Review on Application of Biosystem Modeling: Introducing 3 Model-based Approaches in Studying Ca Metabolism

  • Purpose: This review aims at introducing 3 modeling approaches classified into 3 categories based on the purpose (estimation or prediction), structure (linear or non-linear) and phase (steady-state or dynamic-state); 1) statistical approaches, 2) kinetic modeling and 3) mechanistic modeling. We hope that this review can be a useful guide in the model-based approach of calcium metabolism as well as illustrates an application of engineering tools in studying biosystems. Background: The meaning of biosystems has been expanded, including agricultural/food system as well as biological systems like genes, cells and metabolisms. This expansion has required a useful tool for assessing the biosystems and modeling has arisen as a method that satisfies the current inquiry. To suit for the flow of the era, examining the system which is a little bit far from the traditional biosystems may be interesting issue, which can enlarge our insights and provide new ideas for prospective biosystem-researches. Herein, calcium metabolic models reviewed as an example of application of modeling approaches into the biosystems. Review: Calcium is an essential nutrient widely involved in animal and human metabolism including bone mineralization and signaling pathways. For this reason, the calcium metabolic system has been studied in various research fields of academia and industries. To study calcium metabolism, model-based system analyses have been utilized according to the purpose, subject characteristics, metabolic sites of interest, and experimental design. Either individual metabolic pathways or a whole homeostasis has been modeled in a number of studies.

전국 초.중.고등학생의 학교우유급식 실태조사 (A Study on the School Milk Program among Elementary, Middle and High School Students in Korea)

  • This study was carried out in order to facilitate the consumption of milk which tend to decrease in recent years and to improve the school milk program. The survey by means of prepared questionnaire was conducted to investigate a perception and satisfaction of school milk program, and milk intake at home and school with elementary, middle, and high school students. Most of the subjects thought drinking milk is important for their health but only 50.2% of them were actually drinking milk everyday. In particular, the frequency of consuming milk at home was significantly lower in students being provided with school milk program than the students without school milk program. Most of the students commonly drunk plain milk rather than flavored milk, however actually they preferred flavored milk to plain milk. The frequency of consuming milk and the degree of satisfaction for milk being served in the school milk program was lowered. The major reason of disliking milk being served in school milk program was ‘poor taste’. And to promote milk consumption in school milk program, the subjects anticipated the serving of various milk and dairy products, flavored milk and yogurt etc. Thus, it was suggested that to improve the school milk program and promote milk consumption among the students, serving various products that can satisfy their preferences and demands and the proper food guide and education on nutrition are called for.

The Making of a Nation's Citizen Diplomats: Culture-learning in International Volunteer Training Program

  • This study examines Korea's international development volunteer program as a citizen diplomacy initiative. Informed by a cultural perspective of transmission and relational models of public diplomacy, I examine the ways in which volunteer training incorporates cultural-learning into its program. The study finds that volunteer training is largely based on an instrumentalist approach to culture that places emphasis on learning the "explicit" side of culture, such as Korean traditional dance, art, and food as a strategy to promote the country's national image. In contrast, much less covered in the training program is a relational approach to culture-learning that is guided by a reflexive understanding of the "implicit" side of culture, or the values and beliefs that guide the worldviews and behavior of both volunteers and host constituents. Whereas the value of the volunteer program as a citizen diplomacy initiative is in its potential to build relationships based on two-way engagement, its conception of culture is mostly guided by that of the transmission model of public diplomacy. Based on the findings, this study calls for an integrated approach to culture-learning in volunteer training program to move the citizen diplomacy initiative forward.

  • The atmosphere of foodservice facility is considered to be the total environment to which customers are exposed. Atmosphere is sometimes described as everything that makes an impression on people. On the other hand, mood is best described as the response of an individual to the various components that make up the atmosphere. Most people experience some type of reaction to the atmosphere that may be desirable or undesirable. If the individual response to the foofservice facility is favorable, the atmosphere has served to put that person into a good mood. In the highly competitive commercial restaurant field, the planning of the atmosphere for new facilities is going to be more important. The coming generation of potential customers is growing up in an environment that associates dining out with more than just good food. This study is characterized by the right atmosphere offerings. Thus, this study discusses the physical components affecting perception of atmosphere. Many of these components will be discussed in detail to show their relationship to the design of dining areas. This study identified the many physical components of atmosphere that can be manipulated and arrive at a combination that will give the desired sensations. With these backgrounds as a guide, this study presented alternatives which should not only provide atmosphere but should reach a satisfactory level of creating atmosphere from a practical standpoint. these is to maximise the perceptual effect, train the employees, and be reflected and be reflected the advertising and public relations.

