  • This study describes the application of the stages of change construct to fat intake by examining the associations of the stages of change with nutritional status and beliefs on health behavior. Data were obtained from apparently healthy 596 adults(326 females and 270 males) residing in large cities. Stages of change assessed by an algorithms based on 6 items were designed each subject into one of the 5 stages: precontemplation(PC), contemplation(CO), preparation(PR), action(AC) and maintenance(MA). Beliefs on health behavior were assessed by self efficacy as well as 4 belief scales from the Locus of Illness Control(LIC) developed using factor analysis such as internal disease cure and prevention and external disease cure and prevention. Energy and fat intakes were measured by a 39 item short form food frequency questionnaire. Regarding the 5 stages of change, MA stage comprised the largest group(37.9%), followed by Ac(30.7%), PC(11.4%), CO(10.4%) and PR(9.6%). Subjects who were females, older or healthier were more likely to belong to either AC or MA. Stage assignment of individuals was corroborated by their nutritional variables. Those in PC had the most energy and fat and those in MA ate the least for females. BMI was higher in PR than any other stages for both males and females. Those in PC were distinctive in that they were more externally oriented in terms of health control showing higher scores on external disease prevention(for males) and external disease cure(for females), and lower score on internal disease cure. On the other hand, those in MA received the highest scores on internal disease prevention and self efficacy, which suggested that they were more internally oriented. Canonical discriminant function analysis indicated that the 5 stages were importantly discriminated by BMI, self efficacy, internal disease prevention and external disease prevention for males and by fat intake, self efficacy and external disease cure variables for females. The results of our study confirm differences in stages of change in fat intake in terms of nutritional status and beliefs on heath behavior and indicate the need for taking these phases of change into account in nutrition advice. • The Diagnosis and Treatment of Jaundice According to the Morbid Pulse in the Chapter 15 of Synopsis of Golden Chamber sets forth the classification, symptom, method of treatment, formula, prognosis of jaundice. The contents of this chapter can be induced by(from) yellowing and jaundice These two disease patterns assume various aspects of disease cause, pathomechanism, symptom, prognosis, and treatment. Jaundice was at first classified into liquor jaundice, dietary irregularly jaundice, black jaundicem abd sextual taxation jaundice, later classified into liquor jaundice, dietary irregularly jaundice, black jaundice, sextual tatation jaundice, and yellow sweat. the disease cause and pathomechanism of jaundice are said to be said to be due to the damp-heat, which is attacked with the evil of wind and dampness to affect the spleen-stomach and the liver. and to the inveterate drinking, damage by food, sextual taxation jaundice, sextual taxation, and vacuity taxation. This chapter mainly refers to jaundice as damp-heat, so that it lays down fundamental principles of clear heat and disinhibit dampness. In the prognosis of jaundice, ingibited urination shows symptoms of jaundice, and neither urination nor damp-heat develops symptoms of jaundice. and jaundice with thirst is difficult to cure, and that the symptoms of the abdominal fullness is also difficult to cure, while jaundice without thirst is ease to cure. Of the 18 days of suffering from jaundice, the symptoms of jaundice get better before and after 10 days. I think, however, that getting worse of its symptoms makes more meaningful clinically.

  • Garlic has been used for condiments and also for medicines to cure various diseases since ancient times. Many studies on the processing of garlic have been published, however, few of them were related with fermentation because of the antimicrobial action of the garlic. In this study, to conduct garlic fermentation, 4 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains with growth abilities in garlic medium were selected. Addition of various nitrogen, carbon, and mineral sources generally did not improve the growth of experimental strains during garlic fermentation except for Lactobacillus casei KFRI 704 by yeast extract and Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris ATCC 19257 by mineral sources. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of 32 phenolic compounds during fermentation showed that formononetin was decreased time dependently. The concentrations of volatile compounds and alliin did not change during fermentation. The results of this study would provide the basic understanding of garlic fermentation by selected strains of LAB.

