  • Purpose - We seek feasible strategies to draw customers into a state of attitudinal/behavioral loyalty through perceived quality and perceived risk in the experienced food industry. Research design, data, and methodology - We utilize the LISREL model to examine the cause and effect relationships between customer loyalty, perceived quality, perceived risk, and three marketing proposals (brand image, store image, and promotion). We employed the quota sampling method to conduct the survey questionnaires, collecting365 effective customer samples in coffee shops/stores in Taipei City. Results - We find that store image substantially benefits consumer loyalty through perceived quality. Marketing managers can enhance store environment and atmosphere to elicit both attitudinal and behavioral aspects of customer-perceived quality and loyalty. Conclusions - This is the first paper to investigate simultaneously customer loyalty across brand image, store image, and promotion/marketing proposals in the food industry. Managers can promote brand image and store image at the same time to enhance customer-perceived quality.

  • The adverse events which do not appear in the approval process tend to occur more frequently at the early stage of the use. Therefore new drugs, drugs with different active substances or routes of administration, or drugs with explicitly different efficacy added are particularly chosen for re-examination, and go through a study, which is conducted on 600 to 3,000 subjects over 4 to 6 years. Since the re-examination system was implemented in January 1995, 880 drug products have been designated as the subject of re-examination and among them 194 drugs have been completed their re-examination as of until March 2005. Post Marketing Surveillance to insure drug safety should be correlated with re-examination of new drug, re-evaluation of drug, and adverse event monitoring system. And the first labeling change should reflect all information collected for a defined period of time after the marketing authorization is granted. Furthermore centralized management through spontaneous reporting system of adverse event for whole period of time would be the most desirable type of system.

  • This study analyzed the effect of the intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of gochujang, Korean red chili paste, on purchasing intention and recommendation intention for consumption. Survey participants were female, married, aged 30 - 39 years, and highly educated with graduation from a university. Most participants purchased gochujang 1 - 2 times per year, most commonly at a shopping mall, and acquired information on the gochujang product from an advertisement or sponsored TV shows. For the factor analysis, five variables for intrinsic quality were considered: namely, healthiness, economics, convenience, diversity, and sense, whereas three variables were considered for extrinsic quality: trust, external appearance, and image. The factor analysis also confirmed the correlation between the validity and the reliability of the purchasing and recommendation intentions. The effect of intrinsic quality of gochujang on purchasing and recommendation intentions was tested through a multiple regression analysis. The purchase intention was most significantly affected by healthiness, cost, and convenience. On the other hand, the recommendation intention was most significantly affected by the diversity and, to a lesser degree, by the healthiness of the product. Among the extrinsic qualities, trust of consumers and the product appearance had a significant effect on purchasing intention. Recommendation intention was significantly affected by the appearance. And trust significantly influenced the recommendation. Therefore, a concrete and systematic marketing approach considering these factors.
