  • Emulsion graft copolymerizations of vinyl monomers, butyl acrylate(BA), methyl methacrylate(MMA), 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA), methacrylonitrile(MAN), dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate(DAMA) or 2-vinyl pyridine(VP), onto carboxyl-terminated SBR latex were carried out under different experimental conditions. In case of synthesizing SBR-g-poly(butyl acrylate), the degree of grafting was increased with increasing the amount of emulsifier, polymerization temperature and the amount of initiator. Pull-out strength of resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex(RFL) adhesives formulated with modified latexes was very higher than that of RFL adhesive formulated with ungrafted latex. When the modified latexes with GMA, HEMA, MAN, DAMA or VP were used, the break occurred at cords. Peel strength of RFL adhesives formulated with SBR-g-poly(GMA), SBR-g-poly(HEMA) or SBR-g-poly(VP) was higher by about 1.3 times than that of RFL adhesives formulated with unmodified SBR against nylon cord and was higher by about 2.0 times against polyester cord.

  • The polyurethane was synthesized by the reaction of polycaprolactone diol(Mw 2000), 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol as the chain extender. Also, the modified polyurethane polymers based on liquid polybutadiene as a part of soft segment and dimethylolpropionic acid as a chain extender, giving polyurethane with various polarity, were synthesized. The thermal, mechanical, adhesion properties and water contact angles of the polyurethanes were examined. From the result of the water contact angle, the polarity of the acid modified PU containing 6% acid content was unchanged but mechanical and adhesion properties were improved. The water contact angles on polybutadiene modified PU films were increased with increasing polybutadiene content. The mechanical properties of the polybutadiene modified PU were higher than that of acid modified PU. However, the mechanical properties were reduced as polybutadiene content increased. The result is presumably due to phase separation between hard segment and soft segment. The peel strength of the polyurethane introduced with 5wt% polybutadiene was improved about 150% than that of unmodified PU. The same as the mechanical properties, the more polybutadiene was introduced, the lower peel strength was obtained.

  • In this study, the effect of petroleum resin on the mechanical strength, morphology, and vibration damping characteristics of natural rubber (NR) composites was observed. The NR composites plasticized by adding petroleum resin showed decreased hardness and mechanical properties. A morphology analysis indicated that as the amount of petroleum resin increased, carbon black aggregates (or agglomerates) observed at the fracture surface decreased, resulting in an improvement in the dispersibility. In addition, as 20 phr of petroleum resin was added, the effective damping temperature range increased by approximately 11.4%, the hysteresis loss rate increased by 15.2%, and the resilience decreased by 36.6%. Therefore, it was confirmed that the vibration damping characteristics improved with the addition of petroleum resin. This was because the rubber-filler interaction between the NR molecular chain of the NR composite and the carbon black particles improved by the addition of petroleum resin.

For this, a survey of 207 women in their 20s and 60-70s was conducted to identify the wearing of shoes, inconvenience areas, purchase practices and footwear preferences by age group. The results are as follows. First, the average age of the young female group was 22.5 years old, the elderly female group was 68.8 years old, and the average shoe size was 236.3 mm for the young female group and 238.3 mm for the elderly female group. Second, young women wore shoes for a longer time than elderly women, resulting in swollen and numb legs, hardened soles, uncomfortable toes and sore heels. However, elderly women felt more uncomfortable wearing footwear than young women. They suffered pain in the joint area, heal and toe areas as well as had more toe deformations due to aging. Third, all age groups preferred athletic shoes and loafers as well as purchases from footwear brand stores and department stores. The elderly spent more money on shoes, longer time to buy and valued the feeling of wearing, whereas the young considered design first. Fourth, both age groups prefer low-heels and natural leather, the young preferred to wear various types of shoes; however, the elderly are found to desire shoes that are comfortable and stable in both form and wearing.

  • In this study, the optimum conditions for manufacturing PVDF nano web according to various electrospinning conditions such as solution concentration and applied voltage conditions were confirmed. The optimum spinning conditions were studied by analyzing the changes in the radioactivity of PVDF/TiO2 nano web according to the TiO2 content and the content of β-phase closely related to the piezoelectric properties under established conditions. As a result, it was confirmed that the concentration of the spinning solution was 20 wt%, the applied voltage was 25 kV, and the TiO2 content was 5 phr. PVDF nano web and PVDF/TiO2 nano web were observed morphologies through Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM) analysis. Formation of β-phase by electrospinning was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray Diffractometer(XRD), and the effect of the trapped nano web structure on the piezoelectric properties was investigated.