  • 1. Object of research Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun and DongmuYugo were written by Lee je-ma befare Dongyi Soose Bowon. He explained in full detail Sasang Constitutional symtoms more than symtoms in Dongyi Soose Bowon. I tried to find his early medical views on Sasang Constitutional disease. 2. Method of research It was researched as contents with his writing surh as Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun and DongmuYugo. 3. Results and conclusions (1) Dongmu was tried to explain the Sasang Constitutional physiological and pathological symtoms with ordinary symtoms. It is a his own implementation that he made an analysis of Sasang Constitutional symtoms. (2) We can take advantage of the contents clinically which has full of expression that there is a difference between the constitutional symtoms. (3) It is a guide post that can be expected the appearance of disease even if it were not in poor health

Colloidal Chitin을 자화하는 해양세균으로부터 적색색소의 생산 (Production of Red Pigment from Marine Bacterium Utilizing Colloidal Chitin.)

  • This study is that of providing a fairly practical practival guide to the use of natural pigment in food industry. A strain isolated from marine resources was carried out the production of red pigment. The pigment showed UV absorption maxima at 520 and 550 nm. The color intensity in aqueous solution was fairly stable in the ranges of pH 5~8. The strain KS-97 produced a maximum yield of red pigment at$ 25^{\circ}C$ for 72 hrs with pH 7.0. The strain KS-97 was iden-tified a Bacillus sp. based on morphological and biochemical characterization such as a rod from, motility, spore for-mation, Gram positive and catalase production. The production of red pigment indicated that the strain Ks-97 utilized at thigh concentration of colloidal chitin as carbon sources obtained maximum yield of red pigment at $25^{\circ}C$ for 72 hrs. The highest production of red pigment was observed with cultivation in medium containing 20% colloi-dal chitin, 2.5g polypeptone, 2.5g yeast extract, 1.0g $KH_2$$PO_4$, 0.01g $MgSO_4$.$6H_2$O, 0.01g $ZnSO_4$, 0.01 g $MnSO_4$(per 1).

A Parallel Approach to Navigation in Cities using Reconfigurable Mesh

  • The subject of navigation has drawn a large interest in the last few years. Navigation problem (or path planning) finds the path between two points, source location and destination location. In smart cities, solving navigation problem is essential to all residents and visitors of such cities to guide them to move easily between locations. Also, the navigation problem is very important in case of moving robots that move around the city or part of it to get some certain tasks done such as delivering packages, delivering food, etc. In either case, solution to the navigation is essential. The core to navigation systems is the navigation algorithms they employ. Navigation algorithms can be classified into navigation algorithms that depend on maps and navigation without the use of maps. The map contains all available routes and its directions. In this proposal, we consider the first class. In this paper, we are interested in getting path planning solutions very fast. In doing so, we employ a parallel platform, Reconfigurable mesh (R-Mesh), to compute the path from source location to destination location. R-Mesh is a parallel platform that has very fast solutions to many problems and can be deployed in moving vehicles and moving robots. This paper presents two algorithms for path planning. The first assumes maps with linear streets. The second considers maps with branching streets. In both algorithms, the quality of the path is evaluated in terms of the length of the path and the number of turns in the path.

시각 장애인을 위한 상품 영양 정보 안내 시스템 (Product Nutrition Information System for Visually Impaired People)

  • Nutrition information about food is written on the label paper, which is very inconvenient for visually impaired people to recognize. In order to solve the inconvenience of visually impaired people with nutritional information recognition, this paper proposes a product nutrition information guide system for visually impaired people. In the proposed system, user's image data input through UI, and object recognition is carried out through YOLO v5. The proposed system is a system that provides voice guidance on the names and nutrition information of recognized products. This paper constructs a new dataset that augments the 319 classes of canned/late-night snack product image data using rotate matrix techniques, pepper noise, and salt noise techniques. The proposed system compared and analyzed the performance of YOLO v5n, YOLO v5m, and YOLO v5l models through hyperparameter tuning and learned the dataset built with YOLO v5n models. This paper compares and analyzes the performance of the proposed system with that of previous studies.

HPLC에 의한 조제분유 중 비타민 A 함량 분석의 측정불확도 비교산정 (A Comparative Study on Quantifying Uncertainty of Vitamin A Determination in Infant Formula by HPLC)

