Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the predictors influencing on resilience in adolescents with cancer. Methods: The participants consisted of 107 parents and 107 adolescents who aged ten and eighteen diagnosed with cancer more than six months and currently receiving outpatient treatment or further management after off-therapy. Data was collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Results: Resilience was significantly different by religion (t=2.472, p=.045) and number of cancer treatment regimens (F=3.155, p=.047). Family problem-solving communication was also significant by number of cancer treatment regimens (F=3.582, p=.031). The higher social support showed the stronger family hardiness and the better family problem-solving communication. In addition, a positive relationship was found between Family Hardiness Index (FHI) (r=.193, p=.046), Family Problem Solving Communication (FPSC) (r=.226, p=.019) and resilience of adolescents with cancer. FPSC (${\beta}$=.356, p=.045) and religion (${\beta}$=.441, p=.002) were predictive factors at ages 10-12, FHI (${\beta}$=.509, p=.029) and FPSC (${\beta}$=.503, p=.037) were predictive factors at ages 13-15 on resilience of adolescents with cancer that explained 16.0% and 24.3% respectively. Conclusion: The findings suggest that nursing interventions should focus on enhancing family resilience and resilience of adolescents with cancer.
Recently, due to rapid increasement of spatial data collected from various geosensors in u-GIS environments, the importance of spatial index for efficient search of large spatial data is rising gradually. Especially, researches based R-Tree to improve search performance of spatial data have been actively performed. These previous researches focus on reducing overlaps between nodes or the height of the R -Tree. However, these can not solve an unnecessary node access problem efficiently occurred in tree traversal. In this paper, we propose a MR-Tree(Mapping-based R-Tree) to solve this problem and to support efficient search of large spatial data. The MR-Tree can improve search performance by using a mapping tree for direct access to leaf nodes of the R-Tree without tree traversal. The mapping tree is composed with MBRs and pointers of R-Tree leaf nodes associating each partition which is made by splitting data area repeatedly along dimensions. Especially, the MR-Tree can be adopted in various variations of the R-Tree easily without a modification of the R-Tree structure. In addition, because the mapping tree is constructed in main memory, search time can be greatly reduced. Finally, we proved superiority of MR-Tree performance through experiments.

In this paper, we propose the realization of on-line handwritten Chinese character recognition for mobile personal digital assistants (PDA). We focus on the development of an algorithm having a high recognition performance under the restriction that PDA requires small memory storage and less computational complexity in comparison with PC. Therefore, we use index matching method having computational advantage for fast recognition and we suggest a unit reconstruction method to minimize the memory size to store the character models and to accomodate the various changes in stroke order and stroke number of each person in handwriting Chinese characters. We set up standard model consisting of 1800 characters using a set of pre-defined units. Input data are measured by similarity among candidate characters selected on the basis of stroke numbers and region features after preprocessing and feature extracting. We consider 1800 Chinese characters adopted in the middle and high school in Korea. We take character sets of five person, written in printed style, irrespective of stroke ordering and stroke numbers. As experimental results, we obtained an average recognition time of 0.16 second per character and the successful recognition rate of 94.3% with MIPS R4000 CPU in PDA.

This study examined the eating habits and preferences of foods according to the age of children with autism spectrum disorders and identified the nutritional needs of parents to support their healthy eating habits and provide basic data for the development of educational programs. A survey of 100 parents of children with autism spectrum disorders was conducted on their children's snack intake, food preferences, and parents' nutrition education needs. As a result, there were four times more boys than girls, and the body mass index differed according to age (p<0.001). Most children ate snacks more than once a day, and parents found that they wanted to develop nutritious snacks that could replace high-protein, low-calorie meals with the minimal use of additives. For the food preference, there was a significant difference in grains and starches, vegetables/seafood and fruits, milk and dairy products (p<0.05), fats and sugars, and Korean fermented pastes (p<0.01) between the two age groups. Regarding whether nutrition education was required, many parents had a high demand for nutrition education (4.24±0.70), and the intention to participate was 3.62±1.09. The most important content to be dealt with in parent education was 'Inducing a change in bad eating habits and behaviors', which was the highest (63%), and mostly face-to-face education was preferred. In conclusion, young children require diet education, and older children need to focus on weight control and obesity.