  • All the cultures are enriched and developed themselves through the contact with another culture, which propagate and transplant its new cultural elements to a time-honoured tradition. Therefore, the investigation of the origin of each culture means to find out the all the elements of each culture itself in the end. In Korean Costume, we can find both the Costume of frizid jone and that of temperate jone togther, effected by the influence of typical continental climate. Accordingly, we can also realize that both Lee, of southern tribe and Haw, of northern tribe suitable for the protection of cold weather, existed in Korea. Even Lee and Hwa were used together, Hwa had been appeared earlier than Lee along with the Skitai Costume and we can find its origin in the line of Skitai costume. In Central Asia, Tadjhik was the only race tracing their ancestry from ancient Iranic genuinely and they had been keeping the culture of Skitai origin continuously. The purpose of this thesis is to examine Korean's own culture of the footwear through the investigation of Tadjhik's culture of costume, specially through the culture of Tadjhik footware. To reach the conclusion of this thesis, the comparision and investigation between Korea and Tadjhik was made carefully for the followings, culture of life and costume, forms and materials of footwear. 1. The treasers and boots made by leather and felt was the origin of costume culture of Central Asia and aboves were appeared in persian costumn for the first time. We can consider that those had connection with Korean culture of costume. 2. Form of Tadjhik footwear can be devided by hwa and Lee, and there was a big difference in form between that of mountain area and plain area. We can find more rariety in footwear of mountain area. 3. If we compare the form of Hwa and Lee of Tadjhik with our own footwear, we can find out many things in common and there are lots of similarities particularly in form and material. 4. We can say that the difference of Tadjhik and Korean was the preference of Hwa for Tadjhik and Lee for Korean, aboves came from the different totography, climate condition and life style. 5. The form of male and female footwear of tadjhik was almost similar, but female footwear had various and beautiful decorations for the ornament. 6. The materials of Tadjhik footwear was mostly leather, and Hwa was used particularly for labour purposes. 7. We can expect that Tadjhik of Central Asia and Korea had a similar orgin and style on the footwear. It can be expected that we can find out many common things in further investigation of the study of Tadjhik costume and will exert the examination continuously.

  • A new method for obtaining the photoluminescence of footwear impression by using 1,2-indandione (1,2-IND) solution, which is a latent fingerprint-developing reagent, was studied. A binary complex of DL-alanine and 1,2-IND was prepared by spraying a DL-alanine solution and the 1,2-IND solution (an amino acid sensitive reagent) onto dry or wet origin footwear impression deposited on the surface of printed A4 paper. This binary complex reacts with the trace metal component in the footwear impression to form a ternary complex that exhibits photoluminescence. However, when 5-methylthioninhydrin (5-MTN) solution was used instead of 1,2-IND, no consistent photoluminescence was observed even under identical treatment conditions. In addition, when footwear impressions treated with DL-alanine and 1,2-IND solutions were stored under various temperature conditions (30, 40 and $50^{\circ}C$) and various humidity conditions (30 %, 40 %, 50 % and 60 % RH), the contrast between the footwear impression and the background decreased. Optimal footwear impression photoluminescence was obtained when the footwear impressions treated with DL-alanine and 1,2-IND solutions were stored at $30^{\circ}C$ and 30 % RH for 1 h. The sensitivity of the developed method was ccompared with the sensitivities of three known methods - black gelatin lifting, 2,2'-dipyridyl treatment, and 8-hydroxyquinoline treatment. The results showed that the sensitivity of the developed method was worse than that of the black gelatin lifting method but better than that of 2,2'-dipyridyl or 8-hydroxyquinoline treatment method.

  • Sole in the footwear usually modified with foaming agent on the polymer resin to improve the lightweightness and crush-cushion effect. In this study, we investigated rheological properties for polymer resin filled with the different type and concentration of foaming agent, capsule type foaming agent and organo-chemical foaming agent, under the time sweep test. Curing times of each polymer resin with different kind of foaming agent are delayed than reference material (epoxy resin with curing agent). In case of adding capsule type foaming agent, however, there is appropriate concentration to reduce the curing time, relatively. When foaming agent is activated, foaming force inflates the sample in contrast to condensation force of curing and then axial normal force develop to the (+) direction. Interestingly, by increase concentration of foaming agent, there is a specific point to break down the axial normal force development. The reason for this phenomenon is that coalescence of foams induce the blocking of axial normal force development.
