The structural and biomechanical characteristics of pelvic and foot are important factors of back pain, but it is still complicated to clearly explain the relationship among them. The purpose of this study was to find out the characteristic of pelvic parameters and biomechanics of foot in patients with low back pain. Thirty-three female subjects with chronic low back pain were enrolled and ODI and VAS score were measured for back pain index. All subjects were taken the X-ray examination for major pelvic parameters and foot scan analysis for foot pressure, gait angle, fore-foot/rear-foot peak pressure ratio and asymmetric index. Statistical analysis were performed to examine the inter-relation between the measurement. As a result, it was shown the positive interrelation between back pain and F/R ratio, but others were not shown the relationship related to low back pain. And there were correlations between the lumbo-pelvic structure and biomechanics of foot in some aspects, but the causal relationship between them are still indefinable. In order to get more information about structures and biomechanics related to low back pain, subsequent researches are needed.

For commercial vehicles with a manual transmission, the pneumatic and fluid pressure servo-device is widely used for transmitting large torque. However, the pneumatic and fluid pressure servo-device usually results in non-linear variation of foot-efforts, also such characteristics tend to increase physical fatigue of drivers who drive commercial vehicles for a long time. Thus, vehicle manufacturers consider the hysteresis loops in the Clutch Actuation System (CAS) design when a new vehicle model is being developed. In this study, we numerically simulate the hysteresis loops for predictable CAS design, and the experimental results confirm the simulation results.

A wide range of applications for Foot Print Recognition System is discussed in this paper. The whole concept works under the principle that foot print is a parameter associated with biometrics that is very common as well as distinct. Its foremost application is at the government hospitals in the under developed and third world nations where there aren't the best of facilities. This system can be applied in the maternity ward of the hospitals for the identification or differentiation of the infants. Till date there has been no specialized system adopted for this purpose. The Foot Print Recognition System will overcome all the defects of any biometrics when applied here. Since the child will be very delicate for an iris scan and it will not be able to open its eyes wide or to correctly place its finger print on the sensor since the hands of a new born infant will be closed for a while. The Foot Print Recognition system can also be implemented in temples where there are cases of theft often reported. This can be used to grant access to the karpagraham of the deity by authorized users alone. These 2 applications of FPRS are discussed in this paper.
In Ayurveda the eye is clarified as the most essential among all the indriyas (sensory organs), however because of changed way of life and quick pacing time we are experiencing such huge numbers of scatters, among them eye issue is most imperative as eye is the window of wellbeing. Our old acharyas (ancient scholars) have clarified about the different every day routine to be pursued for keeping up eye wellbeing, Padabhyang (foot massage) is one of them referenced in Ayurvedic dincharya (daily routine) and it has been depicted as Chakshushya (eye sight promoter) implies it improves our vision. So thinking about it, Padabhyang (foot massage) with and without snehan (oleation) was chosen for the present clinical preliminary to discover its adequacy in Timira (refractive error), result were statistically significant in subjective parameters but no change was found in objective parameter. We know, this restricted investigation has not secured every one of the angles but rather clinical preliminaries show empowering results. More study is necessary on large sample to draw the final inferences.

This paper describes the detection of spatio-temporal parameter using an accelerometer and footswitches to evaluate a symmetry and balance of hemiplegic patients. We detected gait data using a 3-axis accelerometer that mounted between L3 and IA intervertebral area and footswitches made by FSR-Sensor attached insole. To minimize the error of the gait parameters to be detected incorrectly in case of using only accelerometer, we enhancement the performance of detection by measuring an accelerometer and foots witches data at the same time. So, it was possible to detect more accurate gait parameters. As a result, we can confirm the symmetry and balance of hemiplegic patients. In the future. these results could be used to evaluate the walking ability in hemiplegic patients in clinical pratice.
Purpose: To evaluate the safety and prognostic factors of intramedullary nailing of distal tibia fractures in terms of function and symptoms of the ankle joint. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 22 distal tibial fractures with intramedullary nailing. The mean duration of follow-up was 43 months. We reviewed medical records to describe each case. We measured radiographic parameters such as fracture configuration, arthritic change of the ankle joint and status of reduction. We also assessed clinical results by AOFAS ankle hind foot scoring system, degree of pain by VAS and range of motion to find out prognostic factors for functional result of the ankle joint. Results: Bone healing was obtained in all cases without any wound complications. Mean AOFAS ankle score was 94. There were 4 cases with mild (VAS<3/10) ankle pain and 2 cases with mild limitation of ankle motion. The comminution of fracture had a significant relationship with delayed angular deformity of ankle joint (p=0.032). There was no other significant parameter affecting ankle joint function except the location of nail-end. Conclusion: Intramedullary nailing in distal tibia fracture is a safe and effective procedure. But further study may need to evaluate the relationship between the position of nail-end and the function of ankle joint.
The present study was designed to develop the functional electrical stimulation system in order to restore motor function of paralytic patients. We attempt to establish adequate stimulus parameters for the recovery of work unction in lower limb paralysis patients and to develop the electrical stimulation system, which is effective to protect foot drop in these patients. In our animal and human experiment, adequate stimulus condition for surface electrode on the lower limb were 0.2-0.3ms at the duration and 50 Hz, which contain 600Hz train pulse. This parameter has efficiently prevented the foot drop from lower limb paralysis, decreased muscle fatigue and induced powerful contraction of lower limb muscle.

This study investigated changes in certain blood parameters in calves and pigs after foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccination. In this study, five calves and five pigs were selected from groups of 10 calves and pigs, respectively, and were vaccinated with an FMD vaccine. The remaining animals formed two non-treatment control groups. Blood samples were collected from all animals on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th days post-vaccination. In the FMD-vaccinated calves and pigs on day 7 post-vaccination, white blood cell counts, blood urea nitrogen levels, and alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activities were higher than those in the respective controls. The present data suggested that the certain hemato-biochemical parameters on cattle and pigs were meaningfully changed between before and after FMD vaccination.
A number of techniques have been studied to estimate the position of pedestrians in indoor space. Among them, the technique of estimating the position using only the sensors attached to the body of the pedestrian without using the infrastructure is regarded as a very important technology for special purpose pedestrians such as the firefighters. In particular, it forms a research field under the name of Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR). In this paper, we focus on a method for step detection which is essential when performing PDR using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) mounted on a shoe. Many researches have been done to detect the stance phase where the foot contacts the ground. Most of these methods, however, have a way to detect the specific size of the sensor signal and require thresholds for these methods. This has the difficulty of changing these thresholds if the user is different. To solve this problem, we propose a stance phase detection method that does not require any threshold value. It is expected that this result will make it easier to commercialize the technology because PDR can be implemented without user-dependent parameter setting.
