  • This paper deals with recent research cases and directions of Fly-By-Wireless (FBWLS) flight control technology. FBWLS is a new type of flight control system technology with the aim of solving the problems mainly caused by the increasing amount of wires in aircraft to which Fly-By-Wire (FBW) technology applies. Therefore, in FBWLS flight control system the wired communication system is replaced with a wireless communication system. Currently the FBWLS flight control technology is at an initial development stage and thus this paper surveys deals with the cases in the viewpoint of technology feasibility. In this context, this paper analyzes technology that needs further studies to secure the reliability, stability and accuracy to the similar level of the corresponding FBW system. Since the major problems of FBWLS technology are packet losses and time delays so that this paper suggests the research direction of wireless communication protocol selection, optimization of wireless communication network and controller design considered communication environment.

  • This paper presents a fully digital controlled power supply unit for the wireless controlled dimmable LED lighting system. The proposed power supply designed using a fly-back converter, which is directly controlled by a microprocessor. Although the proposed circuit does not sense the AC input current and has not AC input voltage feed-forward, it can achieve a high power factor. The proposed power supply directly regulates the output power for LED loads using the PWM and PFM control of the fly-back converter without additional regulator. For a wireless remote control function, the Zigbee modem is equipped in the proposed power supply. A prototype set-up has been built and tested. Through the experiment with a prototype set-up, the usefulness of the proposed power supply is verified.

  • This paper presents a test development of a Fly-By-Wireless flight control system for a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Fly-By-Wireless system (FBWLS) refers to a system that uses a wireless network instead of a wired network to connect sensors and actuators with a flight control computer (FCC), reducing considerable amount of wires. FBWLS enables to design a much lighter aircraft along with decreased maintenance time and cost. In this research we developed a Zigbee-based FWBLS UAV in which sensors (GPS and AHRS) are wirelessly connected via a FCC to aileron and elevator servo motors. In order to see the effect of time delay due to wireless signal on the flight stability of the UAV, several flight tests were conducted. From the tests, it was confirmed that the effect is minor by comparing the flight response of the FBWLS with the corresponding Fly-By-Wire system.

  • In this paper I analyzed two decoding algorithms of decentralized LT codes for distributed storage by simulations in small-scale wireless sensor network. From the simulation results we can see that when the decoding ration is above 2.0, the successful decoding probability of OBP decoding is about 99%, while that of BP decoding is below 50% with n=100, and about 70% with n=200. We showed that OBP decoding algorithm is an efficient decoding scheme for decentralized LT codes for distributed storage in small-scale wireless sensor network.

  • In this paper, a flight techniques many quadcopters which can be configured flexibly squadron according to the situation in wireless sensor networks is suggested. In previous studies, aircrafts fly only as part of a prescribed form and know the distance between the aircraft by sensor was able to maintain the fleet. Also, the problem occurs that between the aircraft distance is not constant. In this paper, proposes an algorithm that the context of the formation fly using the current position of the quadcopter through a virtual map is based on the relative coordinates without being affected by Indoor, outdoor and obstacles. Proposed algorithm is Leader-Follower Technique that the method of determinin the shape of the squadron to the down command to the sub-quadcopter using the wireless network by the main quadcopter to determine a given situation. As simulation result, the proposed algorithm was confirmed that formation flight efficient in sensing the all conditions as compared to the conventional method.

  • The most efficient method to reduce duplicated messages is a partial dominant pruning for receiving and forwarding messages by in-fly format on the mobile ad hoc network. In this paper, we propose directional partial dominant pruning method by expanding partial dominant pruning for reducing not only number of forwarding nodes but number of antenna elements on the ad hoc network with directional antennas. by simulation, we prove superiority that average number of forwarding nodes for each antenna element and the ratio of duplicated messages for each nodes rather than existing partial dominant pruning method though the number of antenna elements are increasing rather than in case of using omni antennas.

  • This paper presents a self-powered sensor-node scheme using a RF wireless power harvesting techniques for improve drone time of flight. Sensor-node that is proposed is turned when two conditions satisfy: The one is input RF ID data from master-node should be same with sensor-node's ID, and the other one is RF wireless power harvesting system is turned on by hysteresis switch. In this paper, master-node's output is 26 dBm at 263 MHz. Maximum RF to DC power conversion efficiency is about 55% at 4-6 dBm input power condition (2 meter from master-node). The maximum RF wireless power harvesting range is about 13 meter form master-node. And power consumption of the sensor-node's load elements such as transmitter, MCU and temperature sensors is approximately average 15 mA at 5.0 V for 10 msec.

  • We address the problem of effective vehicular routing in hostile scenarios where malicious nodes intend to jeopardize the delivery of messages. Compromised vehicles can severely affect the performance of the network by a number of attacks, such as selectively dropping messages, manipulating them on the fly, and the likes. One of the best performing solutions that has been used in static wireless sensor networks to deal with these attacks is based on the concept of watchdog nodes (also known as guard nodes) that collaborate to continue the forwarding of data packets in case a malicious behavior in a neighbor node is detected. In this work, we consider the beacon-less routing algorithm for vehicular environments routing protocol, which has been previously shown to perform very well in vehicular networks, and analyze whether a similar solution would be feasible for vehicular environments. Our simulation results in an urban scenario show that watchdog nodes are able to avoid up to a 50% of packet drops across different network densities and for different number of attackers, without introducing a significant increase in terms of control overhead. However, the overall performance of the routing protocol is still far from optimal. Thus, in the case of vehicular networks, watchdog nodes alone are not able to completely alleviate these security threats.

  • In commemoration of Vol. 30, Issue 3, our journal prepared five review articles and one original paper. The global outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 has impacted our society, and especially the aviation and travel industries have been severely damaged. Kwon presented the aviation medical examination regulations related to COVID-19 announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea. Lim summarized various efforts of airlines to overcome the crisis in the aviation industry. He also discussed the management of these aircraft as the number of airplanes landing for long periods increased. Finally, he suggested various quarantine guidelines at airports and onboard aircraft. COVID-19 has had a profound impact on mental health as well as physical effects. Kim investigated the impact of COVID-19 on mental health and suggested ways to manage the stress caused by it. The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a technology in which devices communicate with each other through wired or wireless communication. Hyun explained the current state of the technology of the IoT and how it could be used, especially in the aviation field. In the area of airline service, various situations arise between passengers and crew. Therefore, role-playing is useful in performing education to prepare and respond to passengers' different needs appropriately. Ra introduced the conceptual background and general concepts of role-playing and presented the actual role-play's preparation process, implementation, evaluation, and feedback process. For a fighter to fly for a long time and perform a rapid air attack, air refueling is essential, which serves refueling from the air rather than from the aircraft base. Koo developed a questionnaire based on the HFACS (Human Factors Analysis and Classification System) model and used it to conduct a fighter pilot survey and analyze the results.

  • We propose control mechanism of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) group for making the communication network to the base station after the target is found. We assume UAVs can communicate to each other by wireless LAN without existing communication infrastructure. UAVs started to fly in linear formation, after finding target, UAVs move to the base station to send the information about the target. At least one UAV stays the position that the target is found. This paper explains the mechanism supporting reliable connectivity during UAV group's flying. We verify the proposed scheme and evaluate the performance through NS-2 simulation. The proposed scheme can be applied to the disaster area and war zone, which the existing communication infrastructure cannot be worked.