  • HPLC를 이용하여 조제분유 중 비타민 A 함량을 분석 할 경우 표준품 분취량 및 시료의 샘플 분취량에 따라 달라지는 불확 도 크기를 산정하기 위하여, 분석결과에 영향을 주는 여러 가지 불확도 인자를 파악하고 각각의 불확도를 계산하였다. 계산은 GUM과 Draft EURACHEM CITAC Guide에 근거한 수학적 계산 및 통계처리 방법에 의해 처리하였다. 측정 불확도의 원인으로서 측정량 계산에 사용되는 시료의 무게, 시료의 최종전량, 그리고 기기에 의한 측정결과값 등이 작용하였다. 측정 불확도 원인의 개별구성요소는 저울의 안정성, 분해능, 재현성, 표준액의 순도, 분자량, 농도, 표준액 희석, 검정선, 회수율 그리고 분석기기의 재현성 등이 작용하였으며, 반복측정된 값을 통계적인 방법에 의해 구할 수 있는 불확도는 A type, 그리고 교정성적서, 제조자의 시방서, 공개된 정보 및 상식에서 얻을 수 있는 모든 정보를 이용 하여 구할 수 있는 불확도는 B type으로 구분하여 불확도를 산정하였다. 표준품을 100 mg 계량하여 1,000 mg/L 로 제조하고 다시 적절한 농도로 희석하여 산출한 결과는 627 ${\pm}$ 33 ${\mu}$g R.E./100 g 이었고, 10 mg을 계량하여 100 mg/L 로 제조하여 산출한 경우는 627 ${\pm}$49 ${\mu}$g R.E./100 g 으로 측정 및 계산되었다. 시료량을 약 1 g, 2 g, 또는 5 g으로 차등을 준 결과 및 불확도는 각각 622 ${\pm}$ 48, 627 ${\pm}$ 33, 491 ${\pm}$ 23 ${\mu}$g R.E./100 g 으로 나타났다. 시료량이 커짐에 따라 불확도의 값이 적어지나 시료 5 g의 경우에는 결과값에 이상이 있음을 알 수 있듯이, 정확한 분석을 위해 식품공전에 명시되어 있는 시료량을 취하는 것에 주의해야 할 것이다. 비타민 A 함량 분석의 결과값에 영향을 주는 주요인자로 전처리 과정중의 검화와 액액분배 과정으로 파악되었으며, 이는 시험자의 숙련도에 따라 결과값의 편차가 발생할 수 있는 실험단계이다. 본 연구에서는, 회수율 실험의 결과와 인증표준물질의 표기값에 만족하였으므로, 검화와 액액분배에서 발생될 수 있는 오차를 최소화시킨 결과값을 도출 한 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 정확한 결과값을 도출하기위해 분석자의 숙련도 향상에 충분한 고찰이 필요할 것이다. 또한 도출된 결과값이 갖는 불확실성을 나타내는 측정불확도는 시료의 전처리 및 기기분석을 통하여 결과를 도출하는 과정 중 발생할 수 있는 모든 불확도인자를 산출하여 합성하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 비타민 A의 정확한 분석결과를 산출하고 불확도를 최소화하기 위해 표준품은 0.1 g을 계량하여 적절한 농도로 희석 사용해야하며, 시료량은 조제분유의 경우 약 2g 정도 취하여 vitamin A를 검화하고 추출해야함을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 검화 플라스크에서 검화를 할 경우의 시료량은 vitamin A 함량에 따라 그 시료량을 달리하여 분석을 수행하여야 한다. 그리고 USP(retinyl acetate 30 mg/g) 표준품과 같이 농도가 낮은 표준품의 경우에는 최소한 0.1 g 이상을 계량하여 모용액을 제조하여 사용하여야 표준용액 제조 및 검량선에 의한 오차를 최소화할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 측정불확도에 대하여 시험자가 시험수행시마다 파악하고 계산하기란 시간적, 인력적 제약과 업무효율적 측면에서 현실적으로 어려운 점이 많으나, 본 연구에서와 같이 시험과정 중의 분석오차 발생인자들을 파악하고 이중 영향이 큰 주요인자들을 집중 관리하여, 그 인자들을 최소화하는 방법을 끊임없이 모색하여야 최종 시험 결과의 오차를 크게 줄일 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

서울지역의 흡연자와 비흡연자의 식이 패턴 및 흡연 행동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Differences in the Dietary-, Health- and Smoking Habits of Young Adult Groups in the Seoul Area)

  • The traditional Korean diet, which is high in rice and vegetables, is fast being replaced by a Western style diet as the standard of living goes up. In addition to this, cigarette smoking has taken on serious proportions, especially amongst those of the younger generation. Because Seoul (and it's surrounding areas) is the hub of Education and Business, it is densely populated and heavily polluted Consequently health-related issues and diseases are starting to resemble those prevalent in Western communities. Historically, stomach cancer was the #1 killer-disease in Korea, but nowadays lung cancer ranks either 1st or 2nd on the list of killer-disease in Korea. This is presumably due to the lethal combination of heavy smoking and pervasive air pollution. Despite these disquieting facts, almost no study had been made of the nutritional patterns and dietary habits of smoking and non-smoking young adults in the Seoul area. Therefore the purpose of this study is to compare the dietary and nutritional patterns of young smokers with those of young non-smokers in and around Seoul. This is done with regards to their eating habits and lifestyles, as well as the dietary components that contribute towards maintaining good health. The results showed that compared to non-smokers, smokers manifested irregular eating patterns and also tended to overindulge on fast- or junk foods. In contrast to this, non-smokers enjoyed a healthier diet, which was high in brown rice, grains, legumes, fresh fruit and vegetables, and 'kimchi'. Amongst the male subjects of this study, it was found that smokers consumed significantly less vitamin $B_2$, calcium, and phosphorous than non-smokers. It was also established that in general, stress-generated smoking habits were formed during the high school years of the younger generation. In conclusion: Because smokers maintain a less healthy diet and life-style, it is to recommended that a 'Health Education Program' be developed which could guide young smokers into adopting better dietary habits and life styles.
