to protect the driver. Energy absorbing parts of steering system consist of shear capsule, ball sleeve and shaft assembly. We performed the modelling and dynamic analysis of the energy absorbing steering column with the unrestrained driver model. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) The variation of column angle has an important effects on the dynamic responses of steering system and driver behavior. 2) The energy absorbing steering system satisfies the safety criterion of FMVSS 203, 208, but not the safety criterion of FMVSS 204.
This paper deals with an estimation method of the airfield capacity for the airlift operation. In the US Air Force, airfield capacities has been estimated using MOG(Maximum -On-the-Ground) concept, which is known to having several weaknesses. Recently, RAND suggests a personal-computer- based model called the Airfield Capacity Estimator(ACE), which is a more advanced and realistic technique compared to the MOG. This paper attempts to modify the ACE appropriate to the Korean airlift operation. While ACE is developed on the basis of strategic mobilization, Korean airlift operation is done on the tactical basis. A designed mdel is tested with simulation technique.
In the paper, a fractional derivative Kelvin-Voigt model describing the dynamic behavior of a special class of fluid viscous dampers, is presented. First of all, in order to verify their mechanical properties, two devices were tested the former behaving as a pure damper (PD device), whereas the latter as an elastic-damping device (ED device). For both, quasi-static and dynamic tests were carried out under imposed displacement control. Secondarily, in order to describe their cyclical behavior, a model composed by an elastic and a damping element connected in parallel was defined. The elastic force was assumed as a linear function of the displacement whereas the damping one was expressed by a fractional derivative of the displacement. By setting an appropriate numerical algorithm, the model parameters (fractional derivative order, damping coefficient and elastic stiffness) were identified by experimental results. The estimated values allowed to outline the main parameter properties on which depend both the elastic as well as the damping behavior of the considered devices.
In this paper, a hybrid scaled boundary finite element and finite volume method (SBFEM-FVM) is proposed for simulating hydraulic-fracture propagation in brittle concrete materials. As a semi-analytical method, the scaled boundary finite element method is introduced for modelling concrete crack propagation under both an external force and water pressure. The finite volume method is employed to model the water within the crack and consider the relationship between the water pressure and the crack opening distance. The cohesive crack model is used to analyse the non-linear fracture process zone. The numerical results are compared with experimental data, indicating that the F-CMOD curves and water pressure changes under different loading conditions are approximately the same. Different types of water pressure distributions are also studied with the proposed coupled model, and the results show that the internal water pressure distribution has an important influence on crack propagation.
