Aerodynamic characteristics of a wing during fold motion were investigated in order to understand how variations or changes in such characteristics increase aircraft performance. Numerical simulations were conducted, and the results were obtained using the unsteady vortex lattice method to estimate the lift, drag and the moment coefficient in subsonic flow during fold motion. Parameters such as the fold angle and the fold angular velocity were summarized in detail. Generally, the lift and pitching moment coefficients decreased as the angle increased. In contrast, the coefficients increased as the angular velocity increased.

Although manual traction, one of pain therapies, was applied in clinic to relief pain, the study was rare on the manual force and displacement of ligaments at knee joint during manual traction. The aim of this study is to quantify not only manual force at knee joint but also elongated displacement of joint ligament by C-arm scanning and motion analysis. Twenty-one healthy subjects were tested with manual traction from grade I to grade III under neutral position by a physical therapist. We calculated traction force using joint farces of both hands and elongated displacement of joint ligament were measured. The results showed that traction forces by C-arm scanning analysis were averagely 1.67-fold greater than those by motion analysis, but elongated displacements were instead averagely 2.36-fold smaller than motion analysis. Finally, we could estimate relationship between traction force and elongated displacement at knee joint by two methods.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the availability of software for rehabilitation with the Kinect sensor by presenting an efficient algorithm based on machine learning when classifying the motion data of the PNF pattern if the subjects were wearing a patient gown. Methods: The motion data of the PNF pattern for upper extremities were collected by Kinect sensor. The data were obtained from 8 normal university students without the limitation of upper extremities. The subjects, wearing a T-shirt, performed the PNF patterns, D1 and D2 flexion, extensions, 30 times; the same protocol was repeated while wearing a patient gown to compare the classification performance of algorithms. For comparison of performance, we chose four algorithms, Naive Bayes Classifier, C4.5, Multilayer Perceptron, and Hidden Markov Model. The motion data for wearing a T-shirt were used for the training set, and 10 fold cross-validation test was performed. The motion data for wearing a gown were used for the test set. Results: The results showed that all of the algorithms performed well with 10 fold cross-validation test. However, when classifying the data with a hospital gown, Hidden Markov model (HMM) was the best algorithm for classifying the motion of PNF. Conclusion: We showed that HMM is the most efficient algorithm that could handle the sequence data related to time. Thus, we suggested that the algorithm which considered the sequence of motion, such as HMM, would be selected when developing software for rehabilitation which required determining the correctness of the motion.

Background and Objectives : Laryngeal Evoked Electromyography(EEMG) is a objective, quantitative technique to determine innervation status of larynx. The possible applications of this technique are to confirm the etiology of impaired vocal fold motion and monitor perioperative vagus nerve trauma. The purpose of this study is to develop a novel method for determining the amount of reinnervation of recurrent laryngeal nerve with accurate, inexpensive, and minimally invasive technique in human. Materials and Methods : Laryngeal EEMG was performed for 16 adults with intact vocal folds motion and 2 patients diagnosed as unilateral vocal fold paralysis. for the purpose of searching what is the optimal and noninvasive technique for laryngeal EEMG, we used 2 types of stimulation configurations(transcutaneous vs percutaneous) and 2 types of recording configurations(intramuscular vs. surface). Results and Conclusions : Percutaneous needle stimulation and surface recording of laryngeal EEMG was reliable and comparable to standard needle stimulation and invasive intramuscular needle recording. But the laryngeal EEMG by the surface recording and transcutaneous surface stimulation was not reliable and repeatable. Therefore we recommended that laryngeal EEMG by surface recording and percutaneous needle stimulation would be minimally invasive, reliable technique to know the status of reinnervation in e patients with vocal fold paralysis.
It is generally known that many cases of pathological rough voice are characterized not by simple random perturbations but by quasi-periodic perturbations in the speech wave. However, there are few studies on the characteristics of perturbations in vocal fold vibrations associated with this type of voice. We have been conducting studies of pathological vocal fold vibration using a high-speed digital image recording system developed by our institute, Compared to the ordinary high-speed-motion picture system, the present system is compact and simple to operate and thus, it suited for pathological data collection. Arytenoid motion has long been recognized as complex. Misunderstandings about the specifics of arytenoid motion remain prevalent. The resultant misunderstandings have led to erroneous or suboptimal clinical approaches to the treatment of vocal fold immobility. A thorough understanding of the anatomy of the arytenoid and cricoid cartilages, the cricoarytenoid joint, and related ligaments, muscles, and other structures is essential in order to fully understand laryngeal motion disorders. Arytenoid motion occurs in three directions. Movements involving a change anteriorly and posteriorly, as well as vertically, are due to the revolving or pitchlike motion of the arytenoid along the minor axis of the cricoid's elliptically shaped facet. The medial and lateral movements are due to the orientation of the arytenoid which in turn is determined by the forward, lateral, and inferior inclination of the cricoid-arytenoid facet. During adduction it is the outward angulation of the vocal process from the body of the arytenoid that allows the entire length of the vocal proceses to approximate one another and to have this meeting occur at the proper vertical height.