  • In the past gut microbiome has been the main focus of microbiome research. Studies about the microbiome inside oral cavities and other organs are underway. Studies about the relationship between noninfectious diseases and periodontal diseases, and the negative effects of harmful oral microbes on systemic health have been published in the recent past. A lot of attention is being paid towards fostering a healthy oral microbial ecosystem. This study aimed to understand the roles and effects of the microbiome inside the human body can potentially help cure various diseases including inflammatory bowel diseases with no known cure such as Crohn's disease, atopic dermatitis, obesity, cancer, diabetes, brain diseases and oral diseases. The present study examined technological trends in the correlation between the human microbiome and diseases in the human body, interactions between the human body's immunity, the metabolic system, and the microbiome, and research trends in other countries. While it has been proven that human microbiome is closely correlated with human diseases, most studies are still in the early stage of trying to compare the composition of microbiomes between health and patient groups. Since the oral environment is a dynamic environment that changes due to not only food intake but also other external factors such as lifestyle, hygiene, and drug intake, it is necessary to continue in-depth research on the microbiome composition characteristics to understand the complex functions of oral microorganisms. Analyzing the oral microbiome using computational technology may aid in disease diagnosis and prevention.

  • CPS219, a new concept compound composed of coffee (CO), Pueraria Tomsonii flower (PF), and Sambou bamboo saltTM (BS), was developed as a coffee beverage to alleviate menopausal symptoms. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the anti-oxidant and menopausal alleviating effects of CPS219 combined as the optimal ratio of each component selected through sensory evaluation and blind consumer test. For CPS219, the optimal ratio of CO, PF, and BS was determined to be 1:0.1:0.017 through various sensory evaluations and blind consumer tests. CPS219 significantly enhanced the superoxide dismutase-like activity compared to the CO or CO plus PF (CP). The proliferation of MCF-7 cells was considerably increased after 24 hours by treatment with CO, CP, or CPS219, but only CPS219 significantly boosted the proliferation of MCF-7 cells after 48 hours. Moreover, CPS219 had an estrogen-like effect by dramatically increasing the expression of estrogen receptor-β mRNA in MCF-7 cells but not CO and CP. Treatment of MCF-7 cells with CO, CP, or CPS219 did not cause any cytotoxicity. In conclusion, these findings imply that anti-oxidant and estrogen-like properties of CPS219 can be used to prevent and cure postmenopausal symptoms.

  • Background and purpose: Well being which emphasizes peace of mind and richness of spirit, has been already used from several thousands years ago, as the name of Yangsaeng(養生) when we regard it in the view point of oriental medicine. Yangsaeng means a person's daily life according to natural rules in order to compensate his essence qi spirit(精氣神) and to prevent and cure his disease for his long life, and there are environment, spirit, qigong, food, dwelling labor, sleeping and sexual intercourse as its methods. But in Korea, we are mainly using the health and concept of the health management and use of it, with the one developed in Western. Thus, in this study, literature study was made for the situation of research and feature of Yangsaeng method. Among them, I tried to study mainly on adapting method of Exercise Yangsaeng and its possibility which can derive harmonious development of Spirit and body for human body, in the view point of identity(整體觀). Methods: Diploma thesis and words of 'Yangsaeng', 'exercise cure', 'exercise therapy', and 'exercise prescription', in 'KERIS(Korea Education & Research Iformation Service).' Results and conclusion: In this study, in order to adapt oriental method of Yangsaeng to the reality, I selected and researched only Exercise Yangsaeng among various Yangsaeng methods including environment, spirit, qigong, food, dwelling labor, sleeping and sexual intercourse. The Exercise Yangsaeng has its advantage that it ran train both mind and body as well as it has various programs, but it is regarded at it is in need of more study as lows; First, it requires assessment on the effect of construction itself as well as degree management of Excercise Yangsaeng as a method of exercise which is being done in daily life or in the literature. Second, above all, standardization of Yangsaeng Exercise and specialized programs are required in order to introduce the Exercise Yangsaeng which was verified for its effect, to the cure of disease. Third, researches are required for the system of assessment management for measurement of relative effect of standardized programs. fourth, continuous compensation is required in the future by adapting researched and developed programs into the field.