Soil stabilization can make the soils becoming more stable by using an admixture to the soil. Lime stabilization enhances the engineering properties of soil, which includes reducing soil plasticity, increasing optimum moisture content, decreasing maximum dry density and improving soil compaction. Silica fume is utilized as a pozzolanic material in the application of soil stabilization. Silica fume was once considered non-environmental friendly. In this paper, the materials required are kaolin grade S300, lime and silica fume. The focus of the study is on the determination of the physical properties of the soils tested and the consolidation of kaolin mixed with 6% silica fume and different percentages (3%, 5%, 7% and 9%) of lime. Consolidation test is carried out on the kaolin and the mixtures of soil-lime-silica fume to investigate the effect of lime stabilization with silica fume additives on the consolidation of the mixtures. Based on the results obtained, all soil samples are indicated as soils with medium plasticity. For mixtures with 0% to 9% of lime with 6% SF, the decrease in the maximum dry density is about 15.9% and the increase in the optimum moisture content is about 23.5%. Decreases in the coefficient of permeability of the mixtures occur if compared to the coefficient of permeability of kaolin soft clay itself reduce the compression index (Cc) more than L-SF soil mix due to pozzolanic reaction between lime and silica fume and the optimum percent of lime-silica fume was found to be (5%+6%) mix. The average coefficient of volume compressibility decreases with increasing the stabilizer content due to pozzolanic reaction happening within the soil which results in changes in the soil matrix. Lime content +6% silica fume mix can reduce the coefficient of consolidation from at 3%L+6%SF, thereafter there is an increase from 9%L+6%SF mix. The optimal percentage of lime silica fume combination is attained at 5.0% lime and 6.0% silica fume in order to improve the shear strength of kaolin soft clay. Microstructural development took place in the stabilized soil due to increase in lime content of tertiary clay stabilized with 7% lime and 4% silica fume together.

Generally, trees lining the streets are the most easily accessible green areas in the city and constitute the smallest basic unit in the formation of the urban linear green axis. This study attempts to interpret issues related to city trees from a comprehensive and relational viewpoint. The site of this study is Central Park Street in front of Incheon Metropolitan City Hall. This street is representative of those in Incheon City. This study is an inter-relational interpretation of issues by measuring the vitality of these trees. The following are results of this study: First, the vitality of city trees is higher in those trees growing in natural ground than those growing in plant gratings. This observation can lead to budget savings and increased natural areas in the city. Also, if planter and multi-layering planting methods are introduced where damage to trees is predicted, variation to urban landscape can be achieved while linking to reinforced rearing foundation of street-side trees. Second, there is need for a holistic approach to caring for street-side trees regarding the damage caused by drastic pruning and strong street lights. The typical functions of these trees, like supplying freshness in summer, absorbing solar radiation, and controlling the urban micro-climate are closely related to the vitality of the trees. Accordingly, the function and ecology should be understood holistically, not separately. In this aspect, the functional and ecological use of the multi-layering planting method is effective in protecting pedestrians from vehicles as well. Third, the fallen leaves of monotonous rows of trees have different ecological and functional effects. Not only is the index of greenness in the urban setting increased, but there are also aesthetic and symbolic effects. Fourth, in spite of being the street along which Incheon Metropolitan City Hall, major administrative buildings and Central Park are located, this street does not have its own special identity to discriminate it from other streets. It fulfills only functional criteria based on uniformity. If there is no paradigm shift from today's street system based on vehicles, the role of landscape architecture will be very passive in regards to street-side trees, the minimum unit of urban green. Fifth, on this particular street, many trees were planted in December, which reflects a deficiency of short and long-term strategy, like a street-tree master plan. In this aspect, we still lack a mature culture concerning these trees as a basic unit in urban greenery. Furthermore, there needs to be cultural introspection concerning present administrative practices.
Purpose: We analysis the outcome and complications of treatment of lesser toe brachymetatarsia. Materials and Methods: We analysed 28 patients 35 cases of lesser toe brachymetatarsia. Mean post operative follow up period was 2 years 8 months. All of the patients were female and mean age at operation was 21 years old. 2 cases of third metatasal bone and 33 cases of fourth metatarsal bone were operated. 8 metatarsal bones were treated using one staged lengthening with tricortical bone graft and 27 metatarsal bones were treated using callotasis with monofixator. Results: The average amount of lengthening was 13.3mm(12mm-15mm) in one staged lengthening, while 14.4mm(4mm-23mm) in callotasis. Average percentile increase was 28.9%(26%-34%) in one staged lengthening and 32%(18%-46%) in callotasis. The average healing index of callotasis was 76 days/cm (41 days/cm-166 days/cm). Satisfied outcomes in 4 cases of 8 cases (50%) after one staged lengthening and 17 cases of 27 cases (63%) after callotasis. 6 complications in 4 cases were occurred after one staged lengthening; insufficient length gain in 3 cases, fracture on the junction of graft bone and metatarsal bone in 1 case, plantar bowing deformity in 1 case and bony fusion of metatarsophalangeal joint in 1 case. 17 complications in 10 patients were occurred after callotasis ; metatarsophalangeal joint stiffness in 8 cases, metatarsophalangeal joint subluxation in 2 cases, overlengthened metatarsal bone in 2 cases, tapering of callus in 1 case, fracture of callus in 1 case, premature consolidation of callus in 1 case, osteomyelitis of metataral head in 1 case and plantar bowing deformity in 1 case. Conclusion: Although one staged lengthening and gradual lengthening using callotasis are effective treatment for lesser toe brachymetatarsia, complications not rarely occured after lengthening. Insufficient lengthening are most common complication after one staged lengthening while metatarsophalangeal joint stiffness lire most common complication after callotasis.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Childhood obesity has increased in recent decades in Korea. This study was designed to examine differences in the eating habits, physical activity (PA), nutrition knowledge, and self-efficacy of children by obesity status. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Subjects were 5th-grade children from 70 elementary schools in 17 cities nationwide. Two-stage stratified cluster sampling was employed. Survey questionnaire included items related to general characteristics, eating habits, PA, nutrition knowledge and self-efficacy. Excluding incomplete responses, 3,531 data were analyzed using SPSS. Subjects were categorized into overweight obesity (OW) and normal weight (NW) groups based on body mass index percentiles for age by sex. RESULTS: A total of 21.5% of subjects was overweight or obese. There were significant differences in gender, perceived stress, perception of body shape, body satisfaction, and interest in weight control between the OW and NW groups (P < 0.001). With respect to eating habits, the OW group ate breakfast (P < 0.05) and snacks (P < 0.01) less frequently, ate bigger meals (P < 0.001), and demonstrated less desirable behaviors during meals (P < 0.05 in boys) compared to the NW group. The OW group participated in less PA than the NW group, especially boys. OW boys spent less time walking during weekdays (P < 0.05) or the weekend (P < 0.001), spent more time being sedentary during weekdays or the weekend (P < 0.001), and exercised a fewer number of days (P < 0.01). For girls, the OW group spent more time being sedentary during the weekend (P < 0.01) and exercised a fewer number of days by walking or bicycle riding (P < 0.05) than the NW group. Nutrition knowledge was not significantly different between the OW and NW groups. Self-efficacy (P < 0.01 in boys), especially PA self-efficacy (P < 0.01), was significantly lower in the OW than NW group. CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed differences in eating habits, PA, and self-efficacy between OW and NW children. Obesity management programs for children need to focus on increasing self-efficacy, modifying eating habits, and increasing PA.
This study was conducted laying the focus on finding the mutual action between the substantial ecological value and economic system in the national land, and calculating the environmental carrying capacity and sustainability of the national land using the emergy synthesis. Particularly, this study pays attention watchfully to the reality that the analytic framework to analyze sustainability is not arranged well, as the concept of sustainable development considering environmental carrying capacity, which becomes a widely discussed topic today, is defined differently according to the subjective views of respective researchers, and the situation which needs in-depth evaluation on the interaction between nature and economy which becomes the fundamental of sustainable development. This study also aims at groping for correct direction for the national land development by calculating the environmental carrying capacity and index value which is appropriate to the national land and providing the framework for preparing the policy to induce the sustainable use and management of the national land. The concept of emergy synthesis which is used for the evaluation of environmental carrying capacity and sustainability in the national land, as in this case, can notify the information on current situation of the national land as well as explain how the national land transforms according to time pass (the role of information synthesis), and gives knowledge if the national land policies advances toward the direction of sustainable development (the role of policy evaluation and observation). Emergy synthesis also can take role for selecting best policy on the process of decision making on the exploitation of the national land (the role on the process of decision making).