Background and Objectives : High-speed imaging can be useful in studies of linguistic and artistic singing styles, and laryngeal examination of patients with voice disorders, particularly in irregular vocal fold vibrations. In this study, we introduce new laryngeal imaging systems which are commercially available high speed cameras connected with a laryngoscope. Materials and Method : The laryngeal images were captured from three different types of cameras. First, the adapter was made to connect with laryngoscope and Casio EX-F1 to capture the images using $2{\times}150$ Watt Halogen light source (EndoSTROB) at speeds of 1,200 tps (frame per second)($336{\times}96$). Second, Phantom Miro ex4 was used to capture the digital laryngeal images using Xenon Nova light source 175 Watt (STORZ) at speeds of 1,920 fps ($512{\times}384$). Finally, laryngeal images were captured using MotionXtra N-4 with 250 Watt halogen lamp (Olympus CLH-250) light source at speeds of 2,000tps ($384{\times}400$) by connecting with laryngoscope. All images were transformed into the Kymograph using KIPS (Kay's image processing Software) of Kay Pentex Inc. Results: Casio EX-F1 was too small to adjust the focus and screen size was diminished once the images were captured despite of high resolution images. High quality of color images could be obtained with Phantom Miro ex4 whereas good black and white images from Motion Xtra N-4 Despite of some limitations of illumination problems, limited recording time capacity, and time consuming procedures in Phantom Miro ex4 and Motion Xtra N-4, those portable devices provided high resolution images. Conclusion : All those high speed cameras could capture the laryngeal images by connecting with laryngoscope. High resolution images were able to be captured at the fixed position under the good lightness. Accordingly, these techniques could be applicable to observe the vocal fold vibration properties in the clinical practice.

Human vocal cords vibrate as quickly as 100-250 times per second, so it is impossible to observe them with normal endoscopic diagnostic equipment. High-speed videolaryngoscopy (HSV) allows the visualization of non-periodic vibratory motion of vocal fold beyond the limitation of videostroboscopy. New developed post-processing methods that converts HSV to two-dimensional videokymography (2D VKG) using U-medical image-processing software can provide quantitative information on vocal fold mucosa vibration. Multifunctional laryngeal examination system is composed of 3 kinds of examinations such as HSV, 2D scanning digital kymography (2D DKG) and line scanning digital kymography (DKG). Evaluation of entire vocal cord vibratory pattern in each cord is possible using 2D DKG and a faster and more reliable quantitative information can be obtained. As this system is used in clinical and research, it is expected to bring much advances to the diagnosis of voice disorders. In this review, I will introduce the principles and advantages on examination of the vocal fold vibration, which is in the spotlight recently, and proceed with the literature review.

This study describes Brownian motion of human narrative in physiological perspective. The purpose of this study is to investigate how these functions appear in literary works and to apply them to the practice of literary therapy in the future. Hwang Jin-yi's sijo is the first to cut off the longing. Then, It fold that longing and keep it. Finally, It is to unfold those longing. In this folded and unfolded movement, this Sijo is vibrated. This is the Brownian motion of Sijo. In this, the Sijo completes endless love. Using the Brownian motion of these literary feelings, it seems that literary therapy can form conditions of human physiological healing.
The paper treats the nonlinear robust control of Chua's circuit having Chuar's diode as an element based on the internal model principle. The Chua's diode has unknown nonlinear parameters and the circuits parameters are alos assumend unknown. Nonlinear regulator equations are established to obtain 3-fold equilibrium equations on which the output error is zero. Also an internal model of the 3-fold exosystem is constructed for obtaining the control law. Pole Placement method is used for obtaining the feeback control law. Simulation results are presented for tracking the sinusoidal and constant reference input signal. Asymptotic trajectory control and the suppression of chaotic motion in spite of uncertainties in the system are accomplished.