  • Ginseng is described as the "King of all herbs, "Man-root" or "Root of heaven" and regarded as the most powerful herbal remedy, particularly grown in Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, and North America. It has been in existence for a long time. The most demanded herbal cure, Ginseng, principally the root, has long been employed in traditional Asian medicine. The extent of availability of bioactive combinations and their impact on the body differs between American and Asian ginseng. Asian ginseng, also known as Panax ginseng, has a more calming influence and is more advantageous than American ginseng, such as Panax quinquefolius. The pharmaceutical aspect of development and extraction with diverse morphological properties is examined. Saponins, glycosides, carbohydrates, polyacetylenes, amino acids, vitamins, volatile oil, enzymes are all present in the Phyto-content of Ginseng. Ginsenosides are saponins that are constituents of the triterpenoid dammarane and have anticancer, anti-cardiovascular, anti-microbial, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Ginseng, in particular, has the possibility to help with microbial invasion, inflammatory processes, oxidative stress, and diabetes. It developed nanoparticles and nanocomposite film technologies as novel drug delivery platforms for cancer, inflammation, and neurological illnesses. Furthermore, it offers a range of applications that will be vital for future growth.

  • Polygala Tenuifolia, also described as Yuan Zhi, is a conventional botanic plant found in Korea and China. It's most well- known promise is to improve cognition and guard against mental disorders, cure sputum, anxiety, and sleeplessness, and keep the central nervous system health. The pharmacological aspects of Polygala Tenuifolia's genesis and component compounds reveal the neuroprotective potential in connection to Alzheimer's disease. It contains three herbs: Bokshin, Sukchangpo, and Wongi. P. Tenuifolia's primary ingredients are Xanthone glycosides, Triterpenoid saponins, and Oligosaccharides. Polygalasaponins and Etrahydrocolumbamine are the major components, and they've been widely used for more than a century to relieve mood and psychological illnesses, particularly in North Asian countries such as Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan. P. Tenuifolia extract eliminates allergic illnesses such as eczema and contact dermatitis by modulating Protein kinase-A and Mitogen-protein kinase-38. In vitro and in vivo studies linking P. tenuifolia root ingredients to a variety of pharmacological effects pertinent to AD show that this species' isolates may function through polyvalency. In great health, people can take up to 250-300 mg per day. It was given in peer-reviewed studies at dosages of 100-150 mg many times each day. There is minimal evidence that it improves verbal memory in experimental animals.

  • This study analyzed the physical indices, food habits and nutrient intakes of patients with hypertension, to provide better research data for the prevention and the cure for disease as well as basic data for nutrition education. The subjects were 44 patients who visited the general hospital, located in Daegu, to receive hypertension treatment The lifestyle, food habit, nutrient intakes, anthropometric measurements, body fat and blood pressure were measured as main indices. By the BMI, $72.8\%$ of the patients were over weight or obesity $(>23\;kg/m^2)$. In the male group, the WHR tended to increase according to the BMI (p<0.05). In the female group, the body fat tended to increase according to the BMI (p<0.05). The group with more monthly income showed lower systolic blood pressure than the group with smaller monthly income (p<0.05). The scores about food habits concerning balanced diet and preference for salt were low, which implied that food habits of subjects were not desirable. The intakes of riboflavin and calcium didn't meet the RDA requirements. Especially, the lack of calcium was more ap~nt in the female patients than the male ones. Despite this, they had more than enough protein, vitamin C, and iron. The physical indices according to blood pressure revealed that the group of higher blood pressure showed greater WHR (p<0.001). The male group with higher systolic blood pressure showed greater BMI than one with lower systolic blood pressure (p<0.05). As for nutrient intakes according to blood pressure, the group with higher blood pressure had more sodium and iron than one with lower blood pressure (p<0.05). The patients with hypertension tended to be more overweight or obese, preferred salty foods, and were in an unbalanced state of nutrient intakes. Thus more systematic and ongoing measures should be pursued to take care of patients with hypertension.