The analysis of thiodiglycolic acid in urine has been used as an index of biological exposure to vinyl chloride. Unfortunately thiodiglycolic acid has a strong hydrophilic character, because it has two carboxylic groups, so that it can only be extracted with organic solvent with a great difficulty. Underivatized thiodiglycolic acid tends to tail because of non-specific interaction with the inert support. Therefore, esterification is the obvious first choice for derivatization of thiodiglycolic acid, particularly for gas chromatography. In this study, the focus of interest is to compare two method of esterifications (methylation and silylation). Methylation is to make the methyl ester of thiodiglycolic acid by reaction with diazomethane. Silylation is to make the trimethylsilyl ester of thiodiglycolic acid by reaction with N-trimethylsily-ldiethylamine. The results and conclusions are as the following: 1. The detection limit (sensitivity) of methylated thiodiglycolic acid was $5.00{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ and silylated thiodiglycolic acid was $3.07{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector. 2. The optimal liquid-liquid extraction of thiodiglycolic acid was as following: To each of the tubes, $15m{\ell}$ of urine, concentrated sulfuric acid (pH 1 - 2) and 5 gsodium sulfate were added. The samples was extracted three times with $5m{\ell}$ ethylacetate each time. 3. The methylated thiodiglycolic acid was more stable than silylated thiodiglycolic acid in extractional solvent which contained humidity. 4. The precision (pooled coefficient of variation for 4 days) of the analysis was 0.07324 in methylated thiodiglycolic acid with external standard calibration, and 0.07033 in methylated thiodiglycolic acid with internal standard calibration. 5. The precision (pooled coefficient of variation for 4 days) of the analysis was 0.10914 in silylated thiodiglycolic acid with external standard calibration, and 0.13602 in silylated thiodiglycolic acid with internal standard calibration. From the above results, the analysis of methylated thiodiglycolic acid was more sensitive (limit of detection) than silylated thiodiglycolic acid by gas chromatography. However, the methylated thiodiglycolic acid was stable in the humidity and was separated sharply on chromatogram. Also, analysis of methylated thiodiglycolic acid was more precise (pooled coefficient of variation for 4 days) than silylated thiodiglycolic acid. In conclusion, it is established that the analysis of methylated thiodiglycolic acid is appropriate for biological monitoring of exposure to vinyl chloride.
